this collective dunk lmaooooo GET HER ASS
were all these women born knowing that they were gay or something? feeling fed up w/ men is a common catalyst for women to give women a try... there is no wrong path to lesbianism (or bisexuality)
I think I'm gonna have to invent a new gender or sexuality for myself just to filter out all of these losers.
This is the world capitalists want to return to.
We have no choice but to stan a queen 💪❤️👑
Trying to escape military service like: "Poison Seller, I require your weakest poisons."
it's actually so amazing she helped save the lives of the honorable men who did not wish to fight, while killing the most vile men, that is so fucking based
"We want more complicated female characters!"
Ya'll couldn't even handle HER.
i love how everybody was like ‘wow i sure hope jax turns out to be a complex and morally grey character like we’ve been wanting’ and then the second gooseworx provides a complex and morally grey character with a complex and morally gray backstory everybody starts arguing
All we wanted was a morally gray character with one objectively correct way to judge them. Is that too much to ask 😢
90% of age gaps don’t matter when you’re a grown adult as long as you don’t have a repeated pattern of dating people barely legal. I would date someone 30 years older than me if I liked them who gaf
This entire conversation is somehow 90% people infantilizing themselves and 10% actually people talking about the issue of men who never grow out of dating 18/19 year olds. No it is not a big deal when a 25 year old dates a 35 year old please get a grip
Honestly if you’re in your mid twenties infantilizing yourself on this level maybe you shouldn’t be dating anyone
Chimes with a thought I've had for a while, actually; sleep deprivation might mean I explain this badly, but:
What a red flag actually means: something here is an indicator of a potential problem (but might be fine with a reasonable explanation)
What people have now decided it means: abuse
I've lost count of the number of times I've now had to read variants of "My partner takes all my money and gives me back an allowance because he says it's a man's job to control finances, but he's racking up gambling debts" being met with "Wow this man is a walking red flag" no Becky that is abuse. That is not an indicator. He is an abuser. Call the police. We have lost the concept of a proxy: a thing that indicates a more important thing. And it's relevant to this conversation because I'm actually going to go out on a limb here:
With the obvious exception of paedophilia, age gaps themselves aren't a problem at all - they are a proxy for the actual harmful phenomenon. Hea me out, let me explain
The reason we don't like age gaps is because of the implied power dynamic. If one partner, usually male, is older than other - particularly if the other is still quite young - the risk is that what we're seeing is a worldly wise predator who is exploiting the lack of life experience of a young beautiful woman by mentally abusing her until she's no longer young and pretty enough to satisfy, at which point he'll move on to the next. There have been enough examples of this in human history. It's unfortunately not an uncommon pattern. Genders can also be diverse in this scenario
We can't necessarily see that dynamic from the outside. But we CAN see an inherent element of it: the ages of the people involved. So age becomes a proxy for the abuse. And, hey, it's often correct.
But here's the thing: the ages themselves are not causing harm.
The power dynamic is. The abuse is.
Plenty of age gap relationships are loving, healthy and steadfast. Two people met and genuinely fell in love regardless of the outer packaging, and have a relationship with all the highs and lows and challenges and rewards as any more traditional pairing. This happens all the time
Is the age gap a red flag? Sure! It indicates a potential issue.
Is it inherently abusive? Absolutely fucking not.
OP is right - we need to stop focusing just on the numbers and twisting the facts to fit by infantilising the younger partners, and start focusing on the actual harms. The DiCaprio Pattern of only dating under 24s repeatedly is itself a proxy, too, actually - but a much stronger one than the simple presence of an age gap.
(Even so, in DiCaprio's case, until any of his former partners come forward and describe him as abusive, actually, even that is up in the air - my personal interpretation, given how strong a pattern it is, is that he's a loser who views women as trophies (consciously or not). If any have come forward and I don't know about it, of course, fair enough. But those women were adults capable of making their own decisions, even if they might later come to regret it. And regretting poor decisions is part of life! That's how it goes, particularly with relationships. As long as they weren't abused, there's no biggie. And just as he was looking for young-and-beautiful, there's no way they weren't, on some level, looking for rich-and-famous; it goes both ways.)
Also, another element of this: I think a lot of modern extreme puritan discourse on this is actually ironically down to the age of those taking part. Up until your late 20s, ten years is actually a huge span of time to you, because in your own life you were in a completely different developmental phase ten years ago (teenager), and a completely different phase again ten years before that (child). That skews your sense of what a ten-year gap means. Whereas once you're in your 30s and beyond, ten years is like. Yeah I was an adult ten years ago, and I still am now. That's two adults. Who cares.
(Anyway I am hoping and praying I explained that well enough, and also that Tumblr's famous reading comprehension skills are solid enough to follow)
There's also a big problem in the way we talk about age gaps and how we frame the two partners imo.
When I was around 15-20, I was warned a lot about older men wanting to date me. But nobody told me the real reason why this could be a problem: Some of those guys are targeting younger partners because young people have had less time to collect a large mental library of information on and experiences with abuse, so they'll be less likely to know how to spot and respond to it. That and also the whole some men seeing younger women as being in mint condition and older women as being used and all that yuck.
