The Surprising Reading Habits of Millennials (INFOGRAPHIC)
[via The Expert Editor]
Here it is!! My collaboration with LetThereBeDoodles! <3 This is something we have been working on for the last couple of weeks and it has been so much fun working together and I am so happy with what we created. We both hope that you enjoy these manips and the story that goes with them!(^-^)
We both wanted to do something new so we decided to create our own adaptation a la Disney! >:D We looked at several stories from around the world and got hooked by the story of Yuki-Onna, a mythical spirit from Japan. This is a character that has been re-imagend several times in film/TV before, so we had to take some artistic liberties in order for it to feel new and unique.
Even though this story is not historically accurate in the sense that it’s not based on real life events or people, we still did our absolute best to thoroughly research the era, culture and legends. But bare in mind that this adaptation was made by two non-Japanese creators, so errors in accuracy may be present. If this had been a real, original film project then we would naturally have hired film makers from a Japanese background to help us in it’s production. :3
DISCLAIMER: We do not own the movies which were used to created theses images. We only take credit for editing and the story. Movies used: Brother Bear II, Fantasia 2000, Grave of the Fireflies, Lilo & Stitch, Millennium Actress, Mulan I-II, Peter Pan II, Pocahontas I-II, Princess Mononoke, Wolf Children
Story Summary:
WINTERTIDE: The tale of Yuki Onna
(developed by TheNamlessDoll and Lettherebedoodles, written by Lettherebedoodles.)
Every Winter when the snow starts to fall, the people of Japan huddle inside their homes with their families, away from the frigid white wasteland beyond the door.
Every Winter she watches them through the frosted glass, her pale skin barely distinguished from the snow around her, her eyes glinting from behind waves of long ebony hair. It is her job to see that the snow falls, that the winter comes and resets the world, preparing for the new beginning… However, human’s don’t seem to like the cold. They dread her return, and shun her when she arrives. They fear her… she is alone.
Yuki-Onna, the snow woman.

Such beautiful illustrations and a wonderful tale. Does anyone know if there is an animation to go along with it?

Reading about abusive men and the way they think. Very unsettling and an incredible book so far. Here are my very professional notes.
what book is this?
This is from “Why Does He DO That” by Lundy Bancroft.
I’m so glad I’m seeing more and more Lundy Bancroft quotes on my dash because this book CHANGES THE LIVES OF ABUSE VICTIMS. The programs run for rehabilitating abusive men through the courts? Bancroft DESIGNED THEM. His programs are replicated ALL OVER THE WORLD. He literally wrote THE book on abuser rehabilitation.
Here’s a link to a pdf copy. If you haven’t read this book yet, read this book.
Can we talk about how it seems like the entirety of the book is online on PDF, this making it accessible to anyone with an internet connection?
That is how we stop abuse.
We enable everyone to know what it looks like, so that when it happens, they can shut it down.
Arm yrself with knowledge!
Changed my life, would reccomend.
Reblogging for the PDF link.

Always reblogging because this isn’t just a partner abuse thing, this is a common abuse tactic PERIOD: Parents, siblings, bosses, general assholes, etc…

