@crazymeds
yeah google has gone downhill ever since they let ai take over their platform
This is not new. Several years ago, the creators of Phineas and Ferb had issues with Dropbox for the same reason: they got copyright struck on private files of their own show, because they got picked up by Dropbox’s content ID system. MOST cloud providers use tools like content ID to scan uploaded files, EVEN PRIVATE ONES, for copyright infringement or “objectionable” content. Do NOT trust the cloud, under any circumstances, with anything potentially pirated, questionable, or as your sole backup. There’s nothing wrong with using cloud storage for convenience, but it should never be your only copy, and it should be totally avoided with pirated or copyrighted content. This is part of the reason I have harped so hard on not storing the TPK leaks in Google Drive as a long term solution. They will get nuked eventually, they’re in contentID now.

A group of player piano rolls, which in the case of "Old Time Jubilee Cakewalk" is a reproduction of an older roll.
Insight on me: I collect old dictionaries, pre-1955, and the first word I look up when browsing one is "cakewalk". How they describe this action varies greatly and reflects the publisher's biases. Short version: in the 1800s African-Americans at festivals would have a dance-off of who could do the most interesting walk, and the winner would receive a cake. This is where we get the phrasing "it's a cakewalk" or "it's cake" for an easy task. I have a handful of dictionaries which say things like "a grotesque dance done by American negros". See what I mean? The second thing I look up is "eggtower", which is less commonly found in dictionaries and obsolete today, and that's "a dance where no admission is charged."
I also collect old reference books. None of the dictionaries I have published before 1920 have an entry for cakewalk. A Collier's dictionary from 1928 defines it as, "A strutting, eccentric walk or parade, originally by negroes for a cake given as a prize." They also have "simpleton" as a definition for cake and define a short word for raccoon as a racial slur.
Eggtower doesn't show up in any of my large and/or multivolume dictionaries. Not even the OED. I question its existence.

"Daily Show" star and Class Day headliner is fine writing his own emails.
“I’m here to tell you the mission of your generation is to destroy AI,” said [Ronny] Chieng. “I know someone sitting out here right now who is saying, ‘What about the use of AI to pioneer breakthroughs in medicine and physics?’… If you’re using it for that purpose, you’re not the problem. I’m talking about the accumulation of cognitive debt due to excessive use of large language models … This is why you should be scared of AI.” Chieng, who received commerce and law degrees from the University of Melbourne, has released three Netflix specials. His movie credits include “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Kung Fu Panda 4.” He is a correspondent and rotating host for Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” Addressing students, Chieng scoffed at using AI for reading and answering emails. “You know who else can do that? Me,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience. “If you can’t do that, how useless are you?”
It’s a candle.
I agree with the OP's sentiment, but Roosevelt wasn't quite the free-speech hero that this rightly-famous quote suggests. He was defending himself from those who challenged his right to criticize Woodrow Wilson's conduct of World War I. But while TR upheld the right of citizens to criticize the commander-in-chief's handling of a war, he did not recognize an equal right to criticize the war itself. In his opinion, those like Eugene V. Debs who opposed American participation in the conflict were traitors. I don't doubt that Roosevelt would despise Trump and all Trump's people, but let's remember that the old Bull Moose was quite a different kind of Progressive from those we're familiar with today.
