I think what gets me about "Society wants trans women dead, and trans men to detransition" is that there's this...potential implication that is very infantilizing to trans men and our struggles.
Many people have pointed out how this idea poses being detransitioned back into being a cis woman as a privilege, or a less cruel fate.
But here's what I think those who believe detrans is better than death are missing, and also what they are implying.
They are missing/ignoring the countless trans men who would fight tooth and nail to remain as trans men. The ones who would refuse to go down without a fight. Who would rather be killed than made into someone's pregnant and barefoot trophy wife. And subsequently the consequences of doing that.
And then the implication is that detransitioning, for trans men, is either "not that bad" or...trans men would just comply. We would be told "You aren't a man, you're a woman, now lay down and get pregnant" and just...accept that? That we are somehow so malleable, so placid, that if enough people told us to stop being men, we just...would?
Like this is just some big game of pretend we're playing, rather than some major part of our identities?
Y'all know what I mean? "Society JUST wants trans men to detransition" as though us trans guys would just huff and sigh begrudgingly as we are institutionalized, forcefully wedded, and so on? That it's some mild inconvenience to be removed of our autonomy, and forced into something we aren't?
That we would just go along with it, while our trans sisters are murdered in the streets??
Like, are you fucking serious?
Again, anyone else getting this vibe from these people who really downplay this shit? "JUST detransition" like "JUST put on your dress so we can go to Church already!!" as though we're a bunch of fussy children who are throwing tantrums over silly things? It's so fucking gross, and while I would hope that's not what these people mean, I think many of us have also seen how eager these people are to infantilize trans men and transmascs.
People be like âdeath before detransitionâ and then act aghast that a lot of trans men would choose death over a fate worse than death
i still haven't forgotten about ray muscat. nor the response from everyone in the wake of his murder. his girlfriend, a trans woman, shot and killed him, her cis brother, and then herself. his family's gofund me never reached it's goal. his murderer's parents hosted a zumbathon to raise money for the trevor project for suicide prevention. in multiple news articles he is not even named, he is simply 'the boyfriend'. most people don't seem to remember his name. and where is name is put, on the trans day or remembrance page, 2022, you'll find right next to him the name of his killer. on the other side of her name, a precious disabled black trans boy, morgan moore, who died from parental neglect. a killer memorialized between them. i have to be honest, the bitterness is growing sharp in my mouth these days. please keep his memory alive, both of them, ray muscat and morgan moore.
ray was known as a kind soul with a glowing smile, he was twenty four. morgan was known for being a great kid, with a natural talent for music and a love of cooking, he was seventeen.
His death marks at least the 13th trans or gender-nonconforming person killed in the U.S. so far this year.

Morgan Moore, who had diabetes and multiple sclerosis, died last year at 17, weighing only 79 pounds.

ugh stop letting a few niche micro bloggers on tumblr make you think transfeminism has an issue with antitransmasculinityâŠwait no donât look at any other social media site either⊠no no donât look at the most popular published transfeminists âŠ. fuck no shit wait donât look at the coiner of transmisogyny âŠ
itâs not a tumblr issue. itâs not a bluesky issue. itâs not a twitter issue. its not an instagram issue. itâs not a tiktok issue. itâs not a fucking reddit issue. it is on every goddamn site i have looked for community. it is on fucking youtube for christâs sake. itâs in the literature staples. itâs in the academia. itâs in the in-person community. story after story and story responded to with âthis isnât a wide spread issue itâs just happening in [insert whichever specific place that person was].â
i repeat for what feels like the hundredth time though i think itâs only the fifth: if you do not think an axis of oppression exists then you will without a doubt be perpetuating it.Â
most transfeminists i have seen over the last three years of observation do not think they can be meaningfully bigoted towards trans men and mascs. they do not think they can meaningfully hurt us. they do not think they need to check their biases. so their biases are going unchecked, and my god is the harm and bigotry abundant.
the problem is fucking everywhere. stop belittling us every time we try to bring it up bc itâs just a [blank] issue. i am going to scream now okay? okay.

