My Mom is in her 70s and has turned from one of the 20% who supported W at the end of his term to a rabid liberal in the last 8 years. She was a lifelong Republican. She states clearly that the party left her by no longer caring about people and only caring about a false theology and money. I didn’t think I could love her more...but she proved that people do change!

I have achieved computer

My computer is back home. All fixed and electric and things. We moved at the end of May into our new home! Yay, first time homeowner. The computer didn’t make the move well. It was still under warranty thank goodness.

Sometimes things in your life that tear you up and hurt you are actually very good for you. I think that is what this year is going to be about. After four years together our third just walked out the door in January, told us we were toxic, told others we were abusive, and wouldn’t talk about what happened. Changed her phone number, changed her email. Left her cat and her car and about 2/3 of her shit. She showed back up again at the end of February and wanted her stuff...not the cat, not the car, just her shit...after not even emailing us for 2 months...let’s just say it was gone. I waited 45 days and then I gave it away, sold it or trashed it. Still don’t know what to do about the car, but the cat is fucking ours now. We are driving and paying the loan on the car but she won’t sign off the title (our names are on it too, but she drove it mainly). Seriously considering letting the bank take it back. As much as all of that hurt. As much as it still does. As strong of a betrayal as it was, is and will be. We are better off. Financially, physically, and emotionally.

For the first time in years we are caught up with the bills. We bought a freaking house (his VA status helped with that a lot). We are beginning to be able to save money (getting rid of the car will help that more). We are more affectionate with each other again. I can cook and bake and move again. I am beginning to see that our relationship before was indeed toxic, just maybe not in the way she meant. I hope, sincerely hope, that she is doing better. That she is getting help. That she has made positive leaps and bounds just as we have. I also sincerely hope never to see her again. Tucson is a small city, it probably won’t happen, but I hope it does.  There were ways to do what she did and not cause the pain and confusion she did on all sides. She chose where she is, I just hope she is as happy there as we are here.

Moved into our new home and having some random thoughts

Some basic thoughts that I have been having of late: 1. Even if vaccines caused autism, the diseases they prevent cause death. Is autism really worse than dying? BTW, vaccines don't cause autism.https://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/concerns/autism.html

2. Even if climate change isn't real, isn't it better to do things that don't harm the environment as much and are sustainable into the future even if they do cost more money in the short term? BTW, climate change is real.https://www.washingtonpost.com/…/scientists-just-published…/

3. Even if hundreds of thousands vote illegally is requiring state issued ID going to change that? After all if they are going to such great lengths to vote illegally, why would they bat an eye at faking ID? FYI, the reason voter ID laws are considered discriminatory is because State issued IDs cost money and thus some people cannot afford them and thus you are requiring people to pay to vote. Universal Healthcare

Reasons we don't have universal health care, some truth: 1. Health care is currently a for profit institution in the United States and while we have privatized government institutions doing the opposite is not what Capitalist societies do. 2. Putting that many people out of work would be hell for any politician, no matter how rapidly they were re-trained and re-hired for organizations that handled the universal health care procedures. (2.5 million in 2015 https://www.statista.com/…/aggregate-number-of-insurance-e…/) 3. There are not enough general practitioners in the country to handle the sudden influx from the ACA/Obamacare, giving everyone insurance would overwhelm the medical industry. http://www.marketwatch.com/…/americas-1-million-doctor-shor… 4. We are not electing public officials who are trying to find solutions to the above three issues. We are re-electing public officials who have maintained the status quo for 30 years. My new home. :-) We move in next Saturday. Going to paint the Master Bedroom/Bathroom and the Office on Thursday and Friday. I will share updates as we update.
