Anonymous said:god you are so embarassing he made [b/cho] a thing when he didn’t know if they would get renewed or not and he didn’t split [b/cho] up till that last bellarke shot. it means he doesn’t care who the endgame couple is. you don’t have to like [b/cho], it doesn’t change the fact that they are canon and bellarke isn’t. if the show ended after season 5 it would mean [b/cho] was endgame not bellarke. standing next to each other in the last shot doesn’t mean endgame. stop twisting canon it’s pathetic
Do you know the difference between “story” and “story element?”
B/E is a piece of the story, an element that serves a purpose WITHIN the larger story. The larger story IS Bellarke. Bellarke and Clarke and Bellamy in the apocalypse and the fate of humanity.
When you say “B/E is endgame” you are separating an element of the story, and making that the main idea.
This is an incorrect analysis of the show, and leads to an inaccurate understanding of what the show is about.
If you want to ship B/E be my guest. I don’t care. There’s nothing terribly WRONG with B/E. I kind of like it, but I can’t ever say that or I get attacked by bellarkers. Because multiple ships can exist at the same time, and one can be endgame without invalidating the others. B/E is canon. I’ve never argued that at all. Of course it’s canon. I just don’t think it’s that important to the story or to Bellamy, or even, at this point in season 6, to Echo.
Because the story being told, especially in season 6, but you can see it all the way back in the pilot, is a Bellarke love story, very slow, but very steady, and at this point, unstoppable.
B/E is NOT A STORY. C/b/e is a story. It’s a love triangle story. Clarke is his soulmate and his love alone brings her back from the dead, but Echo is still in the way of allowing them to be together. Love. Triangle.
The way the B/E story has been told has been to point out how b/e does not fulfill Bellamy’s needs, makes conflict between him and the two women he loves more than anyone (that’s Octavia and Clarke,) is an unequal power relationship (king/spy) and is not supportive and intimate nor is it honest. How much they care for each other is clear, that they want to protect each other is clear. Echo wants Bellamy to be happy, and b/e does NOT make Bellamy happy. This is the story.
That is not an endgame story.
If the story had ended in s5, JR would have made peace with his story NOT being finished.
If a show gets cancelled, that means they never got to endgame because they never got to the end. It means they walked away from the story without finishing it.
Even so, if the show had ended at s5, the way it was written had B/E minimized to the point that Echo got not one bit of screen time after battle and getting everyone on the ship. (king/spy btw) HOWEVER, they ended the major battle and then IMMEDIATELY went to the main relationship on the show, CLARKE AND BELLAMY and we spent more time with reuniting them, and reconnecting and subtle emotional reactions, while Echo faded into the background. AND THEN they woke up and faced a new world, together, epically, while Echo was INVISIBLE AND NOWHERE TO BE SEEN.
The ambiguity here is that while B/E is still together canonically, in words, in story, THEY ARE NOT TOGETHER AT ALL. Their relationship is not resolved (mainly because there’s nothing to be resolved) but Bellarke’s relationship is a BIG, CENTRAL concern. It is EVIDENT that B/E does not matter to the story, or apparently enough to Bellamy, because CLARKE is the center of both the story and Bellamy’s attention.
B/E is canon. It simply doesn’t matter as more than a romantic obstacle. Echo does. B/E does not.
I understand that you are unable to hold two different competing concepts in your head at the same time. I understand that if YOU understand a story element as canon, you are unable to put the connections together that follow various story elements and lead to meaning, and narrative, and, well, endgame. I understand that you have a hard time understanding that I am analyzing the story in a DIFFERENT way than you, based on a system of understanding that you are not familiar with (shame on your high school english teacher btw, or you for being a bad student,) I understand that you believe in shipping very much, and think your shipping is the only way to understand things.
Pretty much about everything. Enjoy shipping B/E, but, the story is about Bellarke.
Ship and let ship. I don’t come into your anons telling you you’re a fool, although you are. Don’t come into mine. I am minding my own business, please allow me to do so.
