I have my own opinions on Jax myself so uh. Gonna share my thoughts;
Please be respectful, or I will block you. I am okay with FRIENDLY discussion and critique. Don't be a dick.
It is perfectly fine for Jax to have not even figured herself out; even more so, she did not HAVE to be redeemed. Not all characters are going to be able to accept themselves, and it's especially hard for someone in a marginalized group with internal conflict. HOWEVER,
The biggest issue in my opinion was the fact that Jax was the only focus. With how much focus we got, it felt like Jax's arc would lead up to some form of realization, or even redemption, and alot of the time with people in the fandom, it feels as if they're pitying her without admitting to her flaws. And if I'm being truthful? I didn't even realize she was trans until finding sources outside the show in itself. Which is fine, of course. I just feel that if you want to tell a story, then it should be inferable from the source material. And based on my discussions with some others who watched tadc - alot of it just felt, well...random.
If I'm being honest, when it cut to Jax being abstracted in cinema, me and several others in the showing said things such as "what?" or "are we sure that's Jax?" Because truthfully, Jax abstracting kind of...felt like it was a way for her not to have to face the consequences of her actions. And once again, a bad character doesn't have to be redeemed. but from my perspective, it felt like that was the attempt it was meant to have based on a lot of context clues within the ending.
Even the concept of someone refusing to accept help until it was too late could have been okay. Jax had a lot of internalized issues, and maybe she could have been held accountable if she chose to talk to those wanting to help her. and the true tragedy of the story could have been put easier: not everyone is going to accept themself. Not everyone is able to come to terms with who they are.
But to me, the fact is that there was nothing that proved her worthy of redemption. just "oh the reason she did this was because of internalized misogyny/transphobia." with no concept of apologising to her victims or giving THEM closure.
I'm really bad at wording so this might not really make sense but it's been bothering me. so.
Lukas and Aiden as a duo always make me so ill bc what do you mean they used to be bestfriends and now just semi hate eachother as one got more evil and fucked up and now that sort of sentiment will always somewhat leak into their other relationships,,,I'm really interested in ur thoughts on them
They drive me so nuts, there's so much about Lukas and Aiden that I think is underutilized in the game and I wish it was expanded upon more
Like before I get into this: this'll be really long, and I have a hard time putting my feelings/thoughts into words sometimes but I am going to try (also be warned there's probably typos)
Okay I actually sent in this ask bc i couldnt talk about Lukas and Aiden in a way where I got all my thoughts out but one thing I do really like here is how you discussed the concept of redemption vs forgiveness between the two of them. Like when I was younger I hated Aiden to the CORE, refused to consider any kind of redemption arc for Aiden because to me he was a jerk; and that's all he ever will be. However, having grown up a fair amount (and having had an ex-bestfriend or two of my own), I can definitely see Aiden being redeemed although nowhere near perfect.
And as for him apologising to Lukas? Yeah. Lukas very likely won't forgive him. And that's more than okay. I personally have had someone from a past friendship apologise to me after a few years of no contact, and to put it simply? I didn't forgive them. And one thing I think is important in media is that no matter what even if someone from your past gets better, you do not owe them forgiveness. And although I do believe Aiden can be redeemed, I can see him having to take in those consequences and learn that ultimately yes, he's gotten better, but no, that doesn't mean Lukas has to forgive him. and although I have a very, very deep appreciation for those who write/draw fanfics and or art of mcsm, that tends to be something vital that many forget. Same goes for redemption arcs for Romeo, or any character really.
I might talk more about my opinions of the ocelots as a whole if i have the energy and can figure out how to word this, but basicallly:
Lukas and Aiden make me extremely ill but I love the concept of redemption paired with "I don't owe you my forgiveness" followed by realizing there are just some things you can never take back.
Okay so I've been thinking alot about how different disorders or forms of abuse are often portrayed in media and how some people argue whether these things should be present in medias at all, so I figured I should put out my own take on it BC I remembered I have free will. So:
For me, alot of the time what an author writes can reflect on their real world thinking; not in the sense of 'if character bad, author bad', i mean in the sense of 'if an author cannot sufficently prove the tragedy within a story of a form of abuse and romaticises it, then i feel rightfully concerned for the authors way of thinking and any potentional future partners they may have'
And in my opinion, if you don't think you can portray a character with a disorder or experience in an accurate/respectful manner then you probably shouldn't label them with that sort of thing at all.
Honestly anyone here is free to share their takes but if you're gonna be disrespectful ab it I'm not going to engage with you; thanks!
