plain text: You've spent the past eight months looking forward to this holiday but, unless you do something soon, you are going to miss your flight because The Driver of the blue car in front driving extremely slowly and ignoring your horn is blocking this one-way street. So you drive up onto the pavement and step on the accelerator; the side of your car briefly scratching against the side of theirs as you pass by. In your car mirror, you see The Driver raising their middle finger out the window to you so you raise yours up in return as you speed into the empty road ahead.

Neither you nor The Driver will recognise each other when you meet at a party in four years' time. And years after that, after you and The Driver have moved in together and gotten married, the child you share will ask how you first met and you will tell them about the party, that you didn't notice each other during it but you both left at the same time and met in the lobby while you waited for the rain to stop. You will both say "It was love at first sight."

And one night, after your child has grown up and left home, you and The Driver will be looking at old photos and you will come across a photo of The Driver before you knew them in a blue car you don't recognise and you will ask about the red scratch on the side and The Driver will tell you about the "total idiot" who overtook them on a one-way street while they were looking down alleyways, searching desperately for their lost dog, a dog whom you briefly knew and loved.

And you will shake your head in disbelief at how inconsiderate some people can be. And lying in bed that night, with The Driver asleep beside you, you will think again about the photo, about the red scratch on their car, and, just then, you'll remember the blue one on yours.