new link (the old one is broken)
Pretty sure I’ve reblogged this like eight times, don’t care.
“Always reblogging because this isn’t just a partner abuse thing, this is a common abuse tactic PERIOD: Parents, siblings, bosses, general assholes, etc…”
Heads up guys. It moved again. https://www.pdf-archive.com/2015/10/21/why-does-he-do-that/ But if it breaks just use the sites custom search. :3 That’s how I found it.
i swear to god, men raising their voice is the most terrifying thing in the whole world. they dont understand, like its an immediate panic response, game over
I actually had no idea women found this so scary
my downstairs neighbors fight on a regular basis, and every time he starts yelling i’m a little afraid he’s going to kill her. i have no reason to think this except that he is a man and he is angry
My math teacher has a loud voice and a temper and he scares the living shit out of me almost everyday. He’s made me and other kids cry more than once and he and his teacher buddies make a joke out of terrifying students.
this was women in general? i knew my gf didn’t like it but I was unaware if this affected most women
Yes, it does
As a woman, I had no idea it effected other women like this. I was too afraid to even talk about it. I thought I was weak. Thanks for bringing attention to this.
My dad thinks it’s funny that I used to cry when he raised his voice. I freak out whenever some one does. Once my director did, and I started crying I couldn’t stop. I’m glad to see I’m not alone…
This is so important– seeing how common this is– and I also want you all to know that this is not normal. It isn’t something instinctively ingrained into women, to be afraid of men. There is no natural state of men being a threat that women constantly have to be afraid of. This is cultural. So many women and girls here have a mutual understanding of this feeling, and I think it really shows an unsettling truth about our society, particularly about how men are raised to act and how so many women have this defensive reaction gradually develop. It’s so important that these people have their voices heard, because it teaches us about problems that we just can’t deny the existence of any longer.
I’m glad I’m not the only one
My fellow men, pay attention. I didn’t realize how scary this could be until one of my exes explained it to me, and it’s heartbreaking.
Also, when we move too much during an argument, or lean forward, it’s scary, and I never knew. I was even a little insulted at first, because surely she didn’t think I would hurt her. But see, that doesn’t matter. It wasn’t a sign that she mistrusted me specifically; it’s a conditioned response. (Although if you keep doing it once you realize it scares her, she SHOULDN’T trust you.)
Not every woman has been physically harmed by a man she trusted, but every woman KNOWS a woman who has.
I used to be horrible about this, because I didn’t realize how intimidating it was. I didn’t understand why the woman I was with clammed up or tried to tell me what she thought I wanted to hear, and I only got angrier, and acted even more like an asshole. It was wrong. It was abusive. It didn’t matter if I INTENDED it that way; it was still emotionally abusive. And it was inexcusable.
I get that when passions are high, and when you’re frustrated, it’s a natural tendency to let your voice get louder, to shout and gesture and lean forward. But you can train yourself to do better. You can train yourself to keep more of an even tone, to refrain from large and fast gestures, to not lean into her personal space. I did. I’m not perfect at it yet, but goddamn it, I WILL be.
Don’t tell me it’s too hard, that you just can’t do it, or that you “shouldn’t have to.” I’m 53 years old and just now getting the hang of it, and if this old dog can learn something new, so can you.
Note to guys: It really, REALLY doesn’t matter if you’re thinking, “but I would never…”
History is littered with the bodies of women who believed a man “would never.” This includes women killed by men who honestly, deeply, truly believed they “would never”… right up until she said that one thing or moved in just that way and he just got so mad, just that once, and pushed her or punched her or slashed her or shot her… just once, y’know, to shut her up, or because she was flinching and didn’t she know that HE’S NOT LIKE THAT and I’LL TEACH HER TO BE AFRAID OF ME…
We are trained, from infancy, that Men With Loud Voices are a source of pain from which we cannot escape, and attempts to escape may result in more pain. And as soon as we’re old enough to comprehend a world broader than our immediate circle, a world that extends into the past and will run into the future, we realize that there is no way, no way at all, to tell which men “would never” and which men “would never… except if.”
We live or die on that “if.” And any man who doesn’t like facing that hyper-vigilance can work on fixing OTHER MEN, not women’s fear.
The reaction shouldn’t be “not all men are like that;” it should be “no woman should have to live in fear.”
It’s telling that so many people will hear a story of long-term abuse and say, “why did she stay with him?” and not “why did he treat her like that?”
This made me cry.
Don’t skip over this.
Still one of my top three scenes in TV history :)
“Bravo, writers, for acknowledging your mistakes. Now…….BRING BACK THE REAL TITANS!!!”
WHAT EPISODE OH MY GOD
This show just roasted itself into oblivion? ??????
Then Smaug spoke.
“Well, thief! I smell you and I feel your air. I hear your breath. Come along! Help yourself again, there is plenty and to spare!”
But Bilbo was not quite so unlearned in dragon-lore as all that, and if Smaug hoped to get him to come nearer so easily he was disappointed. “No thank you, O Smaug the Tremendous!” he replied.

The first sin. Misconception is that Eve was the first to sin when that’s not really all that true.
You see When God created everything and then Adam. He told him about the tree he said don’t eat of it.
God never told Eve.
When Eve was in the garden being tempted read that section you’ll find something interesting. Adam was right next to her and he didn’t say anything. He was using Eve as a Guinea pig.
Eve bit into the fruit nothing changed she handed it to Adam. And when he bit into it their eyes were opened.
So really the first sin was Man’s passive nature allowing something to happen he was told not to allow happen if he never ate their eyes may never have been opened but who knows.

I was in a bible study we went over this part and I just sat there like “wait what?!?”
Yup! This is so real!
So what you’re saying is the original sin was man not fucking protecting his wife lmao
Adam was a fuck boy?
Omfg! I’ve had this argument so many times!
Apparently a theory is that we’re sinful because we have human fathers. Jesus was born of Mary without a human dad which is why he was pure.

Libraries are free, mostly. Pretty much everything millennials are “killing” costs money.
Plus, unlike half the stuff we’re killing, libraries actually have a practical use
we out here
Not to be *that* millennial, but as a librarian I’d just like to say that the greatest thing you can do to support your local library is to understand how they are funded and to support their funding with your vote. Libraries can do a lot all on their own but quite often they cannot legally “toot their own horn” so-to-speak when it comes to advocating for sustaining or increasing funding, getting levies or bond issues passed, etc. Libraries need you to love them not just with your checkouts and attendance at programs.
We can do that too.
build libraries on dead golf courses.
We Are Dewey’s Army X3
Friendly reminder that many Libraries double function as free schools and other free resources, sometimes including otherwise inaccessible technology, like 3D printers.
The libraries in my city host ‘English as a Secondary Language’ classes, cooking classes, classes on how to use that 3D printer, local history classes, responsible naturalistic gardening classes, beekeeping classes, and all sorts of other fun topics. Plus the plethora of clubs that use the library conference rooms as their meeting place.
All for free.
Support and visit your local library. Ask about their services and classes. VOTE TO KEEP THEM FUNDED
I’m a librarian and I can’t stress this enough!
Also a librarian, if my library wasn’t here I’m not actually sure what half the population of the town would do with themselves.
Also sign up for library cards, even if you don’t go to your local library’s physical location you can usually get ebooks/audiobooks sent to your laptop or kindle and they’ll just disappear on their due date, you don’t have to do anything other than check them out
Sometimes local library websites will also have a space where you can donate or a book wishlist and I recommend checking that out as well
