It’s the time of year where we’re poor again!

But we have something of an income flow. We are successful at markets and have items for sale on Etsy too

But we are going to have to ask for help from time to time to fill in the gaps. Due to a spring snow storm our market this past weekend was canceled. And we needed to at least make what we paid in fees to afford the next market

We are also running out of pantry staples and diapers. We have a market this weekend and I have two poetry shows one is a guaranteed paycheck and the other could result in prize money. Do we do not need to raise a lot

Currently $250 would get us through the week with fees and food and gas etc

Summer time means a lot of time to fill and we’re running out of supplies for at home therapies. Below is a summer wish list with art supplies and toys I think would enrich the kids summer. You wouldn’t believe how fast we go through slime and play dough. Also a cheap splash pad because my kids adore playing in the water. But I don’t adore the idea of public pools during plague times

Woke up early to get my makeup face on and then went hiking in the bosque while being interviewed for a documentary

This subs the first time I got to hang out with the filmmaker but we are pretty similar people so we worked well together. He was very appreciative about of my work and time. He seems like a cool dude and he worked really hard to get my pronouns correct

When I was talking my woo woo poetry shit I would say something I could feel hit on something and he would get this huge smile and it was very encouraging. I read a poem and he said he got chills from it

Then he said he couldn’t wait to get to work on it and play with the footage. I’ll see him again in a week when he films my show

Okay the day is progressing nicely

Got dishes unloaded and cleaned before I had coffee which I a huge win for me

Haven’t take. The kids out of the house today. That’s okay. They got dressed, hair brushed and fed so another win

We seem to be caught up on laundry

I cooked a lunch and have not gone crazy

Final edits and recordings of my Ricky horror poems is done. Now I can memorize them

Have just enough eggs and breads to make eggy bread which is not what you think it is

Except butter. Don’t have butter. Took $10 in cash just in case I forgot how much butter was

We’re hopeful this month will bring funding to the secret gig. Once it all aligns we will be in a much better position. It’s waiting for us. Not much I can do at this point

Took the kids to a picnic in the park yesterday. Today after therapy we went to the children’s science museum

It’s free because they give memberships to public school families

I mean gas isn’t free but it’s free enough

Going to a meeting tonight at the art space

Busy month ahead

I’ve been feeling so nervous about the Rocky Horror Poetry show. Like did I really just write a solo show

Am I good enough to be the show? Are these poems good enough??? Yeesh. Oh me oh my fr fr. Like imposter syndrome. Especially because it’s being filmed too!! Like what is happening

But I read 2 of the poems at the pride show yesterday. Many people came up to me to tell me they loved my work and to ask about more information about the show next month which is a great sign

Also being placed next to Rocky Horror art at the show was huge for me lol

But then later during the festival my friend came and bought me a drink and we started talking about my show so I read a piece to her and in the middle of it some friends came by and she insisted I start from the top for them. Those reactions were so awesome. Tbf it was at a bar and alcohol was involved but still. I had to pause for laughter several times. One comment was “that was hot but in a way I’m gonna have to think about why later”

Which is a fantastic comment

So I’m feeling less nervous

I keep looking at these poems and my immediate association I have with the titles is: ugh these aren’t good enough

But then I actually read them and I’m like oh wait this is good actually

But I can’t get the positive association to stick

Made a very dark joke in front of a friendish person at the festival but I had a feeling it would go over well with him and also it’s very clever

Trying something different with the otters I make. They look so much like ice cream cones I have to try it out

And I found my white so I can stock up on the Neapolitan cats. But I’ve been having a hard time sourcing the right yarn for the mint and rainbow sherbet so I’ve been less motivated to restock them
