Trump is trying to kill off the last buffalos in the US just so companies and farmers can have more space for their livestock cattle to graze
This is a painful reminder of the buffalo slaughter of the 1800s, when white colonizers tried to kill off all of the buffalo just to keep native American people from having resources.
Another reminder about how human oppression and animal oppression are inexorably linked, and you can't liberate one without the other.
Colonizers commit mass killing/full exterminations of native wildlife to further the genocide of native peoples and make way for the exploitation and abuse of imported farmed animals, which is further damaging to the environment and human health in general. It happens in every colonized area, from the bison in the US to the eels in Aotearoa.
People can fight these bills all they want, but they're going to keep coming if we continue to shill for and pay the companies that fund them. Stop giving them money if you can avoid it.
The mass killing of bison matters because it's used to harm native people.
It matters because bison are living creatures that feel emotions and pain and don't deserve to be killed.
It matters because the cattle that will be grazed on that land don't deserve to be exploited and killed for money, for a burger.
It matters because the native predators don't deserve to be killed for 'harming' profits.

A man wakes up from a coma that he's been in since 2008. "I've missed so much!" He says. "Tell me who the president is! Where is my beloved immunocompromised wife? How is my home in Pacific Palisades?"
The doctor puts a gentle hand on his shoulder, "It's never easy to tell people this." She lets out a weary sigh, "Amy Adams hasn't been in very many good movies."
I find it so insidious how people see the obvious correlation between autism and gender non conformity and say it’s because autists are somehow biologically more transgender on average rather than realizing that gender as a whole is a oppressive construct that punishes those who aren’t good at fitting into social norms
Upon combing through available Epstein files I can say that nothing was particularly unique to the elite, detached, cabalistic pedophile group that most people believe in. Epstein and Maxwell weren’t snatching children off the streets, never to be heard from again, and chained up and ritualistically murdered by people in robes. The way he obtained his victims was no different than how sex trafficking functions all around the globe. They were lured in by the promise of quick easy money while in school if you did “this really easy thing”. His victims lead seemingly normal lives outside of it. Besides his immense power and wealth, the depositions make him out to sound like he could be any guy.
And he really is no different than the middle aged teacher busted for soliciting an underage student, or the European man who travels abroad for sex tourism, or the study abroad student who visits a German brothel where the women barely understand the language, or the guy who regularly visits massage parlors (which is the most common form of sex trafficking), or a man with CSAM on his computer, or the 30 year old man with a teenage girlfriend. You could pass any of these men on the street on a random Tuesday. There aren’t any hidden clues devilishly planted around the celebrity sphere that point towards a secret underground adrenochrome harvesting farm. It’s much more likely that your neighbor Joe Schmo has more in common with Epstein than he wants to admit.
We need to stop believing that pedophilia and sex trafficking are unique evils encapsulated in a bubble that lies outside of society. It is society.
People who tell women they're classist for feeling unsafe around homeless men don't care about homeless women. As a woman who has been on and off homeless my whole life I see more care and resources be afforded men. The reason you don't see as many homeless women is because we are often hiding because of how dangerous it is for us. Not because there's less of us or that we somehow have it easier than men. Housed men offer us shelter in order to rape us and homeless men just rape us.
i keep fighting this feeling that as long as i’m single i don’t really have anything of value to say about being a lesbian, because what would i know about loving women? but i really think this solitude, being single for years and being forced to develop self sufficiency, becoming an island because no one else is like you, are all defining parts of the lesbian experience that have nothing to do with romantic relationships. like, my only relationship was in college and i know a lot of bi women whose only romantic experience with a woman was in college; now, though, they’re all married to men and preparing for children, while i’m…. still by myself, preparing for a future in which i’m potentially always alone. the loneliness feels just as central to the lesbian experience as being with a woman. a lot of being a lesbian is about feeling like you were dropped on an alien planet with flaws and inconsistencies that are only visible to you. and i don’t need to be in a relationship for the way i experience the world to be worth talking about.

Happy international women’s day anything that can be destroyed by women’s liberation should be destroyed by women’s liberation xoxo

The cliché that when women are liberated men will be liberated too shamelessly slides over the raw reality of male domination — as if this were an arrangement in fact arranged by nobody, which suits nobody, which works to nobody’s advantage. In fact, the very opposite is true. The domination of men over women is to the advantage of men; the liberation of women will be at the expense of male privilege. Perhaps afterwards, in some happy sense, men will be liberated too — liberated from the tiresome obligation to be ‘masculine.’ But allowing oppressors to lay down their psychological burdens is quite another, secondary sense of liberation. The first priority is to liberate the oppressed. Never before in history have the claims of oppressed and oppressors turned out to be, on inspection, quite harmonious. It will not be true this time either. - Susan Sontag
stop spreading despair and nihilism
stop buying into the idea that nonviolent activism is useless, rather than (by far) the most effective form of protest
stop falsely claiming that BLM accomplished nothing and that most citizens “don’t care” when people are murdered by the state
start understanding that most of your neighbors care about your rights, and their own
start noticing that most people are moved by injustice, including against people who look nothing like them

1 year later: 750k people are dead directly because Trump won and Kamala Harris lost. Most of them are children.
One year ago today (20 January), the Trump administration exploded the global health sector by immediately “pausing” all aid for 90 days – a
I've been saying it for the past year, but it bears repeating: this is what happens when Republicans win and Democrats lose. The reason why people online are outright ignoring this or screaming lies about USAID being evil imperialism is because they want you to look away from the blood on their hands and can't admit the parties are not the same. None of them made nicknames for Trump, Musk, or Rubio accusing them of genocide because they don't want to admit that the 2024 election had such catastrophic consequences for the poorest people in the world who they like to pretend to care about.
Every eligible voter who didn't vote for Kamala Harris did this, there is nothing they can ever do that will make up for it, and if that makes them mad, then they shouldn't have chosen to be the stupidest, most selfish assholes alive during an extremely high-stakes election.
