Happy pride month, if you can call it that this year.

Why the fuck should I be happy that it’s pride month if I can’t even marry who I want to without becoming THEIR FUCKING FINANCIAL PROPERTY!!

Sure LGBTQ+ rights are secured (for now, if that’s guaranteed for the future I heavily doubt it) but a disabled person can’t marry a non disabled person and still have financial autonomy. So why should I celebrate marriage rights I don’t have

And if you marry a disabled person whilst being a disabled person yourself you lose all financial income apart from whatever you gain from work.

If you can’t work for whatever reason, you’re fucked because as soon as you’re on a dual income they’ll take your benefits away from you.

Yknow, the ones that help with BEING DISABLED??

And sure we have our own pride month but it’s not anywhere near the same. You don’t get any acknowledgements of disability pride month, not even capitalism cashes in on it there’s literally nothing. No parades, no public celebration, no twitter post from some big corporation advertising their new disability pride socks or whatever. But hey, we can’t comment on it can we because we’d be spoiling the fun because we don’t belong in this space it seems because all parades are inaccessible and it just seems more and more like we’re being pushed out of this space.

I’m not saying support capitalism I’m just saying it would be nice to have an acknowledgement

You don’t need to invest yourself mentally into activism all the time. You aren’t a bad person if you skip a video. Someone isn’t going to die by your hands. We shouldn’t have to be paying people to send aid to Gaza, the government should. You matter as much as anyone else, we’re all human and we all suffer.

I think AJJ summed it up pretty well in their song People II: Still Peoplin’:

“You don’t have it any better, you don’t have it any worse you’re an irreplaceable human soul with your own understanding of what it means to suffer, and that’s a huge bummer”

On that note, activism doesn’t have to include monetary expenditure. You can make zines, write to your local political person, hell help out in the community, educate people on their rights! Activism was never about how much money you spent on it, punk is a DIY subculture so why are we ranking people on how much money they send to Gaza?

We need to learn to not care as much. Be educated, be empathetic, but don’t consume your life with it. You haven’t killed by your hands. And people shouldn’t tell you you have.

Alr alr I’ll finally do an introduction

Hi, I’m Rotte! I’m a dysfunctional cripple, to put it simply. I’m into art, writing (currently working on a novel/biography based off of my life experiences) and horror media!

Disabilities I have are Post Thrombotic syndrome from a chronic blood clot in my vein, Fibromyalgia, dyspraxia, dyslexia, unidentified heart issues, autism and chronic fatigue. I’m a full time mobility aid user, be that a cane, forearm crutches, or a wheelchair. I name all of my mobility aids, and they’re all usually named like old men or have names from Greek mythology as that’s one of my special interests (My wheelchair is called Cedalion for example). Speaking about Greek mythology, I’m a hellenic polytheist, where I work with gods who aren’t perfect in one way or another, such as Hephaestus.

I also have Schizoaffective, BPD, Anxiety, SAD and ARFID

I’m also a goth and a cripplepunk!

I hate people who are purposefully ignorant not as like a coping mechanism for the shit world we live in but in a “I don’t care because it doesn’t affect me” way. I shouldn’t have to be telling a middle aged man about what’s wrong with trump. I shouldn’t have to explain why therapy can be helpful for people with sleeping issues caused by anxiety

Being disabled and also a drama student is so… strange because you’re trying not to make everything about your disability but you can’t not… yknow?

I’m disabled and that’s part of who I am. It’s not going to magically disappear. So don’t pretend like it’s going to. I’m a cripple and I’m proud of it.

I was going to make a proper introduction but I am fucking sick and tired of the able bodied pretending that I’m either an object or that I don’t exist. Okay at appointments and stuff I’d rather my mom handle it but when I’m out and about talk to ME not my FUCKING CARER. Because I’m in a wheelchair doesn’t mean I’m a baby in a stroller. “Oh can you stop you’re making me uncomfortable” GOOD I HOPE I AM THATS THE POINT

Or yesterday I was at a party right and I was in my wheelchair and this group of what five people stood near me and CONTINUOUSLY BANGED INTO MY CHAIR like I wasn’t there?? I was about to hit them over the head istg

And people who think their strollers take priority. Not just on public transport EVERYWHERE. can’t even go shopping without someone pushing their stroller in front of me. I’m pissed off thoroughly and I wish there was a way to publicly display my anger at all of this.
