Caroline. 23. I just write for fun. I love kpop, especially BTS and Seventeen (so I’ll probably write for those groups). Inbox and requests are open. //{Masterlist}// /Kpop side blog:Dabble-Girl Kpop Fanart:Dabble-Draws Fic Rec Blog: all-da-feels/
hello! i just found your blog on my long journey of finding some new good jeongguk fics to read and saw that you wanted to upload a fic called "the perfect match" in 2019? i was trying to find a working link for it but unfortunately couldn't find any, so i wanted to ask if you ever did upload the story in its entirety and if so, how can i read it..?
Wow, thanks for the interest in the story. Last year was a pretty busy year for me (between my first year in grad school and getting a bf) so I never managed to actually upload this story. I did have fun plans for this story though, so I’ll be uploading this (and others) this year so please stay tune for that and thanks for your patience. Happy 2020 everyone!!!
Just pure fluff. I just wanted to do something special and winter-y for Christmas when this idea came to me as I was walking home in the cold. I hope you enjoy it!
“Remind me again why I’m out here in the cold?” Jimin complained as he brought his scarf closer to him.
He was all bundled up, probably more than necessary, due to him not able to keep his body heat. Which made sense since he was cold-blooded after all. He did looked absolutely adorable though, like a present all wrapped up.
You gave him a bright smile, “Because you love me, that’s right.”
His gaze softened as he smiled back at you, “Valid point. I’ll even brave this cold, winter night for you.”
“That’s true love.” You teased.
Jimin entwined his hand with yours, seeking some warmth. He was experienced in this now, his sharp nails didn’t accidentally scratch you like it did in the beginning of your relationship.
“I do appreciate you coming with me.” You said, your other hand holding the shopping bags that held the gifts you spent the afternoon finding.
“It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.” Jimin conceded and you nudged him.
“Admit it, you had fun.”
“I did.” He said begrudgingly, “But that’s because I was with you.”
You were about to say something, but then noticed something.
“Jimin!” You exclaimed excitedly and he quickly turned to you.
“What happened?”
“Look!” You felt like a little kid as you breathed out, resulting in your breath looking like smoke, “I’m a dragon, like you!”
Jimin looked at you a moment, his eyes wide, and then burst into one of his huge smiles, “So you are.”
“I mean, it’s not from my nose like yours, but close enough right?”
“Let me see it again.”
You breathed again and giggled, wrapping your arms around his arm, “Now we look like a pair.”
Jimin just bopped your nose and you laughed, “Hey, you aren’t supposed to make a dragon mad!”
He chuckled and brought you close, “Then how can I make it up to you, my lady dragon?”
“How about a kiss?” You said cheekily and blew some of the breath towards his face.
You heard a low growl from him and brought his face really close to you, the smoke coming from his nose indicating that he’s excited.
“Don’t tempt me.”
“Why not?” You breathed out and Jimin quickly pressed his plump lips against yours; you moaned. But too quickly, he pulled away.
“Let’s go home then,” He said cheekily and grabbed your hand again to pull you along, snapping you out of your daze.
“Jimin!” You exclaimed, but he ignored you and just wore a wide grin.
“You’re lucky you’re cute.” You muttered and you saw him blush, still not used to your constant compliments.
“I can’t wait to give you your present.” You sing-songed.
“What is it?”, Jimin said eagerly; he loved presents. He collected trinkets and babbles and was very protective over his collection. You figured it was part of the dragon genes.
“It’s a surprise.” You sing-songed again and he pouted.
“Please, please, please.”
You were weak for that look. That puppy dog look. Even though he wasn’t a dog hybrid, he executed it so well.
“Fine. It’s a snow globe that made me think of you.”
His eyes glistened, “Is it shiny?”
Jimin was extremely partial to shiny things. Again, the dragon genes.
You nod and you can see his tail twitch in excitement.
“I want it, I want it!”
“You have to wait for Christmas, love.” You said gently.
He looked a little disappointed, but then quickly recovered.
“I guess I’ll wait.”, Jimin answered, “I have something even better to keep me busy anyway.”
“What is that?” You asked, curious.
“You’re my treasure that I will protect with my life, y/n.”, Jimin said proudly.
You blushed, still not used to his professions of love (especially if it’s out of the blue like that), “I-I–”
“Aw, you got all red.” Jimin smirked as he poked your cheek and you swat his hand away.
“Stop that.”
“But you’re so cute.” He cooed as he poked your cheek again and you had to fight your smile to not give away that you were amused.