There's a post going around from 2014 about how transmisandry doesn't exist and people are now distraught that it's been 11 years and we're still having the same discourse
Except they're upset that we're still trying to prove transmascs and those perceived to be transmascs experience unique forms of oppression rather than being upset that it's been 11 years of people not listening to transmascs about their own experiences.
Someone even said that us switching to transandrophobia was to hide what transmisandry was actually about, rather than at least in part trying to find a term that will satisfy these transphobic assholes
âget a jobâ nope im splashing in da pool

meet me under the pier we are going beast mode
"Transandrophobia doesn't exist outside of online"
Scary Movie 6 literally had a transmasc character who existed purely to be the butt of:
1. No strength jokes
2. No dick jokes
3. "She's my son" jokes
4. Jokes about pronouns
5. Attack helicopter jokes
(Note the word "joke" here is doing SERIOUSLY heavy lifting)
But sure, it's TOTALLY not in mainstream media and is only just guys complaining about nothing online.
(Good to note that there were zero jokes about trans women and transfems in that entire movie)
It feels like every time someone who currently ID's as a cis woman makes ppl mad I see folks questioning if she's a closeted trans man in the comments.
I'm so over it.
Hey so you know how people always talk about transmasc erasure? Coming across that paper on Tumblr discourse on transandrophobia reminded me of something.
When I was doing my criminology degree, I went to several professors with several thesis ideas, and all of them were denied. These were all ideas based on transmasculine crime and victimology stats. Every professor shot down every thesis I had on ideas related to transmasc victims of various crimes.
Their reasoning? There's no need for this. This is useless. Nobody is interested in reading about trans men and transmascs being victims of crimes. They wouldn't even let me do my thesis on estimating more accurate stats on transmasculine victims of homicide. Which is an INCREDIBLY important thing!
So yeah. Next time someone talks about how trans men and transmascs aren't victims as much, remember this. Researchers don't want to research this. They won't allow people who want to do so, to do so. I couldn't get anyone to advise me on these papers.
maybe it would be easier to listen to trans men about our experiences rather than Frankensteining the experiences of cis men and cis women together in your head idk i feel like that might not be the most accurate to real life
The myth that âmasculinity is always privileged over femininityâ has gone so far that people literally tell trans men âno one is stopping you from being a man or masculineâ to trans men/mascs like transphobia doesnât exist.
I keep seeing this shit during pride month and honestly im starting to feel like itâs hopeless. itâs hard to feel empathy from others as a male SA survivor already and now im realizing that no one gives a fuck if we do get harmed edit: sorry i tend to post vents without context, poster uses they/them and is transfem from what i can see on the acc, not a cis woman as some comments are stating
I thought I had blocked them but ironically this was a pretty good example of malgendering for people unfamiliar.
Itâs also reminiscent of a lot of posts surrounding trans men, and responses to trans men who speak up for dedicated space in conversations that concern them (abortion access, birth control, medical bias, etc)
"I'm not a terf. I just believe in Gendered Pissing and that toilets are sacred spaces and Men Should Behave Like Men which means to Man Up and Face Public Aggression when pissing. If I saw him piss where I piss, I'd scream MAN IN THE WOMEN'S RESTROOM!!!!! to alert the toilet police to beat him or worse."
if you don't do anything else today,
Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.
have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.
and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.
black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.
if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
This is Juneteenth.
white people CAN interact with this post. share it, spread it.
various people about trans men: I hate you. because i hate men of course. there is a heavy overarching implication in my behavior that I would not treat you with this level of cruelty and scrutiny if you were a cis woman, but shouldn't you feel so validated right now? shouldn't you feel validated that I wouldn't treat you like shit if you hadn't transitioned? shouldn't you feel validated that I'm treating you like shit explicitly because of your identity?
And then those people about cis men: (absolute silence)
