Imagine Having Your Very Own Museum
Museums have traditionally been used as galleries of objects that help to tell the story of the world we live in. They do this by showing us our history, science, art and culture.
With that said, we have got something to share with you today. We are about to release our brand new iOS app and with it we are going to give the notion of museums a new spin.
What if you had your very own personal museum?
With Collectibly's iOS app, we want to help you create and curate your own personal museum where you get to share and showcase interesting things that you own, whether it’s your sporting gear, your beloved automobile or the latest bag you bought. It's also a place where things you own connect you to others with similar interests. Be prepared to discover more things that you’ll fancy as you explore the app.
We’re building Collectibly because we believe that there’s more to the things we own than their mere physical presence and the space they occupy. With Collectibly, you’ll be able to tell your own story through the things you own and we can’t wait to have you start creating your personal museum with us.
What would you showcase in your personal museum?

Let's Play 2013 - Tabletop Gaming and Geek Culture Celebration in Singapore Part 2
There was quite a bit going on at Cheng San CC during Let's Play. Majority of the hall of the event was actually dedicated to miniature gaming and card gaming tournaments.
TableTop Miniatures Gaming / Tournaments
About half the hall was filled with tabletop miniatures gaming. The area that each game requires is huge. But looking at the hordes and hordes of miniature army bashing each other up in miniature dice roll combat is fantastic.
Tournaments that happened:
Warhammer 40k "A Time For Legends" Tournament by Play! Events
Star Wars X-Wing Nationals by Battle Bunker & Gamersaurus Rex
Warhammer Fantasy Battles ETC Team Fromat Tournament by Play! Events
Warmachine / Hordes Steamroller Tournament by Play! Events
Heroclix GMARC (Giant, Monster, Armor, Robot, Colossal) Constructed Tournament
Card Game Tournaments
One of my favorite genre of tabletop games! The creativity of deck building keeps card games interesting and we weren't short of paper characters duking it out on the tables that day.
Tournaments that happened:
Magic The Gathering (of course!) "Uncut Sheet" Challenge by SGCards
A Game of Thrones LCG "Hand of The King" Joust Open by Gamersaurus Rex
Vanguard Cardfight Tournament by Dueller's Point
Android Netrunner LCG Tournament by Gamersaurus Rex
The day was awesome fun for all whether cosplaying, card gaming, board gaming or miniature gaming. We're looking forward to more such events in Singapore!
Let's Play 2013 - Tabletop Gaming and Geek Culture Celebration in Singapore Part 1
It may not be International Tabletop Day but that did not stop a bunch of Singaporean tabletop gaming lovers and cosplayers from converging at Cheng San CC on 7th and 8th September for two full days of tabletop gaming goodness in an event called Let's Play 2013.
Board Games Buffet by NTU Fast Forward Games Club
We went down to join in the fun on Sunday, 8th Sep and thanks to the board games buffet, we managed to play 3 different games in an afternoon of fun. Check out all the games they brought down ranging from party to strategic!
It was cool that they were pretty liberal with who they lent the games to. Security in the area was low and anyone might have just stolen the games. But we all believe in karma don't we?
Good karma to NTU FF then, for we had loads of fun playing Ticket to Ride, Munchkin and Settlers of Catan!
Let's Cosplay! by NEO Tokyo Project
Cosplay at a neighbourhood CC! That's right! The cosplayers did not use the excuse of being at a neighborhood event to skimp on their efforts. Lots of them still put in a lot of time and work to make sure their costumes are looking their best on stage.
The cosplay event definitely added quite a bit of comic / manga atmosphere to the event. And of course, cosplayers with their colorful costumes are always a feast for the eyes.
We'll share more pictures for the day tomorrow with some miniatures and card gaming action so stay tuned!
STGCC 2013 Montage

Be an expert! Rate, Review and Learn about the things you own.
Some of you have been sharing your thoughts on things you own, and these thoughts have helped others make better decisions on what to get. We want to help make sharing these useful information better.

What's coming:
Ratings and Reviews
When you add new items to your collections, you'll now be able to Rate it and write a Review instead of writing Thoughts. Thoughts will now be known as Personal Notes.
What's the difference between Personal Notes and Reviews?
Personal notes on items can contain information about your item such as the condition of the item.
Reviews should help communicate what you like about an item, why you bought it and whether you'd recommend it to others.
