Rod, very rare ___ This rod is a strange device from a far-flung age and can sometimes be found in the lairs of sphinxes that have traveled through time. The rod has two halves with markings along their edge. You can use a bonus action to twist the two halves to align the markings in one the four ways detailed below. 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿. The rod emits a magical shield from it, allowing you to wield it by holding the rod. Treat it as a “+2 shield”. Whenever a creature makes a melee attack against you while you’re holding the shield, that creature takes 2 lightning damage. 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻. The rod emits a magical baton from its end. Treat the baton as a “+2 club”, except it uses a d10 damage die and deals lightning damage instead of bludgeoning. If you hit a creature with the baton and roll a 10 on the damage die, the target can’t make opportunity attacks until the end of your next turn. 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿. The rod emits a magical blast of electricity from its end. Treat the blaster as a “+2 light crossbow”, except it doesn’t have the two-handed or loading properties, creates its own ammunition, and deals lightning damage instead of piercing. If you hit a creature with the blaster and roll an 8 on the damage die, the target can’t make opportunity attacks until the end of your next turn. 𝗢𝗳𝗳. The rod is turned off, preventing it from using any time from its power source until the rod’s halves are switched to a different option. The rod runs on a power source that’s fueled by magic. The rod can be used for up to 5 hours before the power source is empty. Deduct the time you use it in increments of 10 minutes from the power source’s total time. You know how much remaining time the source has while holding the rod. Any creature can use an action to expend a spell slot level of 1st level or higher into the power source, adding to its total remaining time, by touching the rod as the spell slot is expended. The power source regains a number of hours of power equal to the spell slot level that was expended into it. 𝙊𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚. Once per turn when you deal lightning damage to a creature using the rod, you can deduct 2 hours of time from its power source to force that creature to make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is stunned until the end of your next turn.

Even better, the comments to this Twitter post were an absolute FIRESTORM of mostly dudes explaining to her that dials can’t only have 2 positions (not true) and that it wasn’t a very good piece (not true) that she was being disrespectful to her teacher (don’t care) and that it was a sign of her stupidity/rabid feminism/intellectual laziness/misandry/etc. that she couldn’t see any “middle ground.” It became, in its way, a performance piece. I was absolutely mesmerised, even as I wished I could cock-punch people through the internet.

Even if it doesn’t have only 2 positions, the point stands that getting less of/farther away from “raging feminist” requires getting more of/closer to “complicit in my own dehumanization.” You should always be at 0% having to be complicit in your own dehumanization.
