not sure how to phrase this post but there's got to be a word for this weird category of male writer (e.g. D.H. Lawrence, Stephen King) who clearly understands (certain aspects of) the operation of the patriarchy very keenly and who writes female characters with a fully-realized interiority that often transcends their male contemporaries, and yet despite that is frequently and not entirely unfairly called a misogynist

Making motivational "it's never too late to transition" posts is really undercut if the age you're highlighting is still young. Claiming that your transition was late and it worked out great for you actually makes older people more afraid to transition if you're saying that shit in your 20s. How do you think a trans person in their 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s feels when you're 23 and calling yourself a late transitioner?
It's never too late until you're in a coffin. It is worth it for a single day of being yourself, even if you're 110.

Shinji Ikari in RGU: Very conflicted. Pretty likely to treat Anthy like Rei and wanting to protect her just like Utena does, but by projecting his mom on her, so closer to Miki. However since he's a boy, Akio wouldn't manipulate him as he does Utena, but as he does Touga and Saionji. His self-esteem issues would make him the perfect target, as the affirmation of the patriarchy also offers a path to accepting "It's ok for me to be here". Unlikely to break the cycle and save Anthy, most likely to end up as just another abusive Duelist (and not a particularly good one).

They should just bite the bullet and make a female James Bond. Hot, athletic, suave. She wears tuxedos with a somewhat feminine cut, drinks vodka martinis, drives sports cars, and goes by "James", because why not.
Also, because this is incredibly important to Bond for some reason, she needs to be an incredibly predatory, womanizing lesbian. Some perfectly happy married straight woman needs to become gay by the end of the movie.
We live in the future, and we can admit that all of the cool things that a Male James Bond can do are things a Female James Bond can do. But at all costs, we need to avoid making this thing feel "woke" of self-aware. If Female Bond is not exactly as toxic and awesome as any of the male ones, we will have failed, and might as well be making another franchise.
