whenever you stop and listen to self advocacy by people w cognitive disabilities we're always saying things like "i want to choose what clothes to wear" "i want to date without someone supervising me" "i want to have input into what medication and surgeries i get" and like that's really fucking sad and nobody seems to consider how fucking miserable it is for any class in society to be pleading for these things as a group
You are not a disability advocate if your entire point is "actually, disabled people (or people with x disability) Can do xyz!"
Imagine making disability advocacy/pride about ability.
Yet so many people do.

You are human. Hurting others is an inevitable part of the human condition. It's how you react to the harm you've done that defines you. You can grow, you're worth loving, you're worth knowing, you're worth supporting. Please don't condemn yourself for being imperfect in an age that demands perfection.

this disability pride month i'd like to remind y'all that "visibly disabled" does not imply "mobility aid user" (nor anything else other than "people can see there is something about you that doesn't fit abled hegemony")
OP is autistic and talking about its experiences being autistic (AND multiply disabled). don't fucking touch if you have no solidarity towards autistic people.
Because we've seen a few different posts about people worried about doing stuff that would make them comfortable because it's "childish".
We are over 30+, we present and generally pass as a (very queer) man, and we work at a bank, here are some "childish" things we do that people, including our coworkers, have never had an issue with and sometimes even complimented
Having a tin lunchbox with characters from a Pixar movie on it
We regularly use bandaids with Pokemon, Hello Kitty, and other cartoon characters
Owning a ton of stuffed animals some as tall as we are
Having cute charms on our phone
Playing with toys like Tamagotichi or Slinkies; and games like Nintendogs and Super Princess Peach we liked as kids
Reading middle grade and YA books
Having and using a ton of different fidgets, some of which are sparkly and brightly coloured
Using a colourful backpack instead of a plain bag
We aren't saying that everyone is amazing because unfortunately some people just suck, but the vast majority of people we have met either don't care or will be excited to see someone with something bright and colourful
People who are feeling thirsty often or water isn't quenching your thirst with no determinable medical cause:
Get electrolyte drinks.
"Water is the best for hydration" is not always true. "Electrolytes are only for athletes" is not always true. There are a variety of reasons someone might need a boost of electrolytes, like being on a dehydrating medication (i.e. stimulants for ADHD), having a diet lacking in them, or having a condition like POTS or IST.
"but electrolyte drinks are so gross" I'm very aware of that. I refused to drink Gatorade on a missions trip once to the point where I got very ill. I am a committed non-drinker of sports drinks. One I've found that uses sugar as its sweetener, doesn't taste like salt, and also fits my need to not have red dye is the brand Body Armour. A lot of fancy bottled water will also say something like "enhanced with electrolytes", those work too. There's a huge variety of sport drink options so I recommend just finding some with ingredients that sound good and trying them. Your body needs it and you'll probably feel better too.
