Anatomy of a Comic Sans Shark ~
I’ve never been into Dan and Phil but I did watch Dan Howell’s coming out video, and I’m happy for him.
But here’s the thing. He said some things in that video that are going to piss off a lot of gatekeepers: that he’s most comfortable with queer, that the word he has trauma around is gay, that acephobia is bad, that we should respect microlabels (”mogai labels”). What this means is that there are probably a lot of very angry exclusionists going through all his past activity as we speak to dig up something they can use to discredit him. If he’s had a significant internet presence since 2009, they will find something.
The reason I’m saying this is that you may very well see some extreme and sensationalist accusations about him suddenly coming to light. Before you believe or spread them, you have to find out what the evidence is, what the context was, whether the facts actually support the specific accusations that are being leveled, and whether the op has any motive to fabricate it, exaggerate about what happened, or exclude important details.
We’ve seen this happen to other queer youtubers after they said things that exclusionists didn’t like, and I don’t want to watch it happen again. Be careful.
mod k
Please also consider that even if the things that get spread are true, people have the capacity to learn, grow, and change; that standards and social norms and accepted terminology change too; and that holding something someone said 10 years ago against them when they’ve clearly grown up since then is puritanical bullshit. No one is perfect and no one always was, and if you don’t get that it’s probably because you’re too young to have things you did in your living memory that you’ve come to regret. But I promise you, someday you will. Let people grow and change.
Hey, truckhole (the person who made the fish feds post that you reblogged) is 26, so just be careful and try not to reblog from them in the future. Stay safe!
being over the age of 25 is problematic
this bit from hbomberguy’s new video on climate denial is the funniest thing i’ve ever seen

That is a Suebian knot which was the most popular hairstyle for centuries for pastoral (not hunter gatherer) Germanic warriors fighting the Roman Empire.

How many times will Lady Gaga come out as bi before people stop shoving her back in the closet
Lady Gaga: *writes multiple songs about being attracted to women, along with songs about being attracted to men, one song even being about being with a man while fantasizing about a woman, another is literally titled Born This Way*
Non-bi people: why is she treated like a gay icon when she’s straight
LADY GAGA IS AN OPENLY BISEXUAL WOMAN and has been for years

Some of y'all never actually listened to Americano and it shows
My dad loves minecraft and is currently building, legit, the entire city of Philadelphia just because. Today he sent me his save and while the whole thing would take days to explore (and it’s not even remotely close to be finished), I’ve taken some screenshots of my favorite stuff:
fully-furnished apartment complex I could never afford
Construction
Historical buildings (?) With blocky american flag
Aerial shot of just SOME of the city he built ALONE (obviously with minimal cloning bc like… all the buildings are different)
And my favorite…
THIS is a news channel… he made it NOT by making a custom texture pack, but by creating freehand pixel art on a massive scale at the precise size of a minecraft map, then mapping it, then putting it in an item frame. He told me he’s done stop signs and some street signs using the same method, but I legit couldn’t find them because the city is that massive
Please note the crawl…. for those who can’t make it out, it reads “Trump convicted of tax fraud… world ok now…”
Bonus street layout for parts he hasn’t done yet (this goes on for chunks):
hi this is great. one question. where are the cheesesteak shops
Me: I just sometimes get so stressed that I just want to screech
My Therapist: Then do it.
Me: I’m sorry?
My Therapist: Primal screeching is one way of completing your stress cycle, do it. Be mindful of where you are, I usually do it in my car, but yeah. Go for it.
Me: Ah- Oh.
My Therapist: Holding that kind of thing in is what’s locking you into that stress state. Screeching, running, dancing, that tells your body they the danger has passed and you’ll relax. Since you have a lifetime of that shit locked away, it’ll take a sec but yeah. Screech if you want to.
YO this is legit
My dad has always had me do this, especially when I was little and kept the baby up. We would go into the back yard, point to the river (to keep the ship captains up at night) and scream. I was also told to jump up and down to “get all the scream out”
I did this in college too. There’s nothing more cathartic than climbing the fence of the fishing pier, running to the end of it and screaming into the wind. It’s powerful, it’s therapeutic, it’s feral and wonderful.
I did this with kids too, when they have too much energy. When I worked at a children’s camp and the kids had too much energy when the rain canceled pool time I took them out in the rain, made them jump up and down and scream, and then 15 some nine-year-olds and I would rance across the field screaming in the rain
Go scream, just face towards the river when you do it
Adventurer’s Tip #345: Sometimes you just gotta scream. Just face towards the river when you do.
If you dare come at me about banning straws, I will throw you into the sun cannon. I’m disabled, I’m crippled, I need disposable plastic straws, and all those pricey ridiculous alternatives aren’t working as well. Plastic straws were invented for the disabled.
Way to shit all over a vital access need because you think straws are worse than corporate greed.
We all care about the turtles, the seals, the oceans, obviously. Notice how the easiest thing to yell about was something that would barely affect anything but appealed heavily to emotional discourse.
The disabled community is huge, and it can be joined by anyone. Most of those As Seen On TV products were invented for us. Society still mocks us and ignores us, and often outright harms us in multiple ways.
Communicate better. Listen better. But stop putting us out in the cold because you are inconvenienced by our simplest needs.
Straws aren’t killing the planet, its animals, or people. They’re a microscopic fraction of an iota of a percentage of the problem. You want to do something? Ban plastic fishing nets. Anything else is just a hollow feel-good gesture at the expense of real living disabled people.

i have an environmental degree and i’ve been saying this since this straw ‘debate’ started: its all a tactic by those in power to distract people’s attention from bigger issues such as fishing waste. don’t fall for it. and don’t be a dick to disabled people who need straws to make their lives easier.
Another thing I love about going to pride is that I can dress slutty as I want without feeling self conscious like I’m about to fuckin roll in glitter and wear a shirt wit my tiddies almost out and it’s gonna be fuckin sick

Here is an infographic about sea monkeys (fairy shrimp) and their cousins.