Be the First
The old adage of the early bird catching the worm holds true here at Collectibly. With the Reviews feature being rolled out, be the first to leave a review for an item and you will gain a "First Review" badge that's shown alongside your review.
In order to make this work, we will remove any reviews that are deemed as spam. Reviews are meant for sharing useful information with others. Let's keep this community a great one to be in.
Vote for Helpful Reviews
When you find a review helpful, do give it a vote of confidence. It helps to surface the best reviews and also acts as a simple 'thank you' for the user who left the review.
--
Other Site Updates:
Your profile has been updated to show your recent activities so you always know what you recently added.
You can re-order your pictures right after you're done uploading them.
--
You've shown us that Collectibly can be a great place to not only help you track and share the awesome stuff you have, but also help provide reviews, recommendations and information that will be beneficial for you and everyone else visiting the site.
The new Reviews and Ratings feature is a work-in-progress and we really appreciate any feedback and thoughts about it. Have criticisms or suggestions? We'd love to hear from you! Send us a feedback through the feedback widget at the right hand side of the site, or email us at [email protected]

Lynn
During this internship period, we've worked and learned together as a team, built on the product, created amazing content and grown the user base. A lot of what we have achieved in the past few months wouldn't have been possible without them.
To the interns, I'd like to say a big thank you for joining us. It was awesome having you people as part of the team. Always remember the 3 Rules of being part of Collectibly. :)
Despicable Me 2 Collectibles
No way we can let the week of release of Despicable Me 2 pass without a guide/review on minion collectibles, could we? It’s also this time of the year that toy manufacturers start unveiling their new Despicable Me 2 product lines to satisfy fans’ craving for more minion cuteness and madness. Are you ready to build your own minion army? Read on to find out what the available Despicable Me 2 toys are out there and how you can acquire these awesome figures.
Thinkway Toys
Thinkway Toys is one of the two major manufacturers of Despicable Me 2 toys. This is a short review for all their products available in Toysrus stores.
Despicable Me 2 8" Talking Action Figures series
Thinkway Toys come out with a whole series of high quality 8" talking/singing action figures which were made with extremely fine details, various articulation points and a plethora of funny verbal responses and facial expressions. These 8" talking action figures are available in 4 characters - Dave, Stuart, Tim and Gru. Their reactions look very natural and real and we think that they are pretty cool and fun to play with. However, these talking action figures are a bit pricey (S$119.90) in Singapore compared to that of only US$34.90 in the US.
You can order from their website and Toysrus will ship the product to the outlets nearest to you or directly to your house depending on where you are.
Despicable Me 2 Minion Stuart Laughing Action Figure (8"). Available in Toysrus outlets and online stores worldwide.
Despicable Me 2 Minion Dave Talking Action Figure (8").
Despicable Me 2 Minion Tim Singing Action Figure (8")
Do check out these extremely useful reviews by avid toys collector Justin Jayubo on his Youtube channel and blog at Monsterbento.com if your are thinking of acquiring these minions. According to Justin, Talking Dave has the best value for money because of the "banana mode", which is the coolest feature among the three talking minions. It's obvious that these toys are not only made for children because we bet Despicable Me adult fans would love to have these too!
Have these action figures? Catalog your collection on Collectibly now!
Despicable Me 2 Deluxe Action Figure 4.75" series:
If the 8" talking action figures are too expensive for your budget, Thinkway Toys offers toy lovers another series to turn to - Despicable Me 2 4.75" Deluxe Action Figures series. Although the toys in this series measure only half the size of the talking figures, that does not make them any less cool or fun to play with. They are all well-equipped with awesome gadgets and weapons such as fart guns and rocket launchers (for Dave and Stuart) or with a wide range of adorable accessories (for Baby Carl).
Despicable Me 4.75" Deluxe Action Figures - available in: Stuart with Fart Dart Launcher, Dave with Rocket Launcher, Gru with H.2.O Shooter, Build-A-Minion - Baby Carl, Build-A-Minion Mr. Tim for US$16.99 in Toysrus.
Despicable Me 2 Collectible Action Figure 2" series:
Although they are very detailed and pose-able action figures with nice vibrant colors, we do agree with SWCCToy Review TV that they are a tad overpriced for what buyers will get. However, it's a good choice for those who are facing the constraint of space to display their collections.