“Cute?”
“My cute dragon.” Jimin said proudly and you playfully breathed out in response, which made him giggle.
“No, you’re my cute dragon.” You poked his cheek, flipping his compliment to him, and he blushed as expected.
“Let’s go.” Jimin simply answered, trying to recover from his embarrassment.
You knew he was anxious to get out of the cold, so you let him lead you to your apartment without any fuss. You quickly turned on his portable heater, which he curled up against, and you had to fight a laugh.
“I swear you’re a cat hybrid, not a dragon.”
Jimin pouted as his tail swished, “I’m nothing like a cat.”
You went up to him and brought him into a hug, “No, you’re a million times better than some cat.”
Jimin leaned against you; you noticed he recovered his warmth and is now the furnace he usually is. He also is back to emitting smoke from his nose and you smiled.
“Let’s stay like this.” He mumbled and you could tell he was very content right now. You couldn’t help but admit that you were content as well.
“I wish I could stay like this forever, with you.” You said.
“Then let’s stay like this forever,” He said quietly against your chest, “ I love you.”
You smiled as you brought him closer to you, “I love you, Jimin.”

———
You were trying to turn a new leaf. You are going to be good.
You sort of had the reputation in your university as the residential heartbreaker, but lately hoeing around isn’t the same anymore—there’s no more excitement for you.
And thus, you were in the middle of the longest dry spell you’ve had since you were a virgin.
Which is probably why you couldn’t resist when one of your old friends, Jennie, asked you to come to a new club with her. Jennie is not from your part of town so that meant fresh meat (which you couldn’t help but be excited about).
Finally, maybe you get some excitement back in your life.
You and Jennie pulled up to the club, not a stitch of clothing or a single lash out of place.
You guys were ready to find your next prey.
Both of you easily went through the bouncer and the place was bouncing with energy, you could almost feel the vibration of the bass of the music.
“I’m so glad we’re doing this.” Jennie said, “It’s been too long since we’ve hung out.”
You smiled at her as you said your drink to the bartender, “The duo is back better than ever.”
“Girl, it hasn’t been the same without you.”
“I know, it’s just that after that fiasco with Jimin…”
Jennie made a face, “Even everyone at my university knew about it.”
“Yeah, I rather not repeat that. Turned me off from the game for a bit.”
“Still, let’s not talk about stuff like that–it’s time to have fun!” Jennie said and you smiled.
“Oh, I can’t wait.”
You winked at the bartender as he gave you your drink and he smiled; Jennie nudged at you.
“Not the bartender again: remember what happened last time?”
You took a sip of your drink, relishing in the familiar burn down your throat.
“Fine, but I reserve the right to go with him if I don’t find someone better in this place…”
That was when you locked eyes with who you instantly knew would be your next target. He was easily the most attractive guy in this room and, by the fawning girls surrounding him, the most sought after. Perfect.
Jennie saw where your line of vision was and laughed, “Y/N, you can’t be serious.”
“Why not? He’s definitely my type.” You smirked, not breaking eye contact when he cocked an eyebrow at you.
“Any hot guy is your type.”
You laughed in response; you couldn’t argue with that.
“But seriously, you really shouldn’t. This is Jungkook’s first semester and he already has a reputation and a cult following. You do not want to get involved with that mess.”
“Oh Jennie, you know hot messes are what turn me on.”
She rolled her eyes as she grabbed you both shots, “I thought you didn’t want another repeat of Jimin”
You made a face, “Can we not mention that pest again? It’s just, these past few months have been boring.Turns out being good sucks–my fingers just don’t do it for me.”
“Have you tried any toys?”
“Yeah, and they’re fine, but they don’t compare to an actual warm, pulsing dick. Plus, you know I love the chase.”
You heard Jennie sigh, “Well, you can’t say I didn’t warn you.”
You both took your shots and you felt the heat travel down your throat. You stole another look at this Jungkook.
The alcohol is not the only one giving me heat, you thought.
Jennie perked up at the change of song, “Oh my god, this is my song. You wanna come?”
“I think I’ll stay here. Something tells me that I’ll join you in the dance floor real soon.” You said, giving Jungkook another sly look.
Jennie followed your line of vision and laughed.
“Of course, well good luck.” Jennie said.
You watch her leave, hips swaying, to the dance floor.
“Wanna dance?”
You heard a beautiful, velvet voice and knew before you turned around who it was. You smiled as you lazily turned around and locked eyes with him. His eyes were full of mischief and his body was delightfully sinful.
