Now, I don't really know anything about the UK's politics. Just that Brexit is bad, but I decided to take a quick peek at what's going on over there since there's an election going on and this is the first thing I see.

I believe so.
Everyone on the ballot gets to stand on the stage, and there's no laws preventing people from getting silly with it. There are a few consistent faces among them, most famously the members of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party, and it's how we get incredible images like this:
Count Binface and Elmo have become regulars, usually standing in the same seat as the reigning Prime Minister, though with this election looking like a total washout for the Tories (which it was, lmao), it seems Elmo decided to run against the incoming PM instead.
Count Binface also stood in the London mayoral race this year, and managed to get 24260 votes, and though he was ultimately defeated by the incumbent, Labour's Sadiq Khan, Khan nonetheless acknowledged Count Binface as a worthy contender, and congratulated him on defeating the candidate from far-right nutbar party Britain First, who became very upset when it was confirmed that he was defeated by Count Binface.
Count Binface is, to be clear, a new identity for previous contender Lord Buckethead, who had to change aliases because of copyright infringement.
For those who may be worried about where a man who stands as a parody candidate may fall politically, fortunately, Count Binface is one of the good guys, as he elaborated in an exclusive interview with the Big Issue, a charity magazine dedicated to helping the homeless.
Count Binface considers homelessness something that can be and should be completely eradicated within four years, and has used his increased prominence during election seasons to raise money for Shelter, another charity that supports homeless people.
So yeah, Bean Guy isn't even abnormal over here lmao.
ttrpg player pro tip- just tell your GM when you have a plot in mind for your character. Ask for events to happen. Walk up and say "I want my evil brother to show up and be a huge fight and I try to save him from himself." Your GM will ADORE having a whole encounter outlined for her, you'll get to have an awesome scene play out, you'll be invested, your GM will be invested, it'll be memorable. Hopefully, just don't be foreceful.
The idea that you and your GM will be able to like, psychically intuit each other's ideas for character arcs is bullshit. This is a collaborative relationship; communicate!!
Also get comfortable undoing shit if you're the DM. If you made an off-hand comment that didn't fit the world you want to weave or if you realized an event would have long-term consequences you don't want. You can just pause and tell everyone "wait I changed my mind, forget I said that! it didn't happen." and go back to the previous scene.
Ultimately ttrpgs should be a fun play time; ask yourself if you're following invisible rules, and if those rules help or hinder your game experience.