Despicable Me 2 Collectible Action Figure 2" - available in: Gru, Dr.Nefario, Minion Stuart, Minion Rock Start, Minion Phil, Minion Fireman, Minion Dave, Minion Golfer, Minion Ninja for US$9.90 in Toysrus.
Have these items? Catalog your collection on Collectibly now!
Despicable Me MiniFigure set - Blind Bags Surprise Figures:
Although these figure are much smaller, they do look very nice and are way cheaper (~US$2.99 in Toysrus) than the US$9.90 collectible action figures. The blind bag set includes Minion Dave, Tom, Stuart, Tim, Carl, Evil Minion, Margo, Edith, Agnes, Gru, Dr. Nefario, Lucy, Eduardo, Antonio and the Unicorn. You can get these blind bags from Toysrus stores and some reviewers said that they bought it from Walmart too. So do look out for these cool guys when you go shopping!
Have these items? Catalog your collection on Collectibly now!
Funko POP! Movies
Funko is the second official manufacturer of Despicable Me 2 toys that we can find after scouring the Internet. Although Funko's Despicable Me 2 series doesn't have as many items as that of Thinkway Toys, their vinyl toys are of good quality and probably not overpriced. As for all vinyl toys, Funko's figures lack articulations and hence there are only few interactions you can do with the toys. Nevertheless, they are very nice to display.
Funko released their "POP! Movies: Despicable Me 2" series on May 2nd - featuring Gru, Agnes, Minion Carl, Dave and Evil Minion from the movie.
Since Toysrus.com does not ship worldwide, you can check out these alternative retailers when buying Despicable Me 2 toys. Prices therefore can vary respectively:
Toywiz.com: shipping world wide
Popcultcha.com: operating in Australia; able to ship to Europe, America and Japan
Smythstoys.com: operating in the UK
Bigw.com: operating in Australia
Universal Orlando toy stores
Simply Toys: operating in Singapore (Prices are relatively cheaper than ToysRUs)
If you want to collect minion plushies instead of action figures, there are plenty of sellers on ebay and amazon. For minion collectors in Singapore, these plush toys can be bought from gmarket (q0010.sg), hardwarezone.com.sg or www.passiongadgets.com.
So brace yourself and get ready for this massive minion invasion!
Also, be sure to check out our infographic guide to Who's who of the minions if you haven't!

Heroclix miniature superheroes! Featured Collector #5: Alan Nadriz
This week we met up with Heroclix collector Alan, whose collection of Heroclix miniature collectibles is most likely the largest in Singapore! If you are unfamiliar with Heroclix, it is a board game that is unique because it revolves around the use of collectible miniature figures, also known as "Clix". Players form a team using their favourite characters (mainly superheroes from the Marvel and DC Universe but can also include characters from various video games and movies, like Halo and Lord of the Rings) to challenge other players’ teams.
Alan with some of the most precious figures in his Heroclix collection. This is only the icing on a very large cake, really.
Alan showed us the collection that he amassed over about ten years and explained the rules of Heroclix to us (we admit, we were complete noobs at this). We even played a 6-man (technically 5-man 1-lady) Free-For-All format using some of Alan’s Heroclix figures! We were terrible at it but like with most activities, if your friends are terrible too then it can actually turn out to be quite fun. In fact, we all had a great time!
Alan giving us a crash course on the basics of Heroclix.
Red Hulk decided midway that the game was moving too slowly for his liking and decided to take matters into his own hands. Human noobs!
We were surprised to learn that Alan stopped playing Heroclix for about five years due to a lack of player base and community support but decided to make a comeback when he chanced upon a group of active local (Singaporean) Heroclix players. Since then, he has reunited with his childhood love for comic book superheroes and continues to expand his Heroclix collection (estimated to be worth over S$10,000 now).
In an effort to grow the local Heroclix community, he organizes regular tournaments to promote Heroclix in Singapore. Some of the self-sourced tournament prizes he offers are nothing to be scoffed at either! Now that’s dedication folks.
Alan offered rare Fear Itself boosters as prizes for a recent tournament he organised in June this year.
