When I asked my dad why he voted for Trump in the election, he said: “Well, who else was I going to vote for?” 

He could have done a write-in. He could have, hypothetically, voted for Hillary. He could have stayed home. But no. He went to the polls to push his agenda forward. 

And he still believes Trump was a better option than Hillary. He is absolutely going to go to the polls and vote for this man again. 

It’s not our job (as liberals, democrats, leftists, socialists, what have we) to pick a candidate that my dad finds appealing. There’s a lot of concern over how we’re gonna find a candidate who can actually beat Trump, but if that’s all we’re focusing on - if our candidate is likable to the people who like Trump - we’re never going to have a winner. 

They don’t care if we like Trump. They don’t even care if they like Trump. They don’t have do - because people like my dad are still going to vote for him. And yeah, that sucks, and it’s a sucky way to run our country, and I don’t want to play that way. 

But I also don’t want Trump to be president.
