Not my favorite! Which is surprising bc when I do dabble into MCU territory, I love a good found family fic with Peter Parker at the center of it. But I’m just not really a fan of him showing up in Gotham? Idk why

i have noticed that, depending on wheter or not the author prefers Marvel or DC, they sorta dumb down the characters from the other universe, like if they prefer DC then they almost always make Peter act in awe of the technology of the Bats and just in awe of the bats in general (which fair, they're pretty cool and are REALLY good at their jobs) but it's always written in a very condescending tone-

and they make the bats kinda arrogant but again in a condescending way, like they act surperior, which in my personal opinion is OOC for most iterations of the bats, they know their skills and they know their limits and they don't really brag about their skills, at least not seriously.

AND if the author prefers Marvel, then they usually make Peter kinda look down on the bats and react to them in a ''yeah, this technology is actually really primitive where i'm from'' sorta way, which again, is OOC for Peter, like even IF the technology was ''primitive'' compared to home, he'd be so excited to play around with the technology and see what is different from the stuff back home- And they often low-key ''Martyr'' Peter in a way too which eh, arguably canon but it's not super different or any worse than most any other superhero sobstory in my opinion, they also make the bats sorta act like Peter is overly fragile because he's an orphan and poor and create story conflict that way, when the bats would never act like that, they'd have empathy ofc, mostly being orphans in someway themselves and a lot of them having lived in some level of poverty during parts of their lives.

after i noticed it myself i also couldn't bring myself to read most of the ''Peter in Gotham'' fics cause usually they don't do justice to the characters on either side lol

idk if i'm making any sense, just thought i'd share what i've noticed and it might be a reason for why you don't really vibe with those types of fics, like idk if i've just read bad fics or if i'm overthinking things lol but this is my opinion at least.

I am a PASSIONATE commenter on fanfiction, but sometimes it slows down my reading because I don't want to read if I don't have the mental energy to leave the long comments I want to

Still, as an author, I know even a short note can mean the world.

So, I put together a little guide with different “levels” of comments, so it’s easier to leave something without overthinking!

Hopefully this helps someone else too!

I got another spam comment today on AO3, and I want to share it as a PSA. But before I do, I want you to understand that you SHOULD NOT DO what this comment is asking. Ok? Ok.

See that bit at the bottom? Don't do that. Insert ParamedicGuy.gif going "Don't."

Other malicious spam comments I've gotten seemed designed to make an author question their writing, or outright encourage them to delete their stories from AO3. This one is different, in that it tries to get you to destroy the work on your own computer.

If you ran that command, it basically locates your Documents folder, then deletes everything in it, including all subfolders. It also does it without any prompt, so you have no chance to second guess your actions.

This is just fucking trolling.

Coincidentally, we just did training on a cyberattack similar to this, called a ClickFix attack. You can read about how that works here.

As a general rule, if ANYONE or ANY WEBSITE tells you unsolicited* to do anything in Powershell, CMD RUN, command prompt, shell command, or something similar, DON'T.

*There are legit reasons for running commands in PowerShell or the command prompt, but in those cases you are likely seeking out a solution to a problem you are already experiencing. Don't just run random commands on your computer as recommended by some unlogged-in guest on a fan fiction site.

Always think and consider before taking action, and get a second opinion from a trusted source. When I got this comment I was pretty sure what the command would do, and it took me about three seconds of googling to confirm it.

After beating the RE4 Remake I bring you, InfectionRE AU!                            ((An infection AU remake))

Because of the constant stress from fighting, Leon’s Plaga is developing faster than normal. It doesn’t help that Luis cannot find the medicine needed to suppress it’s growth, so things look bleak. That is until Luis finds something he completely forgot about.

While Luis’s main research was on removing the Plaga, he also was looking for a way to change the Plaga’s relationship with the host from parasitic to symbiotic. Allowing one to retain their mind while the Plaga would keep the host safe by genetically healing or enhancing their body. 

Before he left Los Illuminados, Luis was able to make a prototype formula and offers it to Leon, who refuses. The last thing he wants is to become a monster, but time and luck are not on his side.

Soon, Leon’s arms and face are covered in black veins, and Saddler’s voice is getting louder. Luis offers him the formula one more time, promising Leon he will fix him after, and Leon with a grim nod, takes it.

Leon can only cry out as his body is then morphed by parasite, transforming his body into a more durable and deadlier form. When it’s done, Saddler’s voice is gone and Leon’s mind is crystal clear, his humanity retained.

Now he has to keep both Luis and Ashley safe and get out of this hellhole in Spain, all the while living his worst nightmare.

I started drawing Dick with his mom and dad taking care of baby Dick after a nightmare... than it kind of went from there.

I imagined they had this big blanket his Mary treasured, but one day, Dick accidentally ripped it. So she cut off the damaged piece, fixed the edges, embroidered it, and turned it into a mini version just for him.

That got me thinking about how confusing everything must’ve been after his parents died, and how much must’ve been lost. I mean, I’m sure Bruce, Alfred, or even Haly’s Circus tried to return his parents’ belongings to him, but realistically, it’s hard to believe nothing got lost in all that chaos.

So… cue the angst.

The concept of the justice league not knowing batman and Nightwing are family so at one point they have Nightwing help on some big justice league mission and everyone is so exhausted after that dick ends up falling asleep while leaning against Bruce and we just see Bruce pull his cape over dicks shoulder like a blanket and lean his head back to get some rest himself… the just league is worried he might be possessed