1. What is it about the Heroclix game that you like most?
Besides being able to use the comic book characters, I think I like the strategies as well. You always have to try to outwit the opponents and come up with new strategies to defeat your opponent. I have a penchant for playing funky characters, e.g. the Sinister Six and the Sinister Syndicate. They are not very strong but they have plenty of tricks up their sleeves. Also, it can be too obvious if you keep using Superman and Batman. Most of the local players like to use Avengers. The funky stuff might not work all the time but when they do work, people are like “Whaattt?” and I’m like “Yeahh!” (evil maniacal laugh).
Spider-Man and the Sinister Six. You are not seeing things - there are three Mysterios here! He retains his powers of illusion even in Heroclix.
2. Do you have a favourite series or figure from your Heroclix collection?
I have to say it’s Batman. I read and collect lots of Batman comics, and he has always been my favourite character. So I have quite a few Batman clix. The most recent is the Batman series where they introduced quite a number of mechanics and vehicles to the game.
My favourite figure is the Gargoyle Batman (#099 from Arkham Asylum), which has a very nice sculpt. I acquired it through Ebay a long time ago. It is quite hard to get because it’s a chase (i.e. extremely rare). The price I got it at was still reasonable as it belonged to a relatively new set. Now it can go for over $100(!).
Gargoyle Batman (a.k.a. Lamppost Batman) - Alan's personal favourite figure, and probably our favourite too.
3. Do you regret spending so much on your collection?
No, I don’t. I think most of the collectors will agree with me. They don’t regret when it comes to their hobbies. The regret is when you can’t get the figures you want, not about how much money you have spent on your collection. The urge of completing my collection is more important than worrying about the money. One day when I can finally have my own place, I plan to display my entire Heroclix collection in display cupboards. Then again, if I want to display everything I will have to have a very big house! That’s what I hope to accomplish eventually.
4. Is it easy for a beginner to start playing and collecting Heroclix?
For a beginner player, you don’t need to spend that much in order to play unless you are a hardcore collector and you want to chase every single figure. Gameplay wise, it is fun. Since everybody knows who is Batman, who is Iron man from the movies so it’s very easy for people to pick up the game. Moreover, if you read comics, I don’t think there would be any hindrances or obstacles in playing the game. So if there are any hobbyists or collectors who are interested in Heroclix, they can contact me and I will introduce to them the game.
Counter-top displays and starter sets like these are a good option for new players looking to build their own Heroclix army.
5. Do you think Collectibly can be useful for Heroclix collectors?
I think it would be useful because firstly, they can categorize or keep a catalogue of their figures. Secondly, if they can view each other’s catalogues, it would be easier for them to trade. And I guess more people will know about the game and would want to play the game if they see our collections or like certain sculpts.
Alan's prized Fear Itself collection. This unique set cannot be bought at retail stores; it can only be won through tournaments.
Alan's Giant Sized X-Men set was the most challenging for him to attain because it had sold out during his 5-year hiatus from Heroclix. Watch a collector's unboxing of this set on Youtube here.
Chase figures from the Teen Titans set including the highly sought-after Superboy Prime (third from right)!
White Lantern Chase figures from the DC 75th Anniversary set.
We could not help but be awe-inspired by the intricate sculpts even on miniatures this tiny.
If you would like to know more about the Heroclix community in Singapore, join their Facebook group that is managed by Alan and his friends. The players play regularly every Saturday and hold regular tournaments. They welcome newcomers and are constantly trying to grow the local Heroclix player base.

Despicable Me 2: The ultimate collection of movie clips, TV spots and trailers
Are you ready for more Minions madness? Despicable Me 2 is making its comeback to theaters this month to quench your thirst for a good laugh and a great family time. If you are still sitting on the fences, trying to decide whether you should head down to watch Despicable Me 2 on the silver screen in two weeks time, we hope you can make up your mind after seeing all these awesome video clips. For those hardcore Despicable Me fans, if you have fallen in love with the first movie of this sequel, you will certainly adore this one. So, here are our exclusive compilation of sneak peeks at some of the most wacky and hilarious scenes from the movie, just for YOU!
1. Trailers:
The Minions steal the spotlight in the first trailer of Despicable Me 2. It seems like they are abducted by a mysterious force in the movie:
The second trailer reveals Gru’s new adventure as he is recruited by the Anti-Villain League to help them “fight crime on a global scale”. Working side by side with Lucy, his new colleague and potential soul-mate Gru takes on a journey to save the world while trying to be a good dad and taking care for the children. In the meantime, he is terrified as his oldest daughter - Margo - wants to start dating. With lots of cool gadgets, weapons and outrageously hilarious minions, the movie is obviously a must-see this summer.
