Where is the sport i fell in love with three years ago?
This past weekend as most of you know was the 2015 National championships in Dallas Texas also known as NCA.
I competed with two teams, Cali Snipers & Cali smoed. One of those teams(Snipers) taking home the jackets & also my very first NCA win. It felt so amazing that my teams hard work went to show and was rewarded with a VERY well deserved victory.
As most of you know for my second team, Cali SMOED did not do so well this past weekend, having mistakes day 1 as well as day 2, but where in the world does it say ” Cali smoed must hit a 0 deduction routine at all times” because that is the mentality the cheer world has towards my team and my heart is genuinely broken for not only my team but for the people the critics have been targeting.
For example, Day 1 we had a flyer go FACE FIRST to the mat and then move on the hit the rest of her routine and all people can do is make a vine of it, Re tweet it 2,000+ times and spread hate and negativity about it everywhere. The girl is 12 years old for gods sake, do you honestly think she doesn’t have feelings and can’t see all their hateful comments about her? And Angel? A closer family member to me that I have on the team? People are really going to call ANGEL out? ANGEL RICE out on tumbling? I’m sorry but if I’m not mistaken, your hardest tumbling pass would not even touch her warm up. Once again, no where in the world does it say “Angel Rice must have a perfect tumbling pass at all times” NO WHERE, you know why? Because she is human. But the moment team members start to defend her and them selfs, We are considered bullies and have bad sportsmanship.
Let me ask my readers a question, What team do you see having 10 people throwing jumps to full? What team do you see having 5 people doing full whip doubles AND bouncing back out of it and one athlete being a female? Smoed. We don’t do it because we have to, We do it because we can. Don’t let our past performances define our season, but instead, Let it open your eyes to something that the world WILL NOT even come close to touching once God decides it is time and allows us to put out our final product.