You would be a fool if you said no.
Instead of answering him though, you just grabbed his hand and led him to the dance floor. When you looked back, he was wearing a cocky smirk. You knew that for some, his cockiness will turn them off, but not you. You liked a man who knew he was the shit. The victory was much more sweeter when you see him whipped for you.
You felt stares burning holes down your back, but you didn’t pay them no mind. They are just jealous.
He snaked his hands around your waist and you began to sway your hips to the beat. You had to admit he wasn’t a bad dancer; he knew how to move his body.
Those leather pants did nothing to hide his delicious thighs and Jungkook smirked as he saw where you were staring at.
“Like what you see?”
You looked up to him and was met with eyes filled with lust, probably mirroring your own. You licked your lips and his eyes instantly was drawn to the movement. You smirked as you leaned towards his ear. He shuddered as you breathed into his ear.
“You bet, babe.”
His hands gripped your ass tighter, pulling you closer unto him.
“You’re such a fucking tease.”
You let out a breathy laugh as he gave your ass another tight squeeze.
“I’ll give you a tease.” You said lightly as you turned around and moved your ass against his crotch to the sensual beat. You heard him let out a sharp breath and instantly brought his hands to your hips.
“You’re such a dirty girl..” He murmured in your ear and, although you’ve been aroused this whole time, you knew that your panties were definitely soaked from his lust-driven voice.
You’re losing your touch, you thought, you usually have the boys panting after you, not the other way around.
You decided to spice it up a bit more before you were so drunk on lust you begged him to take you in the middle of this dance floor.
At the beat drop, you sunk to the ground and slowly got back up with your ass in the air; you didn’t have to look back to know Jungkook was staring. It didn’t end there, though. As you came up you slowly and deliberately rubbed your ass against his crotch, which you noticed that his bulge felt more pronounced.
Jungkook gasped at the contact and you felt him moving his hips as well to the beat, rubbing his hardening dick against your ass.
“Two can play this game.” He breathed against your neck and you were starting to become light-heated and drunk on this amazing sensation.
He then turned you around and you felt him push your thighs apart with his thigh. You automatically started to grind your core against his hard muscle to the beat and had to stop yourself from outright moaning out loud. His thighs felt as good against your core as you imagined–maybe even better.
It was both a heavenly and frustrating feeling, as it did nothing to satisfy your growing hunger.
“You like that don’t you?” He murmured in your ear, “You like grinding my thigh like a bitch in heat, huh?”
He pressed his thigh in just the right angle and you let out an embarrassing moan–but at this point you didn’t care.
“You’re so wet you’re soaking my pants, you naughty girl.” He murmured and you knew you had to take control of the situation again.
You smirked as you ran your hands against his chest; you can feel his taunt muscles from the flimsy shirt.
“That’s cause you have such delicious thighs, how can I help myself?”, you let yourself linger by his ear and kissed a sensitive spot behind his ear.
You heard his breath hitch and smiled. You then felt his hands in the back of your neck and leaned towards you.
He brought his lips against yours and they were surprisingly soft. You sucked on his bottom lip and he chuckled; you felt the vibrations of his chuckle through your mouth and it wasn’t an unpleasant feeling. He responded by sucking on your lip as well, lightly biting it; you let out a moan as you ran your hands through his silky locks.
You continued to make out while moving to the beat; hands roaming, tongues clashing, and lips sucking. You didn’t know if it was because you were so horny or that Jungkook was such a good kisser, but it felt so good.
Yet, you were also feeling more and more frustrated. You wanted more.
You finally tore yourself away from him, lips tingling. You guys just stared at each other for a few minutes, catching your breath. Jungkook was the first to speak as he leaned toward you again but instead of kissing your lips, he was kissing your neck and sucking your sensitive spot right at your collarbone You couldn’t help but let out a moan.
“Let’s get out of here,” you felt the vibrations against your skin, “I want you so much, I am a few seconds from fucking you right here in this dance floor.”
You were not above fucking right here in the dance floor, but you were at least in the state of mind to know that that probably wasn’t the best thing if you ever wanted to return to this establishment.
So you smile and nod, leading him out of the club.
You knew he was under your spell. And perhaps maybe you were under his as well.

CHAPTER 6: DEATH’S WIFE
“So this is the infamous Death.” Your mom said, studying Namjoon.
Namjoon shifted his weight to his other foot, a bit nervous at your mom’s stare, “Uh, I actually go by Namjoon now...”
“Yes, Y/N, mention that. Still, you are Death, right?”