Heres how I feel the characters/friends would react to Jesse's puppy eyes
No one talks about this but Jesse's puppy dog eyes aren't just commented to work on Lukas; like of course there's the "Puppy dog eyes won't get you anywhere right now. Not anymore." From him in s2ep5. Everyone knows that one. But in s2ep2, if you choose "..." During you and Petra's talk on the way to the ice palace, she says "No, no, don't make the hurt face...aughh...I hate that face." Even Stella comments on it in s2ep3 when you try and get her to give you a lever, saying "No, no, no. Get your begging eyes out of here. They won't work..." And if you continue: "Oh, don't look at me like that. I am not a bad person."
I don't know if Jesse's puppy dog eyes are ever mentioned in season 1, but I do know they have a way without words, as there's multiple lines in both seasons where their silent gaze serves to make others uncomfortable (ex.Milo, s2 Ivor)
I dunno. It's fun to think about. Might talk about it more later.
I realised I didn't do anything for pride month and I have alot of shipping opinions. Go my yuri polycule!! (With gender + sexuality headcanons)
I'm gonna explain each of their dynamics as duos now and then anyone interested can imagine what they'd be like together ^^
Cassiya (Cassie x Maya)
This is actually really funny as a ship to me cause wdym that the guy that Cassie framed for murder is her gfs ex-friend. Although unrelated to all that; I've always imagined Maya as some popular girl stereotype, and though idk if Cassie would still be the white pumpkin; to be fair I can see her rocking up to Beacontown to scope stuff out and possibly get the jump on Jesse but then Maya and the other girls are just gonna be chilling around. In Maya's case it's like. "Oh. Yeah. They exist. It's whatever." I don't think Maya would care too much to be completely honest. Their dynamic is really appealing though
Cassinta (Cassie Rose x Binta)
Cassie and Binta is actually a very interesting dynamic; I don't think Binta is weak by any means, but she certainly feels like someone who is more of a pacifist than everyone else, compared to someone who is probably the most violent? It's honestly interesting to think of their dynamic
Castella/Killerqueen (Cassie x Stella)
I love them oh my lord their dynamic is so fascinating to me. I can't remember who it was now but someone proposed that Cassie, even if having been reformed still just hates Jesse so it turns into into "oh yeah that's my friend :) we used to not like each other but we're good now :3" while Cassie is just seething. I feel like their dynamic would be similar to Cassiya, although not the same. I don't know how to explain, but I feel like Stella might be the best when it comes to giving Cassie a redemption arc.
Bintya (Binta x Maya)
To be honest I'm not entirely sure how to explain my appeal to this one. I think they would just be kinda cute.
Mayella (Maya x Stella)
They both would probably do makeup and would be hypewomen together, it'd honestly be great. Both of them probably have a fair ego but I think it'd be really endearing for them to interact. And hey!! Past rivals to our main characters?
Bintella (Binta x Stella)
Although Stella is reformed, I can imagine Binta being someone helping who helps rebuild champion city and even possibly coaching Stella on what it means to be a good leader, especially since they both have similar backgrounds and are even both helped/were helped by Jesse in season 2
I procrastinated for like a year but here
Ao3 account go
I won't post much because my motivation has been ass and I can't play rdr2 so my interest is kinda dying
Uh but idk there's like 5 or so things from last year/yr before that have been rotting in my docs for forever
Hah revenge support GO READ MY HUSBANDS FICS GO SUPPORT XIM NOW
My husband hasn't linked her ao3 account anywhere and I want people to see his mcsm stuff
Nobody say anything to them ok
SIGH ok self promotion or whatever my husband is a dork
Men only hate charthur because Charles isn't a bipoc woman who needs a white man to heal/save her.... Prove me wrong.
They can both stand their own so they're only allowed to have someone less than them apparently (take literally any other ship these dudes like, always damsel X big tuff cowboy)
I'm not into rdr at all but this is honestly how people act; like it's always the white saviour and/or if they're queer at all, neither of them can be capable, one has to be 'soft' and the other 'strong'. dare I call it the perception of straight relationships shining through queer ones. (I feel this is also often the reason people say stuff like "two guys/girls can't just be friends anymore...(eyeroll)...")
Also its really really gross how queer relationships tend to get dumbed down just to sexual gratification for either straight men or women. It's fine to enjoy queer media even if you aren't queer yourself but it's a whole other thing when you enjoy it just bc of the obvious fetishisation of queer folks
my dinner got cold cause i got distracted talking to my husband i love this man lmao
(finnfern shippers dni/block me please)
Came to the conclusion that people start acting like lsp when it comes to Finn (mostly in terms of finnfern) and I might go. Cry or be sick.