2. Teaser trailers:
Our all time favorite Banana Potato song is here again as the first teaser of the movie. Cuteness overloaded!
3. Movie Clips:
An inside look at Despicable Me 2, featuring Steve Carell:
Despicable Me 2 says: “Happy Father’s Day!”:
Gru is having a hard time asking Lucy out for a date:
This is how the Minions save Gru and Lucy. And one more thing, Minions + Car = Chick magnet!
A new breed of minions will also make its presence in Despicable Me 2. Brave yourself because they are a bunch of purple-ish insane devils! They also love bananas very much so this basically means minion's war.
4. TV spots:
TV spot: Excuses
We think that Agnes’ new voice is a tad weird because it doesn't seem like that of such a small child like Agnes. What do you think?
TV Spot: Bee-do!
We can’t stop pushing the replay button because that “Bee-do” sound is so addicting!
5. Official soundtracks:
Don’t miss out this lighthearted official music video from Despicable Me 2! This song is absolutely the most effective mood-lifter to turn your frown upside down. Performed by genius music producer Pharrell William with a simple upbeat and infectious tune, this original soundtrack never fails to make listeners fall in love with it.
Do check out these two unofficial music videos in Despicable Me 2 performed by the minions if you haven't done so. They will surely crack you up!
6. More and more minions clips:
Minions are now the new icons of Chiquita Brands:
They are also endorsed to be the campaign ambassadors to promote good movie theater etiquette:
We think our lives are brighter watching these minions:
Just a little heads up for all fans out there, as you guys have always wanted this to happen, our adorable yellow critters are going to have their own film next year. A spin-off from the Despicable Me franchise, Minions is scheduled to be released on December 19, 2014 with Oscar winner Sandra Bullock and Mad Men’s actor Jon Hamm lending their voices to the minions.
In the meantime, Despicable Me 2 is going to burst into theaters worldwide July 3rd, 2013. We are all stoked, how about you?

Man of Steel Collectibles
We've been psyching ourselves up all of last week for the opening of Man of Steel, which sent us scrambling to theatres worldwide. For toy collectors it's that time of the year again where we scour the internet for Man of Steel collectibles. Big guns Hot Toys and Sideshow have recently unveiled their range of Man of Steel collectibles (yay!). The bad news is that they are estimated to be available only in the first quarter of 2014.
Hot Toys
Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series 1/6th Scale Superman Action Figure. Available for pre-order at US$199.99.
Sideshow Collectibles
Sideshow Premium Format 1/4th Scale Statue. Available for pre-order at US$379.99.
Mattel
Next, here's the range of collectibles from Mattel's Movie Masters series.
Mattel's impression of Superman looks pretty good and detailed for its price (US$21.99 - US$28.99 on ToyWiz). Check out all the Man of Steel toys that are available in the Movie Masters series here. See a video review of the Superman figurine by Youtuber Sean Long below.
And here's Jor-El from the same Movie Masters series. Evidently he bears a decent resemblance to Russell Crowe.
General Zod in his battle Kryptonian armour was released in Wave 2 of Mattel's Movie Masters series. We think that he looks pretty badass and you'll likely feel the same. There is also another version of Zod without his armour, and a third version of him in shackles.
Zod's emotionless lieutenant, Faora, is also included in this series. Trust me, she's one tough Kryptonian and is capable of kicking some serious butt.
If you're still unsatisfied, here's a video overview of all the action figures from Wave 1 and Wave 2 of the Man of Steel Movie Masters series!
DC Collectibles
Meanwhile, here's a preview to the DC Collectibles Man of Steel 1/6th scale statues seen earlier this year at Wondercon 2013. View DC Collectibles' Man of Steel line-up in the Collectibly database here.
Jor-El certainly looks menacing in his golden suit of armour.
Seen together here are Jor-El and his son Kal-el, better known as the caped superhero Superman.
A close-up of the Man of Steel.
The detailing of the features on the statue by DC Collectibles is immaculate, as seen from the close resemblance to Henry Cavill.
Each 1/6th scale statue retails at US$130 from DC Entertainment. Interested to know more? Read IGN's detailed review of DC Collectibles' Man of Steel statues here.
