thhis polll is nuts to me bc in 2020 during the portland wildfires and the pre vaccine era of the pandemic, i tried to sign up for a "mutual aid n95 giveaway" list, via my twitter account, and they banned me for having an anime girl pfp (it was rakka from haibane renmei) and having a locked account (i had a job and was closeted). i messaged them like "is there any way i can appeal this?" and they said "no" because apparently my anime girl icon and locked account meant i was either "fash or a creep or both." anyway they approved my roommates so they both got n95s but didn't share them with me. because i had an anime girl icon on twitter and didn't want my boss to find out i was trans.

anyway you all are going to get people killed (mostly trans women, bc we all know who suffers the most from pedojacketing). fuck off if you voted either of the top two options

The way other transmascs get pissy at the terms tme and tma is so interesting to me because they act like it's putting them specifically into a binary and it's like no. It's literally "these people do not experience this *specific type* of misogyny and these people do." And they will lose their minds over that.

Like. It's not JUST trans men who are tme. I am tme. Some, not all, nonbinary people are tme. Some genderfluid people are tme. Some are not. Cis men are tme. Cis women are tme. It is describing nothing except the specific type of misogyny exclusively experienced by transfems. It is not 'another box' people are trying to put you in. It's just a term to describe a phenomenon. You're acting like the people who think cis is a slur.

like we've basically been browbeaten into ignoring the KoG thing but like, CLEARLY terrace had a kneejerk reaction to trans women reacting to her character. and like, to do this on a show being published by a studio that- let's be clear- has its success and reach because of a trans woman's writing, is such a fucking slap in the face. the fact that the scene in question, the one performing the masculization and threatening our Certified Cis Woman is voiced by a transfeminine person? fucking INSANE.

like stop defending a cis woman you've never met and recognize that like, she's not a pot-banging chest-thumping bigot, but plainly there's some subconscious bias that is confused and off-put by the idea of trans women being women with complex relationships to femininity and an inner life, but perfectly fine with trans women being big threatening baddies who impose masculine force upon you.

and ofc people construe this as some character attack on her instead of as one example of the wider way tme people treat and view transfemininity and a chance for other tmes to self-reflect.

of course, that's probably why they're so defensive; they, too, are confused and off-put by the idea that they might have been tricked into perceiving a trans woman as a woman and even, horror of horrors, empathizing with her.

Apologies for being pressed but tumblr people are fucking out of control. Why is it so common for them to deny me my own culture? Mexican culture is not something I'm just now engaging with, I'm not a 5th generation white latino with assimilationist parents. DRIFT

Driving: 7/10

We still have really great technical driving, the donuts around the forklifts are a highlight, but I feel we've gotten a bit pared back from last time, a bit more restrained. We lose the sense of extreme speed from last time.

Ride: 5/10

We're back in the 2011 Fiesta, and they gave her pin striping. It isn't as good as the last livery. She looks even smaller than before.

Intrepidity: 4/10

The restrained driving keeps the danger fairly low, but the donuts through the pack of forklifts is a highlight. Another highlight being the drift knocking out a ladder beneath someone. A real good trick that looks dangerous. Being in Hollywood however makes some moments that would feel intrepid, a bit blasé, such as Ken walking on fire.

Filming: 5/10

The filming of the actual real stunts are as good as ever, however the CGI effects are really bad, detracting from the whole thing. Also, adding CGI into the stunts with the Segway gorilla stunt just, makes the entire stunt feel fake, and for something that's supposed to be real, it kinda sucks. Also the new transition between onboard cameras makes me feel ill.

Turf: 6/10

The Universal backlot is a fun filming location, however, its artifice rubs off on the film a tad. The background gags also intrude a bit much.

Stunts That Aren't Gymkhana

STAG Deduction: 2

The opening credits feel so out of place, trying to be everything else they forgot to be Gymkhana (it's also Too Long). Also, the end dance..? number..? is just so out of place and odd that I've gotta dock points.

Closing Thoughts

A move where going bigger results in less, sadly. This was a surprising clunker to me. It feels like somehow they had to be slower and more careful around the fake streets and buildings than they do around the real.