Namjoon sighed, “Yes, yes I am.”
“Can you prove it? How do I know you are not some psycho that brainwashed my child?”
“Mom!”, you cried.
“It’s a valid point. I trust you, but I’m not sure about him.”
Namjoon gave her a confused look, “Was teleportating in your living room right in front of you not prove enough?”
Your mom narrowed her eyes at him and pursed her lips, “You make a fair point. You may have some powers that I cannot explain.”
Namjoon went up to her, “I’m sorry I cannot show you more, but there’s only so much I can do. No one around here is going to die, so I cannot show you that.”
There was a pause as your mom studied him, then she nodded.
“Fine, I believe you. You seem pretty genuine.”
“Thank you...?” Namjoon asked uncertainly, turning to you for support.
“Yes, so please don’t file another missing person’s report.”
“...it’s a bit too late for that, dearie.” Your mom said, “though I will call the police department up right away and say to forget it. They might never believe me again, seeing as this is the second time this happened...”
You groaned, “Of course.”
“Need I remind you that you were gone for weeks? I mean, I filed it just in case your whole ‘Death’ theory was some baloney you were brainwashed to believe in.”
“....that’s a fair point. But anyway, there’s something else I need to tell you. It’s about the prophecy.”
“Besides the fact that you’re destined to marry him?”
Your face heat up as you remembered that you’re going to marry Namjoon, “Yes, besides that. I...technically died.”
Your mom studied you, “You don’t look dead.”
You looked at Namjoon for support.
“That’s because she’s not dead. But she’s also not technically alive either. She sort of rebirthed to be Life.”
Your mom looked at the two of you.
“...you can’t be serious, right?”
“It’s true, mom.” You replied, “I am Life.”
“But what does that mean exactly?”
You looked at Namjoon, “Well, so far it’s been pretty vague, but apparently it’s very similar to what Namjoon does but instead of giving souls death sentences I’m helping God with the creation process. I don’t know, I’ll be starting my training next week with God so I should get more details on that.”
“Hold up, you’re going to meet God? Like The God?” Your mother said incredulously, “And you’re going to help him with the creation process?”
You rubbed the back of your head sheepishly, “Yeah, I’m pretty nervous about it. But I talking to God and he seems pretty chill. Interesting enough, he has a sense of humor.”
“The trick is getting him to stop making those horrible jokes.” Namjoon muttered and you elbowed him.
“Stop being grumpy.”
“Wait until you work with him; you’ll be singing a different tune soon enough.”
“Maybe that’s why you got stuck with the death process instead of the life process---you don’t appreciate God’s jokes.”
“Thank God for small favors.” Namjoon muttered.
Your mother still seemed like she was trying to adsorb the news, “...my daughter is Life and is working directly under God...what a concept...”
“Relax, mom,” You said, resting your hand on hers, “it’s fine. It’s still me. But with more responsibilities and having an actual purpose.”
“Are you okay with all of this? It is a huge deal to take on.”
“I think I can handle this.” You replied, “I just hope I don’t disappoint God and make him regret his choice.”
Namjoon placed a hand on your thigh reassuringly, “You’ll be amazing, don’t doubt yourself.”
You smiled at him, “Thanks, Namjoon.”
Your mom suddenly perked up, “Oh my god, I forgot that I was baking cookies. Let me take them out real quick before I burn them!”
You saw your mom rush out the room and gave Namjoon’s hand a squeeze. You really appreciated him coming to see your mom.
“I love you”, you murmured; it was the first time you said it while you weren’t in the midst of dying.
Namjoon smiled, “And I love you. Marry me?”
That made your heart skip.
“What are you on about? Aren’t we already getting married?”
“Yes, but I want to make an actual proposal.”
“Wow, an actual proposal,” you teased, “what happened with the kidnapping scheme? It didn’t work out?”
“I found that it was very unpopular with the ladies.” Namjoon answered and you laughed.
“Can’t argue with you on that.”
Namjoon looked a bit embarrassed, “The other so-called proposal doesn’t count. I don’t want to propose to you because of some prophecy, but because I want to.”
“You want to?”
“Of course.” He replied.
“That’s good.”
“So...what’s your answer?”
You saw a hint of worry in his expression and realized that he thinks that you might refuse him.
“Of course, you big oaf!” You said lovingly as you wrapped your arms around his neck, “Yes, a thousand times, yes.”
“Oh my goodness, you guys are so cute!”
You instantly broke apart and you felt your face heat up, “Mom!”