Instead of telling me that, everyone referred to the long-debunked myth that your brain isn't done developing until you're 25 - and the wild conclusion-jump that this means you have yet to achieve real sentience and aren't capable of making informed decisions. They tell you someone over 25 wanting to date someone under 25 is the same thing as pedophilia, because from their POV you're a child.
And when people present it to you like that, you rightfully dismiss it as condescending bullshit. This makes the actual abusers look even better in contrast, because part of their manipulation is to tell you how intelligent and mature you are.
Which, usually, you objectively are. Abusers are known to especially target people who grew up in emotionally abusive homes. Children in homes like that typically are forced to develop their intelligence fast and grow up prematurely to navigate an environment where the adults refuse to act like adults. So the whole "you're so mature for your age" spiel works because it's true, and because the victim is usually starved of acknowledgement of that fact, most of all from their overgrown-toddler parents. So when everyone else says "no you're actually immature and barely have a conscious mind, so you shouldn't date the one guy who makes you feel seen, because he's lying about you being smart", it exerts an extra push toward the predator. "Should I listen to the people who lie and make me feel like shit or to the person putting words to my actual reality" isn't a difficult choice.
And then you end up only learning what grooming really is through living it, by dating that guy everyone warned you about.
Of course that then also makes you a lot less likely to reach out for help to escape, because you walked right into a trap everyone told you was a trap. So you expect to only be mocked and asked "what did you expect" if you admit it now. Especially since the people who warned you were already talking down to you from the start.
Warning people about age gap dynamics by basically going "no real adult would want to date a dumb child like you unless it's to exploit you" is really more a favor to predatory creeps than to the young people you're warning. We could so easily instead be telling them the truth without invalidating their mental capacity.
"I was way too dumb to make decisions like that when I was 22" and now you're too dumb to help current 22-year-olds avoid the same mistakes, so maybe it's a you thing and not a young people thing 🤷🏾♀️
its actually easy to de-enshittify your digital experience all you need to do is install this browser extension and this browser extension and this browser extension and input this custom script into the advanced box and go into your system settings and reconfigure all these options you didnt know existed and change your entire workflow and switch to this alternative operating system and this alternative web browser and this alternative chat client and this alternative word processor and this alternative- sorry that one turned out to be malware delete that one okay now double check your task manager for unwanted background processes and element block these ads and invest in a good VPN and append all your searches with AI blocking keywords and wait a few years until everything you just did becomes shitty too so you can do it all over again okay kitten. its literally that easy.
I honestly just?? Don't even try anymore. After doing that song and dance however many times I just do whatever now. I WILL stand by installing uBlock origin tho on EVERY browser. ..But that's really about it. Like what am I supposed to do? Switch to Linux and lose access to all programs I need for work plus games unless I "dOwNLoAd ThE riGHt diStRo" like shut UP 😭💀 Nobody wants to do any of that! And you don't HAVE to unless you work in a field where you need something more secure than Windows. It really just is not worth the migraine(s).
God forbid you do a single thing to help your own situation before the Glorious Revolution swoops in to fix everything
You annoy me so if we were playing dnd together I’d cast pretidigitation on you to make your character profusely shit their pants.
New contender for worst children’s hospital design just dropped.

A Masters of Beef Advocacy program teaches ‘scientific sounding’ arguments on cattle’s sustainability in an all-out public relations war
"The US beef industry is creating an army of influencers and citizen activists to help amplify a message that will be key to its future success: that you shouldn’t be too worried about the growing attention around the environmental impacts of its production.
In particular, it would like you not to be especially concerned about how meat consumption needs to be reduced if we are to avoid the most violently disruptive forms of planetary heating (even if all fossil fuel use ended tomorrow).
It definitely does not want you to read scientific papers showing wealthy nations must reduce meat consumption to keep below the average global temperature rise of 2C, a threshold to stop systems collapse, mass extinctions, fatal heat waves, drought and famine, water shortages and flooded cities.
I know about these industry priorities as I am one of more than 21,000 graduates of a free, by-admission-only, online training course created by the US beef industry called the Masters of Beef Advocacy (MBA) program."
"In 2006, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) published Livestock’s Long Shadow, a report that revealed animal agriculture’s significant role in the climate crisis.
By showing that livestock production makes up a significant proportion of global emissions – around 18%, though it would later revise that number downward slightly – as well as contributing to other environmental issues including land degradation and water pollution, the report generated headlines and started conversations, helping to make the toll of meat-overconsumption front-page news.
It was also a moment that terrified the meat industry. According to Jennifer Jacquet, associate professor in the department of environmental studies at New York University, Livestock’s Long Shadow helped to inspire meat multinationals and their allies to launch a counteroffensive, working overtime to defend the environmental reputation of meat, especially beef."
"[...] two high-profile culinary institutions dropped meat to protest livestock’s outsized role in the climate crisis: food media outlet Epicurious decided to stop featuring new recipes with beef, and Manhattan restaurant Eleven Madison Park took meat off its menu entirely. The news made headlines.
