Guys: Girls look in the mirror and see everything wrong with them. There is no need to hate on anything - ANYTHING - about a girl's appearance because not only does that kinda make you a horrible person, but chances are, she's thought it about herself and already hates whatever it is. Girls: You KNOW how it is. Don't try to tell me that you've always loved everything about yourself and felt 100% confident in your own skin because that's impossible. Sure, someone might be more technically accomplished than you - you might not be able to colour as nicely or craft a sentence that rings as poetically - but art is only really secondarily about that. It’s firstmost about what you, uniquely, have to express, and how the precise way you express it might be what others need to relate to it - even if it’s less flashy, less “beautiful”, and gets fewer notes.

I promise you this: there are obscure fanfics with only a handful of notes that are the read-and-re-read favourites of someone too anxious to comment. There are drawings done by 14-year-olds in poorly-blended markers that are someone’s favourite because they spoke to something that nothing else did. There are covers of songs where your voice cracks and you cringe every time you hear it but someone thinks the way it cracked just at that moment added beauty to the song. There are angsty three-line poems you wrote at 4am that someone once called “pretentious emo trash” that are loved by someone else going through the same thing as you.

And I guarantee you, there is something unique about your art. Even if you’re “saying something someone else has said”. Even if you’re the thousandth person to take on the subject. Even if you feel like you’re not at all unique. You’re bound to express something, however subtle, that didn’t exist until then.

Art is about connection. And the more you create, the more chance you have of finding other people who experience the world the way you do.

Okay, first thing's first. DO NOT FAKE MENTAL ILLNESSES. I REPEAT. DO NOT FAKE MENTAL ILLNESSES. They are not "cool." They are not a "trend" of some sort. They are serious issues and you further invalidate people who actually HAVE these illnesses. Second. If you TRULY FEEL that you have one of these mental illnesses, PLEASE seek help from a professional and NEVER joke about it. As a child who firsthand witnessed her father having to take antidepressants and anger management pills daily, I know that there is absolutely nothing funny about ANY of these issues. That being said, those who do have these illnesses, I wish you the best of luck and I am so sorry that people continue to write you off as "dramatic" or "attention-seeking" because of people who pretend to have these mental illnesses.

The woman in the bathroom is trans and is scared that if she comes out of the stall the women that walked in will insult or harass her. but when she comes out they compliment her on her dress instead. The add ends with saying “stress tested for women.” It means Secret is including trans women in their definition of women.

I have reblogged this three times now, each one mentioning the fact that Secret not only included a trans woman, but that they /had the other women compliment her dress and treat her with respect/. I will reblog this every time I see it because it’s so important. More companies should involve trans people in their marketing - we do exist. Props to Secret for getting in on this movement. It makes me really happy to see more of the trans community represented in daily television.