It was your fault though, you forgot where you were.
“How long were you listening?”
“Long enough to know that I better be invited to this wedding.”
“Of course!” You went up to her and grabbed her hands, “Of course you’d be invited, mom.”
“As long as you don’t mind being in the after-world temporarily.”, Namjoon interjected.
Your mom’s eyes widened, “You’re not getting married here?”
“No, our union will be more...permanent than a human’s ceremony.”
Her eyes lit up, “Oh my gosh, how exciting! Seeing the afterlife, what a treat!”
Only your mom will be excited at the notion of visiting the underworld.
“Thanks, mom.”
“What for?”
“For being understanding...I know this is a lot to take in.”
She smiled as she stroked your cheek, “Honey, I just want you to be happy. If this young man makes you happy, who am I to judge?”
You smiled but decided not to comment that Namjoon is definitely not a young man.
“So do you guys want cookies? I managed not to burn them.”
And here we are. The day.
“Y/N! Why you still doing here? You supposed to be getting ready!”
You turned and saw LE stalking towards you, with her hands on her hips.
“But the wedding doesn’t start for another six hours...” You complained as she grabbed your wrist.
LE rolled her eyes and said, “Don’t be ridiculous, c’mon now.”
“But---”
“Y/N, dear, don’t give LE trouble.” Your mother appeared.
“Mom, I--”
“You decided to get married,” your mom said, “Now you have to go through the preparations.”
LE smiled at Namjoon, “Sorry Death, sir, but we have to get this one ready for her wedding. When we return her, you won’t even recognize her.”
You made a face, “Hopefully I won’t change too much.”
Namjoon chuckled, “I still want my bride, LE, not some other woman. Also you can call me Namjoon, remember?”
LE shrugged, “I forget.”
He turned to you and gave you a dimpled smile, “In any case, I’ll see you at the alter.”
You gave him one last smile before you were dragged off. You huffed.
“I have enough kidnappings to last me for my whole existence.” you muttered under your breath.
“Y/N, stop being so dramatic.” your mother admonish you and you pouted.
They’ve all ganged up on me. Why couldn’t Namjoon and I elope instead? It definitely would have been less dramatic.
You arrived at your room and stopped when you saw who was standing in the middle of the room.
“Grandma?” You said tentatively, tears clouding your vision.
“Oh honey.” She brought her arms wide open and you ran into them, hugging her hard.
She is really here.
“Y/N, are you crying?” Gran asked.
“No,” you answered as you forced your eyes to stop getting watery, “something got in my eye, probably an eyelash or something.”
“Uh huh.” Your mom said, obviously not buying your lie.
“You leave the crying to your mom and I, okay?” Gran said, wiping the tears from your face, “this is a happy occasion.”
“But how are you here?” You said in wonder as you stared at her.
“How could I miss my grandchild’s wedding? Especially my favorite grandchild.”
You laughed, “I’m your only grandchild.”
That was a running gag between you guys and you felt it was all surreal, like it was the time on Earth before you met Namjoon.
“Namjoon let me come, he even let me bring your grandfather; you can meet him at the reception, he’s been anxious to meet you.”
“Grandpa is here?”, you asked in wonder; it was a little too much.
“Come, sit, let’s get you ready.” Gran led you to a chair.
“But, I thought you didn’t like Namjoon.”
She started to brush your hair.
“I just didn’t like the thought that you would be part of a sketchy prophecy with someone you didn’t even know. You’ve been through so much and I’m proud with how you handled things.”
You started to feel your eyes get watery again, “Gran...”
“You really have grown so much since I last saw you.” Your grandma kindly said to you and you smiled.
“You haven’t changed a bit.” You replied, then looked at her closer, “In fact, it looks like you’ve gotten younger...”
Your grandma laughed, “Yes, death really becomes me apparently.”
Your mother then grabbed your hands and started to paint your nails, “You’re such a show-off, mother.”
“You’re just jealous, child.” your grandma said with a laugh and you smiled.
Oh how I miss this.
They continued to get you ready and you heard a knock.
“Is everything fine, ladies?”
You turned and saw Jin walk into the room.
“Hey! Don’t you see the sign at the door that says ‘no men allowed’?” LE said, her eyes narrowed.
“I’m just checking in, there’s no need to be feisty.” Jin answered back.
“Feisty? Come over here and I’ll give you feisty.” LE snapped back and you had to put your hand over your mouth to cover the laugh that threatened to come out.
