“Excuse me.” The woman's tone makes it very clear that Emma is the one who should be apologising. “This is my desk.”
Emma blinks. “Uh, what?”
The woman’s eyes narrow. This only makes her glare more heated, the same force concentrating on a smaller spot. Emma starts to sweat. Her survival instinct seems to be on vacation, because she still doesn’t run.
“I thought,” she says, “since this is a public space,” she says, “that the desks belong to everyone.”
Emma and Regina are forced to share a desk every day.
