@crosee1
I think that some viewers of Marty Supreme didn’t understand the significance of Marty Mauser, a Jewish man, winning in Japan against Japans star table tennis player in the aftermath of WW2. If u thought Marty supreme wasn’t deep or interesting, I suggest looking at it through a historical lens & consider what was happening and had happened in the world while this competition was going on
This is a good layer of the movie because it’s absolutely true - and that’s not what was in his head at all.
Marty is so self involved that he couldn’t recognize what this might mean to his community or his friends/family. It’s all about His defeat, His victory, His battle against his opponent. No else’s satisfaction or pain mattered him except his own.
That’s also why Kletzki’s story is so powerful and gets a flashback sequence. To show THAT Jewish man is fighting against the empire of Japan, HE cares about what this means to his community.
Marty though? Marty’s only looking out for himself.
why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable
Broken notes… deactivated account… removed image….
Finally, we have them all.
In addition: OP’s name is just… gone. No “[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]” as is the standard for deactivated blogs.
Just the world “deactivated.” Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.
It’ll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
It wandered across mine. I shall help it travel forward.
