Recovery
Hi loyal friends! I have now resigned from my "part time" job. I was working "part time" at an average of 50 hours a week and my quality of live had decreased to a point where I felt in my heart that it was time to quit.
I am so excited to work on new plushies, new product lines, and new custom requests. I cant wait!I'm now fulfilling promises to my friends and family to make items for them in which I want nothing more to work on. Now I have the energy and time to do so! I feel so great going forward. Please bear with me in the next few weeks as I reignite my shop and bring it to a new level! I'm so optimistic going forward!I am so excited to work on new plushies, new product lines, and new custom requests. I cant wait!

Why am I moving? I just wanted to make an account where The Quaint Cuddlefish is its own primary blog instead of a secondary one on my personal account. Things feel better this way I think!

Octopus yarn bowl. Unfired. This bowl has the additional feature of a knitting needle/crochet hook holder in the form of a hollow log that the Octopus has in its grip. The Octopus is climbing over the top of the bowl and several of its tentacles have already found themselves exploring the inside of the bowl. This bowl is a custom order and can be remade. All our custom designs are £100GBP ($166.27) + P&P/shipping. Enquiries for this bowl design or an idea of your own to [email protected].

I've opened requests once again but have a waiting list with very limited spots on it. I don't want to take on too much again and get overwhelmed with work, it's far too easy to get burnt out that way. So if you're interested in a friend send me a convo on Etsy!
There is a new policy in place, however. New requests are required to pay 25% of the price estimate. This is due to abandoned requests. When I had that huge list of requests I would get halfway through (or even complete) a plush only for the requester to change their mind or just cease contact. As you can understand that's just not fair to other people who are waiting patiently and not to mention a lot of unnecessary work for myself. The deposit fee is to avoid orphan plushies and make the process better for everyone.

Reopening is Imminent
I'm starting to flesh out ideas about how to operate The Quaint Cuddlefish more effectively. New policies need to be established, a better process for custom items is a must, and I want to re-open with several plushies ready to go. I especially want to work on my own designs, not just Pokemon. Pokemon will always have a special place in my heart (and my shop) but I absolutely want to bring to life the ideas I've been harbouring for so long. I'm also interested in making (more) plushies from Adventure Time.
When my waiting list was huge the shop felt more like a chore than something I enjoyed. That sucked. I have even been considering closing the shop for good. But I do love making crochet stuffs and I don't want to get burnt out. At the same time I don't want to let customers down or have the shop fade away. There's only so much I can plan for however, and since I do have another job that takes a lot of my time already, this can't be my main focus. It will take some time to get everything in place, but I will have the shop functional again in the somewhat near future.

Spyro Plush?!
I've been wanting to make a Spyro the dragon plush for so long. I even got the yarn for it once but it ended up becoming a Gengar. I think before I open the shop officially again I'm going to take a week or two to make him. I wish I could make all the characters like Sparx and the egg thief, the sheep, a gnorc, moneybags, those wizards with the blue hats, oh my goodness.
It's unfortunate that after Insomniac the quality of the games took a hard hit. I hear Skylanders is pretty good but it's not really Spyro anymore is it?
Regardless I still have my original copies that I take out now and then. Still a wonderful adventure even after I've "grown up." Hopefully soon a Spyro plush will be in my lap as I play!
Aren’t these Super Bunnies AMAZING? If they look vaguely familiar, it’s because they were made using my "Spring Bunnies" pattern! Cathrine Johansson originally from Norway and currently living in London, England adapted my pattern to make these heroes including Super Bunny, Spider Bunny, Bat Bunny and Robin Bunny! When I first saw her work on Instagram (@kittycatknit), I squealed with delight and told her that I HAD to feature them on my blog since they were so amazing!
Cathrine has been crocheting for 6-7 years, but she only started making amigurumi earlier this year. She found out about my blog through my feature in the magazine "Simply Crochet" and has already made my Dragon and Teddy Ornaments. Cathrine loves superhero films, and she was watching “The Amazing Spiderman" when she was working on a Spring Bunny. This gave her the inspiration to try and make some little Super Bunnies! I love how creative Cathrine was with the colour changes and felt shapes, and it really shows how you can adapt a pattern to make it your own! Cathrine says that she plans on making the Avengers sometime in the future too!
