A German friend of mine (usually a sub) was experimenting with domming me over text message while I was at a work sponsored lunch.

She asked me what I was eating and I told her "a hot dog with ketchup and Sauerkraut" and the idea of putting Sauerkraut on a hot dog so threw her for a loop that she completely dropped her persona

for the lovely lovely deafies out there who want to get involved in direct action you absolutely 100% cannot ever bring a hearing aid or cochlear implant with bluetooth to any direct action. bluetooth devices all carry a unique signal that can be used to identify you if it's picked up at a direct action. go with a [more] hearing buddy and communicate in sign language. if you don't mutually know a sign language then come up with gestures. do not risk your freedom because you want to have your hearing aid/cochlear implant at the action. it's not worth it.

Hey all Twitch streamer, Twitch has you opt in by default that your streams will be use to train GenAI. To opt out, you have to go your "Settings" and in the tab "Security and Privacy." At the bottom of the tab, there is the "Training for Generative AI" setting.

My uncle waited until my aunt left to die.

He had cancer, and had reached the point that he was not very lucid, and we all knew it would be very soon.

But my aunt had to leave for the night, and he died while she was driving home. She felt terrible, and guilty, and sad — he had died with no one he knew beside him.

Something all the nurses told her was that some people choose when they die, and he did. Not using drugs or anything, just choosing when to stop fighting.

And he didn't want her to have to see him die.

Thinking about this again as i watch someone's posts about their father's approaching death. Just, you can't feel guilty if someone waits until you've left.

honestly I hate “can you pet the dog?!?” not for any of the common reasons but because it was initially interesting as a proposition of “can you interact with the world in a way that is not within the primary mechanical loop” and that very quickly fell away to being “well now any indie developer making a game has to have a pet the dog button or they’re going to get letters”

One of my dream projects has an NPC with a dog, and if you try to pet it, the owner tells you not to do that. If you try again, it bites you and you take damage. I want to do this entirely because I genuinely believe that this would make me feel way more grounded in the world than any “click button to see cute animation” would ever do, and also it would be really funny to have a game where people lose their runs because they tried to pet a dog they were told not to pet
