Jean la esta pasando bien raro🐶☀
he's talking to me
You should automatically get time off work until the light returns to your eyes and you feel like a real person again
So my PhD advisor did this for me when she could tell I was burnt out. She assigned to do no work at all until I felt alright. It was about 4 weeks. At the end of that time she had me report on what down time fun stuff I’d done.
I was let go last year and I had surgery so I had to stay' put for 2 months, found new work in the 3rd month.
For 5 weeks I woke up anxious and still thinking of the precios job. The fact that I didn't have to report on 5 WhatsApp groups was so strange.
I rediscovered reading on month 2. Talking walks. Writing.
A few weeks ago I made the discovery that I stopped having intrusive thoughts about dying. In one year I have read and watched More things than in the last 10 years.
Say you break your ankle. You could know everything there is to know intellectually about the injury. Even with this vast knowledge, you will still experience physical pain.
Now take this logic and apply it to things like ADHD, autism, clinical depression, and other less visible/divergent disabilities. You cannot think your way out of feeling.
That is to say: you are not a bad, lazy, or selfish person for struggling, even if you know why you are struggling.
Genuinely, thank you so much for this.
A frustrating part of the mainstream vegan “love all animals and protect the environment” mindset is the fact that things need to die in real-life ecology all the time but deer hunting season makes icky feelings and carp culls aren’t cottagecore
The vegan “any animal death ever is morally wrong” mindset doesn’t hold up when:
We don’t have any of the large predators we used to (black bears, mountain lions, or gray wolves) but still retain large deer populations. If nothing is removing animals, they’ll quickly overload the carrying capacity of the environment and have massive losses to starvation and disease that can also pass on to livestock. Human hunters replace the large predators that our landscape can no longer support.
It’s kinder to euthanize an un-releasable hawk rather than try to find it a permanent home with humans. Wildlife rehabs have extremely limited space and resources and are usually run entirely on donated money and volunteer time. Only a few are large and stable enough to care for permanent residents long-term, and those spots are few and far between.
An invasive species poses a danger to threatened native wildlife. I will admit- Australian possums are adorable. But not in New Zealand, where they’re an invasive species that eats the eggs of ground-dwelling birds that previously had no such predators. The landowners I worked with replanting native bush, all native Maori, had no qualms about setting the dogs on them.
I don’t know how to end this except. Sometimes things just gotta die and acting otherwise just isn’t a realistic expectation.
Highlights from the notes over the past 6 months include a lot of angry vegans saying “you’re blowing things out of proportion, no vegans actually think like this!” and a lot of people who work in conservation and education saying “Every day. I have to fight people who think like this.”
As a bonus this post was originally inspired by the vegan who called me racist for saying we should kill invasive species
FitzChivalry "I will not let you die. You will only die over my dead body. There is no version of me that can stand by and let you die. It goes in contradiction to what I am." "Also we're completely platonic, definitely." Farseer
Mr. FitzChivalry "[He seized] my wrist in the same moment that my fingertips brushed his cheek. The impact of that mutual touch blinded me for an instant, just as if I had stepped out of a dim stable into full direct sunlight." "Also we're definitely platonic definitely yessiree" fucking Farseer
"A society that separates its lore masters from its horny posters will have its headcanons written by prudes and its erotic fanfic by fools."
POV you are fitzchivalry farseer and you have just survived an attempted assassination and you’re hobbling out with your barely functioning poisoned body and only walking because youre being physically held up by your pseudo father figure (one of like 5 pseudo parents??? none of whom are capable of or willing to actually raise a bastard) who you just got back on speaking terms with like 10 seconds ago while actively on your death bed. and youre only up and walking at all to try to thwart a secondary assassination happening in a different country that you got magic-psychic-death-dreams of. and it’s already awkward because you two still have this fight simmering about your cool shared dog magic that burrich went to like magic conversion therapy about or some shit.
and then as you’re half coherent trying to execute a plan you float the idea of using some jewelry your pseudo kinda step mother forced you to take by piercing your ear with it with no warning
and burrich is like holy fuck why do you have that.
and you’re like. idk girl things just happen to me idek can we lock in on the assassination
and burrich is like i gave that to your dad. thought he’d be buried with it.
and then you have like approx zero minutes to process ANY of this because you have to stop the assassination of your only family member who gives you complete and actionable information from the bottom of a hot spring your half brother tried to drown you in.
also you’re like ??? 16 ??????
I think in the same way there's a 90/10 rule with horror and comedy (horror works best when it's 90% horror and 10% comedy and vice versa) there's a 90/10 rule for some relationships in fiction that's like. Wholesome and fucked up. A good friendship is at its most compelling when it's also 10% a bit fucked up. Fucked up relationship is at its most compelling when there's at least 10% of something actually sweet and substantive within. Do you get me
the rainbow is a well-known symbol of gay pride that originated in the late 1970s in san francisco, when the gay community promised to never again destroy the earth by flood
oh ok
“Why would you stop in hell?” has changed my brain chemistry
Ideas are cooking for my pride outfit.
Oh boy have I pissed off the transphobes with this one.
the dichotomy between the "immigrant" (someone from the global south who moves to the north) and the "expat" (someone from the global north who moves to the south) makes me feel fucking crazy. a white person who moves to asia is an expat but an asian who moves to the west is an immigrant. & how those terms are politicized and assigned class statuses, like the word "immigrant" tends to imply a blue collar worker (even if that isn't the case) while "expat" implies a white collar worker. the associations with "expat neighbourhoods" in asian countries is very very different from those of "immigrant neighbourhoods" in western nations. also how "immigrants" who dont assimilate are seen as "failing" and bad, lower class, a burden on society, etc. whereas "expats" not assimilating into local culture is expected and viewed as a sign of their higher status. the double standards are so insane
i think theres this idea in the general public that the "best" fanfic gets turned into real books like 50 shades of grey. but the truth is that the best fanfic can never be published as an actual book because its intricately woven into the canon material so its inseparable even if you change the names
wearing a shirt that says “even in an au fanfiction, the characters, relationships, or even the scenarios are recognizable in the best fanfic, and an au without ties to the source material may be a fine story but it’s not a good fanfiction” and booty shorts that say “I HATE FUN”
For clarification:
His name is Parking Lot
His scientific classification is El wiwi
I call him “pipi” or “wiwi”
I hope that makes sense.
For additional clarification:
He is made of dust bunnies and dryer lint