Ever since Jin learned LE was around, he kept trying to be around her--which would spark a lot of arguments between them. Honestly, you were waiting for the day where one of them will shut the other up with a kiss.
Jin turned to you and smiled, “You look even more beautiful than usual, mi’lady.”
LE rolled her eyes, “So gallant.”
Jin smirked, “Only to proper ladies.”
LE narrowed her eyes, “Out! You’re being so annoying!”
She started to shove him out of the door.
Jin laughed, “No need to be so pushy, my dear. I’ll take my leave. Make sure you save a dance for me.” He blew her a kiss which made her expression sour.
“In your dreams.” LE retorted but you could tell she was amused.
“How did you know?” Jin shot back with a grin, “See you later, Y/N.” And he left the room.
You giggled.
“What’s so funny?”, LE said.
“How long are you going to be like that?” You asked LE.
“Like what?”
“You guys obviously like each other! Why don’t you go out?”
“He doesn’t like me, he’s just teasing me.” she protested and you rolled your eyes.
“LE, it’s plain to see he loves you.” your mom said, “and I just met you two.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.” You said, “so you should really do something about it soon. Jin isn’t going to wait forever.”
“Maybe I should have that dance with him.” LE said and you smiled.
“That’ll be a start.”
And LE had a thoughtful look for the rest of the time she helped you get ready.
It was when they helped you into your wedding dress that your mom burst into tears, “So this really is going to happen?”
“Yes, mom.” You said as you grabbed her hands.
“It’s just a lot to take in. This may even be the last time I see you.”
“Don’t be silly, mom.” you answered. “Of course I’ll visit you from time to time. Namjoon can travel between the realms after all.”
“Still, it’s going to be very lonely without you.”
You squeezed her hands, “I’m sorry, mom.”
“Let’s not talk about these kind of things.” Gran interrupted, “This is, after all, a happy day. Don’t ruin the moon with depressing thoughts, Brenda.”
“You’re right mother, this is happy day. It should be full of smiles, not tears.” you mother said as she wiped her tears with a laugh.
Gran put her hand on your mom’s shoulder, “I understand, it’s a lot to take in. I remember in your wedding I cried like a baby.”
Mom laughed, “You’re right, you cried through the whole ceremony.”
“Those were happy tears.” Gran said in her defense and you laughed. You loved your mom and grandma’s relationship--it’s very nice to see them together again.
“Don’t mind them, they’re being too emotional. That dress looks very nice on you.” LE said.
You looked at the mirror and had to agree with LE.
It was a simple, white lace dress that trailed to the floor. Its sleeves hung from your shoulders and the cut flattered your body.
“Wow, it’s amazing, thank you guys.”
“Wait, we forgot something.” Gran said and reached for yet another box.
She opened it and took out an elegant silver circlet with pearls and diamonds woven all around it. Gran placed it on top of your head gently.
“Now you’re ready.”
“Why do I need a circlet?” You asked, curious, as you touched the circlet.
“Death, I mean Namjoon, is the ruler of this kingdom. As you’re marrying him, you’re technically a ruler, Also, there’s the fact that you are Life...”
“If you don’t like it, you don’t have to wear it.” Your mom said.
“No, it’s perfect, very beautiful, “you interrupted, “I just never thought of it this way before, me being a ruler. I don’t even know how to rule, what if I’m horrible at it?”
“You will be great,” Gran said, “I’m sure Namjoon will help you if you run into trouble.’
“Plus, you’re such a kind and strong soul,” your mom added, “you will be amazing.”
“They’re right,” LE said, “God chose you for a reason, you’re not going to be letting anyone down.”
You bit your lip, feeling better at their reassurance.
“Thank you. I really love you guys.” You got teary eyed as you brought them into a hug.
Your grandma noticed your tears and started to brush them away, “Aw, sweetie, we are so proud of you. Don’t doubt yourself.”
You nodded, “Thanks, Gran, I really do love him.”
They were right, this was Namjoon. He be there for you and help you if you get to any trouble.
Your mom handed you a gorgeous bouquet of white lilies and baby breath and kissed your cheek.
“Go get him, tiger.” Gran said
LE was right, Namjoon didn’t take his eyes off you when you entered the room. His eyes were bright, his dimples prominent, and he had the most endearing expression; you couldn’t help but smile brightly right back at him.
When you reached your future husband, he murmured in your ear, “You look breathtaking.”
“You don’t look too shabby yourself”, you teased.
You weren’t wrong, his perfectly tailored suit looked really good on him.
