Parents and teachers in Canada will now have an âeducational toolkitâ to help them if they notice a child being groomed by a hate group.

The new resource, launched by the Canadian government in partnership with the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, intends to combat the growing prevalence of hate groups online. Members of those groups, most of whom were raised in the digital age, are becoming more adept at recruiting. For example, the neo-Nazi terror group The Base, as well as other neo-Nazi groups, have used meme websites to recruit young people, usually male teenagers, into their movement.
Authorities are still figuring out ways to effectively combat the problem.
The toolkit can be found online free of charge here and contains modules that run teachers and parents through a variety of subjects related to hate groups, such as ideologies and recruitment techniques. One of the sections presents scenarios and offers ways to handle to them from a variety of perspectives. Elizabeth Simons, the deputy director for the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, said that the examples were all taken from real-world events that had occurred in Canada.
"The scenarios in the toolkit deal with increasing severity of what hate might look like within the school community, said Simons.âYou start out with anonymous hate promotionâso that could be graffiti, that could be a swastika on a desk.
âIt starts from there and then it escalates all the way to overt hate organizing within the school community and outside the school communityâ she added.
The project is one of the latest anti-racism initiatives rolled out by Canadaâs government. In a Wednesday press conference announcing the project, Ahmed Hussen, the minister of housing diversity and inclusion, said that in total the government "has invested $35 million to fund 175 anti-racism projects across the country."

so i was super pissed and concerned about this but i have just discovered that while this is true, it is apparently only true for google chrome users. i just tested this by having ten tabs open in firefox playing ten different youtube videos at the same time and my cpu usage spiked to 25% as the videos were loading and then dropped back down to 10% as they played.

Itâs actually insane how pervasive this fear is and how normalized it is to be this paranoid. My mom has come across other hikers while sheâs walking her dog in the woods and taken out her phone and started recording them to âgive the police clues if they murder herâ (as if a murderer would leave your phone behind???). My dad has repeatedly told me he is going to buy me a gun because as a Single Female Living Alone, I am going to be a victim of something. Not that I am at a statistically higher likelihood than a man to be victimized, I am going to have something bad happen to me because the world is out to get me and everyone is dangerous.
I also think itâs very important to identify the root of the issue. This fear is not new and itâs not a result of true crime or fearmongering on social media. This has always been a part of American Christian culture; women (white women especially) are delicate beautiful flowers who must be protected from the dangerous outside world by a Good Christian Patriarch, be that her husband or father. This is not subtext in conservative Christian spaces, it is very explicit. You are a lamb in a world full of wolves, and you need a shepherd to keep you safe.
And this serves one primary purpose; if women are terrified of everyone and expected to trust only in their patriarch, they are less likely to leave abusive and controlling situations. It has always been about control. It is not a coincidence that this fear is becoming more common and more intense simultaneously to the rise of a fascist regime. Subverting this fear was a massive part of feminism in the 2010s, to tell women that they do not need to be dependent on a man and can be strong and capable and take care of themselves, and it has all but evaporated in recent years. They want women willingly trapped in their homes and submissive to their husbands because theyâre terrified of the world.

i once took an american antihistamine pill just a basic one for seasonal allergies and i had to immediately lay down and while doing so i vividly hallucinated that i was a steerage passenger on the titanic resigned to my death as my cabin filled up rapidly with water. then i blacked out and when i woke up again my allergies were gone for the entire season.
