as a tme person with a transfeminine sister it is extremely clear to me that we absolutely do not have an equivalent experience.

she did not experience "male socialization." when i look back on our childhood, it is easy to understand that there was no privilege to that concept. she was forced to try and shrink herself into the shape of a man, and was abused when she didn't succeed at playing the part. being "raised as a boy" only highlighted the stark incongruity between what was expected of her and what she was. this repeatedly led to her facing violence.

and to be clear i genuinely don't care if you think a rude comment from an exasperated trans woman online is as equally bad as the literal risk of her being murdered when she walks outside. this is not a competition, being the most visible is not a prize. i genuinely fear for my sister's life.

hard drive cable was really short so there was no place to put it down when i was transfering files off it and i could feel it working. this is an 2tb mechanical HDD so its got a spinning platter in it with read heads and everything, and i couldnt help but think "oh man i need to describe this for all those robofuckers out there. theres a lot of potential for them to have fun with this"

like its not even a thing that gets me off i just seem to have a way with words these folks like.

when i first plugged it in i could hear it spin up and FEEL it too. it was a gentle vibration no stronger then the haptics on a cell phone. it took a second to get up to full speed but when it did it was a constant hum in the palm of my hand. i had to be gentle with it because too much movement would disturb the heads and cause bad reads and corrupt the data on the way out.

once it reached full speed it did a little self test. when the read-head swung out to do a test read and then swung back into the dock. i could feel each time the read head moved. it would make a sharp but tiny thump. almost like feeling its heartbeat. whenever i opened a folder i could feel the head swing out to the sector and take a read. i wasnt moving lots of disjointed files so the tiny thumps were not frequent. im sure if i was moving a large number of pictures it would be like its heart was racing, but since i was moving large movie files it was much more calm. It made a thump each time it went to the next file since these were long continuous reads that didnt need a lot of seeking.

when i was done, i ejected it from the system trey and the final thump was felt as it docked the read head and slowed the drives down. it didnt turn them all the way off but i could feel though the vibrations that it was much slower. it did spin down all the way when i pulled the plug out and went back to its dormant state

The next spiderverse movie should have Gwen turn to the camera and say “The Peter Parker from my dimension was a cisgender man”.

If any male character had a trans flag in his room nobody would say “oh that’s actually for his transfem friend :)” and if they did they’d be fucking crucified.

I’m willing to bet good money that even if we got explicit trans spidergwen, people would still say “oh but they could also be t4t!” because god for-fucking-bid trans women exist on their own without a male counterpart.

just watched the Avatar Aang movie. I really enjoyed it. Like, the story wasn't anything to write home about (and it does the pitfall of having anti-bender villains with little to no ideological justification which fails to properly critique oppression, a pitfall shared by Korra season 1), but it made me tear up a bit and I think that's usually a win.

No no it's not the story that makes this movie good. This movie looks gorgeous. God I wish this thing had a theatrical release. The environmental art is so beautiful and dynamic and plays so well into the action set pieces. This is an action movie, and it's a really good looking action movie at that. The action scenes are dynamic yet legible, and they pack so much of it into such a short span of time.

I like the part where they go to Giant's Deep from Outer Wilds.

I like that they did something slightly original in the intro rather than just like, quoting the avatar intro verbatim like you'd expect, and then they were immediately thereafter like "ok ok i have shown so much restraint now REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE REF--"

So like, there's nothing groundbreaking here, it's not an instant classic or anything, and story wise I don't think it's quite as good as the original show, but I still really enjoyed it.