The ceremony started, so you had to stop talking, but that didn’t stop you guys from having a silent conversation with your eyes. You don’t think you heard most of the things the priest said.
“Y/N? Y/N?”
Your eyes snapped up to see that everyone stared at you.
You blushed and turned to the priest, “Yeah?”
He looked at you, laughter in his eyes, and repeated, “Do you, Y/N Vita, take Namjoon Mortem to be your eternally wedded husband?”
Wow, you just blanked out on one of the most important parts of the ceremony, how embarrassing. No wonder your teachers always said you had the shortest attention span.
“Of course.”
“It’s ‘I do’, dear.” Namjoon murmured gently in your ear.
“Oh! Yes, I do.”
Namjoon muttered something in the lines of “that’s what I get for marrying a 21st century girl”.
You elbowed him for that.
The priest thankfully ignored your little exchange and continued, “Do you, Namjoon Mortem, take Y/N Vita to be your eternally wedded wife?”
“I do.” his voice rang loud and clear, it reverberated all around the room.
You were just slightly jealous on how better his “I do” was. Just slightly.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
You turned to each other and your lips slowly met. You instantly forgot that you had an audience and melted into the kiss. Well, that was until you heard the cheers and catcalls in the audience (mostly from Jin and LE), then you remembered.
You quickly stepped away from Namjoon and felt your face heat up. Namjoon was just amused at your embarrassment. You both took each other’s hand and turned around.
Then, you took your first step as a married woman.
A/N
We are finally at the end! Thanks for everyone who’s been with me in every step of the way and has been patient when life was hectic and I didn’t update.
Now I can concentrate on ‘The Magician and I’ and a drabble I’ve been working on.
You are a Seer.
What is a Seer? A Seer is someone whose sixth sense is stronger than most people’s and can see Death.
You did not want to be one, you just want to be normal—yet what happens when Death comes for you?
No, not for you to die—for you to be his bride.

CHAPTER 6: LIFE AND DEATH
NAMJOON’S P.O.V
“Oi! Do you have to be so rough?”, Jin growled at Namjoon.
“Stop being such a cry baby.” Namjoon snapped at him.
Jin glared, “Ever had a sword run through you? It hurts.”
“I can already tell, you don’t have to say it.” Namjoon replied dryly and finished dressing Jin’s wound, “Keep this on until it heals.”
Jin rolled his eyes, “Like I don’t heal fast. This should be out by tomorrow then.” He sat up and winced,
“You okay?”, Namjoon asked awkwardly, not used to being in this kind of situation.
Jin seemed to sense the irony as well because he snickered, “Priceless, having Death ask you if you’re okay.”
Namjoon gave him a withering look, “If you value your existence, you’ll keep your mouth shut.”
“Oh please, you need me. How else can you manage all those billion souls out there?”
Namjoon just scowled as he got up to his feet, “The Grim Reapers do a better job at helping me than you.”
“Take that back!” Jin exclaimed, offended, “Still, but seriously, I would have never thought that Y/N would do...this.”
“Yeah, she’s a wildcat.” Namjoon said and smiled.
“Wait, did you just smiled? Am I sensing love here?” Jin laughed and Namjoon scowled at him again.
“You know I can’t love.”
He snorted, “Only because you don’t want to. Just move on already.” Jin said the last part softly and reached for his shoulder.
Namjoon pushed away, “I already moved on from Hani, I don’t give a damn about her. I just don’t care for Y/N.”
“Death, don’t lie; I’ve seen the way you’ve looked at Y/N. Don’t tell me that’s just platonic.”
“That--”
“And what about when you went absolutely insane when you found out that some rando was making unwanted advances to her? When you came back, you nearly destroyed your office from all your anger.”
Namjoon winced as he remembered his lapse of sanity and control.
“Don’t remind me.” He muttered.
“Death, it’s okay. She’s not Hani, she’s not going to cringe from you and think you’re a monster.”
I should have never told him about Hani, Namjoon thought bitterly.
“Jin, as much as I enjoy talking about my relationship with Y/N to you, I’m afraid that it’s none of your business.”
He scoffed, “Please, I’m the only one who you tell anything to.”
Jin then gave Namjoon a somber look, “But still, it seems very unlike Y/N. She’s feisty, but not bloodthirsty; she looked really scary.”
“Scary? Were you actually afraid of her?” Namjoon asked, surprised.
“Yes, it was strange...it was almost like she was possessed.”
They both looked at each other in realization.
“Lucifer.” They both said.
Namjoon cursed as he went to her room.
