I am a friend to all cats. Yes even the mean ones. They have their reasons.
honestly, open warning to anyone who sits beside me on a plane: I’m eating your ass immediately if we crash. I don’t have any religious hang ups. if we’re lost in the Andes in need of rescue, and I start to get a little hungry, I’m eating you. sorry.
oh.
well thanks for letting me know, I’ll rewrite the card I hand out on flights

online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.
and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.
there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't think anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.
i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.
january is one of those months where you experience every feeling on the human spectrum and you just have to go about your day like that isn't happening
we've got a life to love living.

@kaelynn_vp Tiktok Caption: The key to good communication with autistic people is to be direct. You'll always get a better response from us when we actually know what you want.
Ok but this video is less than a minute long & yet it perfectly explains how to communicate with "mysterious, confusing, unknowable" autistic people lol. We ofc have different body language as well, & body language is super important in communication, but this video explains verbal communication so well 💖
Video description: a tiktok video by kaelynn_vp, a white blonde person with bangs and long hair. she draws three simple diagrams on a whiteboard to illustrate direct communication, which she describes verbally as follows:
“How to communicate with autistic people: a step by step guide to being direct.
Step one: Think of the message you want to communicate and then verbalize it. Here's an example. Melissa is exiting the door, she sees that Jay is standing in the way. She thinks of the message she needs to say, she verbalizes it: "Excuse me!" But Jay doesn't move.
After I verbalized my message and it didn't work, I go to step two: ask yourself, what do I really want to say? So she says, "Watch out, I'm trying to come through!"
Alright, step three: after two unsuccessful attempts, ask yourself, what does the person need to do with this information? So back to our example, Melissa finally asks herself, what do I want Jay to do with the information that I am giving him right now? So she says, "Take a few steps back, please." Jay, understanding what she wants him to do, takes a few steps back, allowing her to get through the door.
Direct communication tells someone exactly what they should do with the information that you're giving them. This eliminates the guesswork, hidden intentions, and implications. end description.
“Cats don’t actually love you”
A cat is a small creature in the middle of the food chain that is fully aware that you are a very large thing that could stomp its head in at any moment and yet it chooses to rest its tiny little head on your leg for a nap and spreads out on the floor near you exposing its belly and its most sensitive organs. It brings dead mice and bugs to you to share food.
Don’t you get it? This tiny thing trusts you. It wants to help you too. It licks your leg thinking that it’s helping. It kneads on you to find comfort. It shares its body warmth with you in the cold and gives you your space in the heat. It hisses at other mammals it sees outside including other cats in an effort to protect its family.
Cats love you so so much. But they will keep trying to eat plastic.
Imagine that one day as you're walking on a hot sunny path, your hat jumps off your head and lands into a muddy ditch. And you look at your muddy hat and ask it: "What did you do that for?"
"I don't want to be a burden anymore", your hat answers. "You are always carrying me around, and I can't carry you. That's not fair."
"I don't mind carrying you, little idiot", you tell your hat, "you hardly weight anything at all, and you shelter me from the sun."
"But that's different", your hat protests. "I don't mind the sun scorching on me. That happens anyway. It's literally no trouble for me to shade you too."
"Just the same it's no trouble for me to carry you. But now, because you wanted to stop inconveniencing and bothering me, I am now hatless and you are in the dirt."
Thoughts that are mutual between cats and their people:
Yeah you're cute when you sleep but you didn't let me sleep either so I'm going to annoy you now because I'm bored. Hahah get poked, sleepy idiot.
How do you not comprehend this when I am literally staring at you. Like I understand that your brain can't understand things this nuanced but come on, how do you not get this.
I don't know if you know that what I am currently doing is an expression of affection, but that won't stop me. Knowing that I showed you that I love you is enough.
I heard a crinkly material and the sound of you chewing so I have to know what's in your mouth RIGHT FUCKING NOW.
I can't communicate with you and you can't communicate with me, so I'm just copying the tone of the sound you're making in hopes that you understand that I try.
You are doing activities beyond my comprehension, and I find this fascinating. I will never understand what the fuck you are trying to achieve here, but I am intrigued nonetheless.
Hey are you ok, you haven't done your weird thing in a while. Yeah I don't get why you do that but I know you do that when you're ok.
