i always find it disappointing when a story has fantasy bigotry but no acknowledgement of real world bigotry. mostly because you're ignoring the actual victims of it but also because i feel like you're really missing out on potentially interesting worldbuilding? like yeah i 100% believe that if we had dark magic users or elves or animal people that there would be discrimination involved. but why not make it intersectional? would the animal people that happen to be white get different treatment than other animal people? would elf and dwarf societies be more or less approving of an inter-species marriage if it's gay? idk it feels like there's a lot of potential for intricacy that some stories completely ignore because they wanna write a story about racism without any minorities.
clone/doppelganger character who goes on a long journey of self discovery and becoming their own person, involving a gut wretching gender revelation in which coming out as trans serves as proof that they ARE in control of their own life and can become whoever they want to be. and then they meet up with another clone and find out they coincidentally came out as trans too and are like "god damn it THAT WAS GONNA BE MY THING."
