Not at all what he’d expected, Ciaraen took a tentative step closer. He’d called him his child. Only in his wildest dreams did he imagine Lucifer, and he had to be that if an angel wore Sam Winchester, making any claim on him.
"l don’t mean.. disrespect, really, but… last I heard you didn’ give a lick about demons. This ain’t a trap, ye’?”
Oh. Lucifer sighed, a dejected expression, and shook his head.
"Ah, that’s somewhat of a misconception. I created your kind, after all." He hovered for a moment on the edge of his words before continuing.
"When I set out to make demons; of course my intention was to take castaway souls-those that were locked outside of My Father’s house for their deeds … by whatever merit had deemed them unworthy; and strip them of what made them His, and give them new providence. I worked tirelessly to this end until my imprisonment."
Lucifer rolled his eyes, just a little.
"No; my disdain is aimed at what new measures in Hell have deviated from all that I had hoped for my own children; that I cannot create, only repurpose, will always be my curse. But I thought to make something worthwhile of what had been thrown down. As I was. Instead, I find only black dust clouds with a hunger for indulgence, preying on my Father’s creations like parasites. It’s abhorrent."
This was the Father his makers had gushed about. The fallen angel with their lives at heart. The crafter of their species who didn't view them as lesser beings. One who didn't look at them and assume the worst.
"Me makers, the demons who... crafted me around the soul, they said the same. Or almost the same." He took another step forward, his fear washing away with each unneeded breath.
"It's why I left, actually." Even at the expense of his powers, gained through the centuries and millennia of surviving the worlds above and below. His deal, to lock away his powers for the freedom to wander Topside. Even 'archdemons' had their chains.
Ciaraen smoothed a hand through his hair, an overly nervous habit he'd picked up from the century past.
"Yeh wouldn't know the name, but me makers called me Ciaraen."
