thanks for understanding!
Will Wood // Laplace’s Angel (Hurt People? Hurt People!)
opinion on dirtbag boyband bears in trees? they're kinda obscure so you might not have heard of them
just listened to them for the first time and honestly? im not getting it
everybody wants to save the world but no one wants to die
I HATE this insistence that we have a moral obligation to worsen our health for the "greater good!!"
"Don't ignore politics-"
STOP. STOP IT. If that's what it takes for you to survive, do it.
There's a reason in the mental hospital they block the news channels! It fucks people up! People find the world so damaged, future so hopeless, and situations so overwhelming they literally kill themselves!
Yes, yes, the activism guilt-tripping is supposed to be for those who simply don't care, but the disabled people who do care are the ones who wind up feeling guilty!
"It's a privilege to be able to ignore politics-"
No, it's a privilege to be able to pay attention to politics without having to be literally hospitalized.
Do. What. It. Takes. To. Survive.
"I need ALL of you to start paying attention-"
Wrong. You need all of us who are ABLE to start paying attention.
Do what it takes to survive.
They are asking you to join in a 70-mile hike up a mountain, where in order to win, as many people as possible must reach the top as quickly as possible! But you are in excruciating pain and have no legs! There is no accessible way up the mountain! In trying to climb the mountain, you will cause yourself irreparable harm and likely death! You feel bad, you're letting everyone down, you can't keep up, you're about to fall, but your friend is saying "hey, I get it, sometimes my legs get super sore, but you have to keep climbing! It's our duty! Keep going! The only way to save everyone is if we do this together!"
They DON'T get it. Even if they say "well I know so-and-so who also has no legs and he just uses his arm-strength and he's at the top already, what if I carry you for a few steps until you have your strength back?" You're not him! He's clearly aquired tools and strengthened muscles you have not, and might never be able to! Only YOU know what you can handle. Do not fall to your death because you feel guilty!
Survive.
Survive.
Sometimes, the biggest act of resistance is surviving.
album of the day: this city isn't big enough
review: 7/10
to preface: i'm largely giving this album a slightly lower review than i do most because it isn't quite the sort of genre that i usually like - but i still think it's a very good album, and here's why:
i liked the way the guitar and general instruments sound!! guitar is such an instrument. i love songs with good guitar.
I don't know what my personal favorite song on the album was but sober intentions reminds me of. like. los campesinos! but if they were way more folksy? this is a good thing btw
lyrically, it was pretty good! a large portion of the lyrics have to do with relationships in some way and as an aroace i didn't *relate* much but still thought it was well-written!!
in particular the lyrics "i will show you how beautiful it is to be alive//and i will love you til you love yourself" really stuck out to me as really good lyricism :D
overall, would recommend the album, especially if you're a fan of folk-punk and similar genres!!
thanks to @lucaslightbulb for the recommendation!
you should check out apes of the state! they’re more on the folk part of folk punk than chase petra but they’re great!!
i’d recommend the album This City Isn’t Big Enough
okay cool!! i'll try listening to them as soon as possible :) will review the album once i listen to it
happy valentines day friday! 💚🤍🩶🖤
reblog if you think aros and aces (or anyone on the aroace spectrum) are queer
trying to prove something to my mother ^^
i present to you a story where you see color when you meet you soulmate. but there is an aromantic character. and the aromantic character sees color only after they've learned to love themselves
Hey students, here’s a pro tip: do not write an email to your prof while you’re seriously sick.
Signed, a person who somehow came up with “dear hello, I am sick and not sure if I’ll be alive to come tomorrow and I’m sorry, best slutantions, [name]”.
I mean, if someone wrote that to me, I’d probably believe they were sick.
“Slutantions” has me crying laughing
i once emailed my professor with a migraine. a mistake.
“I amsick will not to choir because i have a heache. i Hope its very and i am so sorry
love,
blue”
the subject line was “OW”
THE SUBJECT LINE IS THE BEST PART JSJFJSJDJS JUST IMAGINE GETTING AN EMAIL WITH NO CONTEXT OTHER THAN “OW”
As someone who has taught college, please send those emails because 1) We WILL believe that; no one would write that on purpose and 2) we need a laugh sometimes.
On the other side of this, once after getting taken to the ER by ambulance, I got an email from the professor whose class I’d passed out in, and the message had no text, just the subject line “you good?”
Reblogging for the last addition
Claritin makes me weird, but I have allergies so there’s about a month and a half block of time where I’m taking Claritin and am just weird most of the time.
Anyway, my last year of college, I got the flu or something in late March and was also taking Mucinex. I told my professor I couldn’t come to class one day by email except I couldnt think of what to say, so my medicated ass decided to make a Fry meme. I think it said something like “Not sure if I can go to class with a head the size of Texas, bottom text.” I didn’t think until the next day that it probably wasn’t socially-acceptable to tell your philosophy professor you weren’t coming to class via Tumblr style memes. When i got back to class, i found that she’d printed it out and taped it to the classroom bulletin board.
Oh shit you guys i turned on my WinXP laptop that I used to use back then.
IT WAS ON THE DESKTOP. THIS IS WHAT I SENT.
It’s even worse than i remember it
I laugh myself hoarse every time this post comes around, so here it is again.
Once emailed a professor from my hospital bed high on painkillers after a really bad car crash which my heart actually stopped the email “Dead cant class sory”
i was very sick over new years and one day i woke up to find i had emailed my manager in the middle of the night:
she said it was the most beautiful sick email she’s ever gotten
she said it was the
most beautiful sick email
she’s ever gotten
Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
i know, i know, i didn't review an album yesterday
in my defense i only review albums that i've listened to that day and i literally only listened to lullabies for dogs yesterday
mfs be like "are you single or taken" and like technically im single but that implies that im availible, which i most definitely am not so yes im taken. im taken by me. you cant have me.
why are we letting twitter be funnier than us
album of the day: lullabies for dogs
review: 10/10
chase petra's lullabies for dogs is probably in my top three albums ever.
the reason i call myself chase here is literally because of chase petra - that's how much the band's music means to me! :'D
it just released tonight and i listened to it immediately when it came out. it was entirely worth it.
in terms of music/sound, some of its songs have a sort of pop-punk sound (which i of course love!) and some songs have a softer, more acoustic track, but all of them are stunning in their own ways.
but what i really love about it? the lyrical content and general themes.
lullabies for dogs can switch between themes like love, dissociation, religion, and anything else flawlessly.
it's not just an album - it's more. it's a masterpiece about people and society and the essence of being human. it's a collection of sounds that will make you smile and sob and rethink everything you've ever done.
if you only ever listen to one album because of my recommendations, then please. let it be this one.
good night, tumblr! i hope you enjoy this album as much as i did.
forgot to make a post yesterday due to being quite busy but i have one planned for today :)
