i definitely see James as adhd-coded and i think many people write him as such unconsciously without even realising it. so many of his popular fanon and canon traits just align if you pause to look. loud, restless, working on new side projects all the time instead of focusing on what he should be doing. like even the playing with the Snitch habit he has, which is taken from canon? is 100% adhd behavior.

which is why it bothers me so much in jily and jegulus when lily/regulus are constantly annoyed at him, rolling their eyes, telling him to shut up. it makes me so sad. i want them to sit there and let him talk for hours and when hes like "sorry im rambling" they tell him, "no its okay i like listening to you talk". reminding him to do things he forgets, sirius and remus constantly fixing and cleaning his glasses because otherwise he doesnt even notice. please.

He is perfect just as he is and yes, they should let him ramble and babble to his heart’s content (Sirius 100% does this without complaint). Remus is heart broken and tries to move on but just can't.

Fast forward to the battle of Hogwarts and Remus dies. He's laying on the ground in the great hall after being moved.

His phone starts to ring and he shoots up from the floor. He inhales a large breath and his chest heaves. It takes a moment to register the noise.

He looks at the screen and sobs. On the screen, it says "Pads🖤". He's never been so quick to answer a phone call. He can feel the moisture on his cheeks and the large intake of breath when he hears the familiar voice of Sirius Black.

"Stand up Re, I've missed you" Remus shoots up onto his feet and looks down, phone pressed to his ear. He's standing in his own pale body. He looks back up and around the room. The phone drops from his hand when he looks behind him.

After all, why would you call someone 10 feet away from you?

The next thing he knows, Remus is in Sirius's arms and his favorite sound in the world is next to his head.

"Welcome home love."

there are two types of children who come out of abusive homes. Sirius and Regulus are them, that’s why they are always at odds.

Sirius knows how precious sleep is, he can sleep anywhere anytime at the drop of a hat

Regulus can’t let himself sleep. Even safe and alone he feels so uncomfortable and can’t sleep until his eyes droop and he can’t fight anymore

Sirius’ rage turns hot and passionate, an angry fire blazing

Regulus’ rage turns cold and calculate, concentrated into fine points of cruelty

Sirius feels everything all too much, consuming all of him until he cannot feel himself anymore

Regulus feels so little that he cannot navigate his own emotions, and when he feels something strong it consumes every part of him

Sirius begs for contact and touch with everyone he knows, to confirm they are there, and to soothe him

Regulus’ skin pricks when he is touched, no matter how much he loves them. He can’t handle close proximity

Sirius hides his pain with a smile

Regulus hides behind dead eyes

and yet they are still, two scared and traumatised boys, hiding.

they hid in that house, and they hide now, with the people they love most.

because that’s the Black brothers. they hide.

because they don’t know how to be found.

but they’re begging

Reglus watched James fidget with the bottle of wine he was holding, turning it over in his hands repeatedly as if this was going to make his anxiety disappear. He took the bottle from James and took his hand, making sure he could feel the engagement ring as he intertwined their fingers. James let a small smile cross his face.

“I’m just nervous. I know he is supportive, but he’s still your brother at the end of the day,” James said. Regulus squeezed his hand in support.
