Been a hot minute but this is the piece I made for the Rhythm Doctor Tarot Card collab in 2024! :D (Man, time really flies)
As soon as I had the opportunity to lovingly crush his ego through symbolism I jumped at the chance to participate hahah, I'm still very grateful for the opportunity, it was so fun!!
Here's some notes about the visuals!
First off, the main concept for this artwork is honor, or lack thereof for Edega. He has no honor, no accountability for his actions or the position he's been trusted with. We haven't heard of his achievements or what he has done to better the lives of those working under him.
Some visuals that follow that main theme : In his right hand, he's holding what's supposed to be the rod of Asclepius (the symbol for medicine). Though, the snake that symbolizes Asclepius himself is nowhere to be seen in the room with Edega, thus making the rod just a regular stick. Devoid of meaning or honor.
In his left hand, the golden button. A stolen achievement, honor that does not belong to him
Another point: his card is an intentionally reversed emperor card! It symbolizes an abuse of power, just like how Edega treats Ada and Ian poorly.
The card is also wrong no matter how you flip it, which symbolizes that just turning and flipping the entire card won't "fix" it. For it to appear "right", something fundamental has to be changed.
In the background is monitors which I put as a way to show that he's always watching the hospital. But I also meant it as a way to show that the things he desires are out of his reach, outside his sad little room. It also shows how the others do just fine without his authority.
Ada and Ian are smiling despite the hell he's put them through, while he's sitting there alone in a dark office being miserable probably. There is a scenery with a river and a mountain, a reference to the original Emperor tarot card. There's also an eye from the Aesculapian snake with what looks to be a grin on its face, almost as if mocking him. There's also the intern making a thumbs down gesture if you look at the card as it is, though when flipped, it shows that they are doing just fine without him.
All this to say, the mountains, river, and Aesculapian snake are out of his reach. Those he mistreated don't want to be near him. He has no honor the way he is, being a doctor in title and not acting the part.
Got dragged back to Rhythm Doctor again after 3 years bc I realized they added Act 5 like 7 months ago 😭😭

also getting back into rhythm doctor made me remember I love Ada sm she's so squishable ooOGH💗💓💞💖 Edega can go suck a lemon hes the worst, try not to ignore workplace ethics challenge: failed. Also he's a fucking idiot
oh my god i'm so tired psychotic does not mean violent it does not mean angry or erratic. it refers to a person suffering from psychosis, a loss of touch with reality that includes hallucinations and/or delusions. psychotic people are not inherently violent and y'all need to understand how much stigma you create when you again and again incorrectly use the word psychotic without even thinking about it
“Where do you see yourself in five years” is kind of an odd question for a job interview now that I think about it. Like idk. Having a job? You could give one to me right now.