And when NCBA noted the trend in its monitoring tool, it sprang into action. NCBA started by defending beef’s sustainability in a slate of paid ad buys – which ran in outlets like the New York Times and the Washington Post – but it didn’t stop there.
In the private video for Masters of Beef Advocacy students, Pooley described how NCBA worked with celebrity chef Lamar Moore to write a piece insisting on a central place for beef on the plate. That story – which ran with the subhead “Why cutting meat from the menu (or magazine) is misguided”, ran in LA Weekly – and was plugged repeatedly on Twitter by NCBA (and other industry accounts) as if it had no connection to the story.
In fact, none of the pieces NCBA privately admits it played a role in – in LA Weekly, Westword and the Denver Post – disclosed the trade group’s participation.
The industry sees these messaging efforts as part of an existential battle for survival. In the training video, NCBA leaders cited data that found 47% of Americans aren’t sure about the sustainability of beef.
That persuadable middle is a top priority for the industry, they said, as whoever reaches them best has the power to sway the balance of public opinion.
The industry must engage in a “defensive strategy”, Pooley told MBA students. Sustainability, she said, “has the potential to become a crisis if we don’t address it early”."
Well this is a new horror.
People apparently also believe they got Andrew Tate using a photo of a pizza box. Have you considered:
"Sir, do you realize you're still using a car, like some kind of caveman?"
My ears perked up. The highway patrol constable was speaking an entirely different series of words than he usually does. My attorney strongly recommends that I not tell you the normal sequence of words, being as they are likely "building evidence of an anti-social pattern of behaviour," but he's not here. You know what? You seem cool, I'll tell you the new words that this mountie told me.
"Hot air balloons are the new thing, man. If you don't get rid of your car and switch to this, you'll be left behind forever."
Not wanting to argue with the mounted policeman too much, I still gently push back. Hot air balloons aren't for me, man. I like to do my own driving. Go where I want.
"Listen, pal. If it doesn't go where you want the first time, you can just take off again and see if it works then. It's so much less work than driving. I barely have a job, now, with all the hot air balloonists overhead." He points to a series of dirigible-adjacent aircraft, repeatedly bumping into each other. At least half of them are the ugliest fucking thing I'd ever seen. None of them seemed to be going anywhere, honestly.
"And the emissions? We can only get more helium from the moon. We shouldn't be just burning it in order to maybe travel to the Kay Bee Toys."
That did it. I had stated enough words of a certain pattern to be billed as an adversary in this officer's mind. An intricate crystalline structure of indisputable scofflaw behaviour had been constructed in the very air between us. I was now an "IA hater" – one who opposes the inevitable dominance of inflatable aircraft. There was nothing to do but to engage in a high speed chase about it.
As I wound the engine to 5K and popped the clutch, I could just barely hear the redshirt squeak: "they're getting better every day, dude! Pretty soon you'll be able to steer!"
Then you meet a fellow balloon hater and get briefly excited before they start going on about how humans being able to fly goes against nature.
apparently there is some twitter tiktok discourse about the football championship in the US bc apparently they're price gouging public transport (which shouldn't be possible but I guess everything is possible) and then european football fans were like "well it's just a mile from the parking lot to the stadium so we are just going to walk"
and locals pointed out that they would have to cross a six lane freeway and then the european fans doubled down that the cars are just going to stop if it's thousands of people crossing the freeway and the americans were like "It's New jersey no they're not going to stop????" (I mostly summarise what I've seen other people summarise)
jokes on you, as a football hater I'm more hyped for european football fanatics vs. americans in cars than watching the actual games
Forget everything this is so beautiful
It's been amusing to watch US Americans freaking out because people from countries that actually make sure to provide free/affordable public transportation for big events like this to prevent this exact scenario from happening won't just accept it and spend precious hours of their vacation sitting in traffic.
My city makes sure the public transport connections to the big stadiums and concert halls run basically nonstop after big events and some countries have also made it free for events like FIFA. That's what most avid soccer fans are used to. From much poorer countries too.
Americans are just way too used to being treated like shit, it's sad. The ability to walk places is the barest of bare minimums an urban environment should provide.
Also, judging by the notes on this post, it also seems like Americans view their fellow countrypeople as wild animals who will just mow over anyone who gets in their way with their big ass cars with no remorse and can't control their impulses.
Meanwhile, the Europeans just saw them as people and figured that they could be trusted to act like any other person would.
Sounds like that might fully just be a you issue 👍

you are white before you are trans and i feel like some of y'all forget that
Braindead take imo I'm not even fully white but the idea that one axis of oppression/ privilege comes before another is just ridiculous. They intersect in more complicated ways than that and reducing them to little stickers that go on top of each other is stupid
Fucking terrified by the notion that next time an election rolls around, some people are gonna be asking AI who they should vote for.
There's a lot of things AI is bad at, possibly even most things, but do you really think the average voter is at all likely to make a worse voting decision by using AI?
you are white before you are trans and i feel like some of y'all forget that
Technically ur American first then ur whatever else u r