In terms of what I mean by acting like lsp, I feel like the majority is just casual sex jokes? Until Breezy her SA is more of a gag that he ignores and I feel like that one-sided "haha sex joke" towards Finn is done by the fandom a lot
Flame Finn in particular is so weirdly sexualized for some reason (both by the fandom n lsp)?? I know it's probably toxic masculinity = older but Jesus he's still 17?? I've seen a few finnfern tiktoks of him and fun w like inneduos or whatever and it really just feels like overly heteronormative?? (blissfully unaware sunshine X aggressive masculine guy)
All around icky please don't sexualise minors fictional or otherwise
Those who ship Lumeo/Romekas, please don't interact with this post, and feel free to block me.
{ This rant contains topics such as SA. Proceed with caution. }
Hey so I would like to preface this by saying I don't like hating on ships. But this is me trying to share my opinion. But don't go out of your way to harrass those who do/don't like this ship. Thanks!
I'm gonna be real when I say I find it really distasteful and uncomfortable when people talk about Lukas x Romeo in a positive light (I have tags blocked already); and alot of the time it's either redeemed!Romeo or worse: Romeo disguised as Jesse people shipping with Lukas. And the latter is mostly what I want to talk about because it just makes me feel really gross and icky just because I think that sort of thing constitutes as SA as Lukas is NOT aware that the Jesse he is with is not Jesse. It is perfectly fine to delve into the psyche of what Lukas is thinking in a scenario where he and Jesse are together pre/during S2, but it's another thing when he's actively shipped with the person disguised as his partner. And I can't believe I have to pull this card, but if this helps make it clearer: If Lukas was a woman and/or if this was a straight relationship, do you think it would be treated as a positive ship?
And I'm sorry, but I genuinely cannot pretend to see any appeal in this.
Things Romeo has done to the order, including, but not limited to:
-Stole Jesse's identity; tried to kill them; the obvious.
-Quite literally accepts torture as a valid method (The Iron Breathtaker, the gauntlet harming Jack/Petra in Ep 3, etc)
-Axel and Olivia confirm they were going to turn on Jesse if they didn't find out it was Romeo
-Axel also confirms he was a total jerk and didn't listen to anyone
-He imprisoned Lukas (+others)
-When Axel and Olivia said they wanted to go home, Romeo (as Jesse) DESTROYS Champion City to prove a point/THREATEN THEM. "You might want to be careful, or there might not be a home to go back to at all..."
-LUKAS LITERALLY SAYS IN HIS CONFRONTATION THAT ROMEO WAS GLOATING WHILE TORMENTING PEOPLE
In my eyes this ship feels abusive, coercive, and inappropriate — truthfully, it's been bothering me for awhile.
I can usually look past ships that irritate me, but this is just one thing I cannot stand nor tolerate, so for your sake and mine, if you ship Romeo X Lukas (or any ship including Romeo and The Order), then please just block me for both our sakes. Thanks.
Okay maybe this is stupid and there's worse issues in the world but can I just say a lot of the hate on Axel is really fucking stupid to me. Hate him all you want for being a jerk, hate him for being a contributor to the Witherstorm (even though I don't personally think it's his fault...) What I mean is the fatphobia within the MCSM fandom targeted towards Axel. Because for ALL the reasons you could hate a character...his weight? Really? With how MCSM (to me, at least) has a theme of finding our place and belonging somewhere that feels home to you, I'd consider both acceptance and friendship as fundamental themes too.
It's honestly just really gross to see people shaming a character just because of their weight because it's not a negative trait, it might not even be in his control. And it honestly irks me as the MCSM fandom is filled to the brim with people in marginalized groups (such as those who are LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, etc.) and if someone had been shaming a character for those reasons, I'm fairly sure people would be pissed off about it. I don't care if he is fictional; there's still real people out there who are overweight, which could be for a multitude of reasons, and for that reason, I really cannot bring myself to sympathise with people who shame characters for that sort of thing.
Guys tell my husband to stop questioning my authority /silly
I saw this in a vision (but I can't draw so)
Okay, so I was looking through the book of bill today, and I realised that I'm missing pages. And I talked to my partner and they're also missing pages (as well as apparently some codes); the first photo is where the first missing page should be, and the second photo is the book I own. If anyone knows why this is happening, please let me know. Thanks!
"my love language is words of affirmation"
"My love language is physical affection"
My love language is sending me and my partner sending the most random shit to eachother while neither of us actually respond for a week straight <3
