Look man ik I was gonna write that priest AU. I've been thinking about it for weeks and it has like 17 to 25 chapters in my head so I'm scared of it.
Have some confident 'lot lizard' (kinda sorta we'll see) Dennis × shy sabbatical Robby instead because I can pump this out as a one shot and then return to hibernation. 🙇
[...] the doctor chuckles faintly as the stranger easily falls into step with him back towards his bike. And he - he actually whistles when Micheal grabs his bag.
"That's a nice ride..", he trilled with respectful admiration, "Not a new model though, is she?"
Micheal is unsure how he feels being talked to like this. The stranger is being overly friendly with him, almost playful. It makes him worry about getting jumped, so he just tugs the half empty cigarette packet out of the front compartment and tosses it the man's way. "She's a rescue. Friend of mine fixed her up for me." he explained bluntly.
The guy catches the packet and nods gratefully for them. Picking one stick out to jam it between his lips, he motions towards Micheal. "You like housing strays? Good Samaritan type?" he posed with a lilt that made the doctor suspect he wasn't actually talking about poor stray puppies. That hunch has him grimacing as he pulled his lighter out as well to lend him, unpromoted.
"It was a waste of potential to leave her behind and I just wanted something to do", he attempted to deflect, shrugging his jacket on as if it was slipping. It wasn't. The stranger did a little trick with Micheal's lighter, throwing it up and catching it again before lighting the cigarette between his lips. In and exhaling it like that too. Micheal notices too late that he's staring, and he turns away to watch the sun descend. A warm sheen on his face to disguise the flush that was crawling up his neck. "I don't really have time or patience to foster."
The young man snorts at that, audibly dragging and pushing out smoke behind him. He finds himself insisting he doesn't want to look. Of course, why would he?
"Shame." the stanger suddenly spoke. Why the hell was he still there? He got his smokes. If anything, Micheal is glad he'd taken them off of him, even though he knows he's probably buying another one in a week tops.
"Figured I could appeal to you enough to take me with."
Oh. That's why he's still here.
