we all have the homie that's a cautionary tale
had
me when I reblog a post specifically for my mutuals
Everyone in the reblogs
reblog if you're corny and insufferable
I had to share this somewhere. I was working on my original fiction today and this moment just landed so well for a first draft, I couldn't not share.
s2 finale of pjo hitting so hard I'm writing an original post for the first time in YEARS (and my first abt pjo LMAO)
i am SO torn over the decision they made with why thalia was turned into a tree. because it does fit with zeus' character, it does emphasise why thalia would despise the gods, but zeus doing something as big as that just- it feels too...much. too much interference, too on the nose. the gods aren't supposed to mess with their kids' lives to this extent, that's the whole point of the books. (it also creates problems r.e. why zeus doesn't just do it again and take her out of the equation again, but the writers could manage that in s3 if they consider things so that's not necessarily unsolveable.) HOWEVER I really like them adding more conflict between thalia and zeus, especially because for plot reasons none of them find out about jason until the lost hero which is obviously another big source of thalias trauma etc.
i think if i were the writers i would have made it more subtle. maybe a conversation zeus has with thalia a little earlier on, where she has that same kind of denial of becoming his weapon, and instead of blatantly smiting her he sends monsters after the group (obv without directly saying anything but it's clear to us he caused it?). that way a) zeus sees turning her into a tree as a solution to his problem, same as in the show, but b) keeps a small element of sentimentality because he didn't just straight up effectively murder her. alternatively they could delve a little more into it with s3 and maybe reveal he acted in a flash of anger and he had some regrets about doing so, idk, since zeus does have a horrible temper.
i would just like to see maybe a little more complexity on zeus' part I think, rather than making him so blatantly horrible. zeus feels very much like a villain in the show, which - yknow - he really does suck and I am in no way defending him, but the whole reason the heroes end up defending the gods is because they arent wholly evil, they're just shitty parents. they do care to some extent. if they aren't careful they'll make zeus specifically wholly irredeemable, and then why are the protagonists even bothering to defend him yk?
I don't entirely disagree, at first it felt like too much as well, but then I started thinking. The way Zeus talked, I don't think he thought of it as smiting her. It's even worse, he thought of it as mercy.
He could have sent monsters after her, but honestly that's too subtle for Zeus. He's big and flashy. If he wanted her dead he would say so. Instead he tried to talk to her. Tried to convince her.
Which means I genuinely think he thought turning her into a tree was mercy. Because she ended up protecting the two demigods she said she wanted to. But she is also no longer a danger to Olympus. It's as close to a compromise as Zeus gets, and I also think it shows the fundamentally wrong way of thinking the gods have.
A "salad" of radishes on the side would make this dish perfect.
You could add mozzarella pearls to the radish salad. Soften the pepperiness of radishes a little.
Do they sell mozzarella balls that small?
Yeah, they're sold as mozzarella pearls. The idea is that you can throw them into a salad, instead of shredding a normal sized mozzarella ball.
Some stores have mozzarella in a tube shape and it's firmer. You can slice pieces and put them on pizza and they keep the shape better.
Yup, balls and bricks are what I'm familiar with.
But yeah, more spheres for the sphere menu! xD
could have mochi for dessert

You can't just hide this in the notes @theadveragecanadian! xD
I am normally a panster. Every time I've made a plot, I end up losing motivation to write. But I did a bullet point outline of the major beats, and now I'm so excited. The character beats are still missing, but I can already see them developing in the story. Which, the outline works better because it's the second book, but I'm seeing threads I set up in the first book coming full circle, and foreshadowing and subtle suggestions finally be written. I'm so ready to see this story realized!

Ugh, I got a bot response that misunderstood me. I'll reply with clarification to-
Excuse me???
ARE YOU PAYWALLING TECH SUPPORT???
in recent months i've noticed an increase of comments on ao3 that just contain a heart emoji/emoticon. and while of course all comments are very much appreciated and i take this as a second kudos i always struggle with this kind of comment because idk how to respond to it
i'm used to comments that are like "this is good, i like this" and then they are saying something concrete that i can respond to. like, "thank you, i'm glad to hear it". or if the commenter says something about the content of the fic or a specific aspect that they like or that makes them think of something in canon i can reply by sharing some of my thoughts on it
but what does <3 mean? i know it's an expression of appreciation of course but there's not something concrete i can respond to. it feels strange to respond with concrete words (like "thank you") to such an abstract token of appreciation. but i do want to respond to all the comments i get
i'm probably overthinking this but the point is: if you left a comment that just says <3 or ā„ļø, what kind of response would you expect/find appropriate? would it be acceptable to sidestep the issue and not respond at all and just appreciate the comment mentally? someone please tell me what to do
I'm @junknstufffiles, but this doesn't fit on that blog. I started out responding with words, but you're right that felt weird. I RL my friends and I all have unique heart colors, so I started responding with my own heart š to show my appreciation for their comment. Kind of liking their comment. This has worked for me, and I figured I'd share the idea for any other fic authors.

I feel like this song fits them so well. The lyrics match their story, and this was one of the easiest video edits I've made so far, because the scenes fit so well
Two days ago my husband said "...and he was pissed" and I said "don't say that around the kids!" so he corrected himself to "and he was liquid angry" and I've been laughing since