“Wait, Death,” Jin struggled to keep up with him, “you probably shouldn’t jump to conclusions.”
Bullshit, you jumped to that conclusion too, Namjoon thought.
“Which is why I’m checking on her now.” He replied.
“God did warn you about Lucifer--”
“Shut up, I didn’t think he’ll get so powerful so quickly.” Namjoon couldn’t help but be upset at himself for not seeing this sooner.
Please let her be okay.
Oh a prayer from you, Namjoon? I feel honored.
Namjoon scowled.
Get out of my head, Old Man.
To his annoyance, He just chuckled.
They reached her room and to Namjoon’s dismay, Y/N was not in her room.
“She’s not here.” Jin stated the obvious and Namjoon felt a growing panic inside of him.
I swear she better not be running around the place, playing the explorer, or I’ll end her life right then and there.
Jin looked around and stopped by her bed.
“Y/N was sleeping, look at her sheets.”
Namjoon went next to him and, sure enough, he was right.
Jin pressed his hands on the covers, “It’s cold, though.”
“That means she’s been away some time now.”
“Do you think...?”
“Probably,” Namjoon answered and felt very anxious.
“Wait, there’s something here.” Jin reached in the sheets and brought out an envelope that was addressed to Namjoon.
Namjoon took it and opened it; he was desperate yet dreaded to read the words.
Hello Death,
As you can see, your precious bride is gone; I took her. The longer you wait, the greater the possibility that I already killed her soul. Yes, soul. As you suspected, I do have the Holy Dagger in my possession so it is imperative that you come as soon as possible if you want a chance to save her. We are at the dungeons of Lucifer’s Castle. Don’t make us wait; you know Lucifer is not patient.
Jisoo
Namjoon cursed, it’s the maid, Jisoo. I had my suspicions about her and this just confirms it.
“What does it say?”, Jin asked and he looked at Namjoon’s thunderous expression, “Oh, that bad.”
He simply handed Jin the letter and he read it.
How could I have been so stupid? I left her alone when I know that she’s in danger; I’m a terrible fiance.
“Well good news is that it’s not technically Lucifer---”
“Bad news is that she is being influenced by Lucifer.” Namjoon spit out bitterly, “And she has the Holy Dagger.”
Jin gave him a curious glance,” You’re worried about Y/N, are you? You actually care for her after all.”
“I’m not worried,” Namjoon lied, “She’s just my bride and my responsibility. Plus, Jisoo does intend to end my existence.”
Jin scoffed, “You may fool anyone else, but I’ve known you for several decades and know that you are panicking right now.”
Namjoon had to admit that he’s been recently concerned about your well-being and may actually care about you...but his kingdom will freeze over before he’d admit that to Jin.
“Jin, for once in your existence just shut your trap.”
“Alright, but you should be going now, if what the letter says is true I do fear for Y/N’s safety.”
“What about you?” Namjoon asked.
“As much as I would love to try and save the day, I can’t save anyone being injured. Plus, this is sort of one thing you have to do by yourself.”
Namjoon had to admit that Jin had a point.
“Farewell then, my friend.”
“Be safe and kick some ass.”
“I will.”
This place always made me uneasy, Namjoon thought as he walked through Lucifer’s Castle. It’s in ruins now, but it just served to make it, if possible, even creepier.
Focus, Namjoon, he told himself, Y/N is in this dump.
He reached the dungeons and assessed the situation.
The maid had Y/N in a tight grip and held the cursed Dagger against her neck. Y/N struggled to get out of her hold without success. They both looked like they just came from a fight and Namjoon felt his blood boil as he saw all the bruises and scratched on Y/N.
How dare she touch my Y/N?
“This is the end. Well, at least for you.” He heard Jisoo said and he knew that he needed to stop this right now.
“Jisoo, please let go of my bride.” Namjoon said with forced politeness, even though all he wanted to do was rip her head open.
Remember, she’s being influenced by Lucifer.
Y/N looked relieved and opened her eyes to look at Namjoon. Jisoo turned to him and gave him an amused smile.
“Ah, so the groom finally shows up; it’s about time.”
“Let. Her Go. Lucifer doesn’t have business with her, only with me.” He was quickly losing his patience.
Jisoo just giggled, “Oh, you don’t know the whole truth about your bride? How embarrassing.” She brought Y/N closer to her and started to stroke her hair; Y/N flinched in disgust, “Lucifer is actually very interested in your little bride.”
That made Namjoon worry even more; if Lucifer is interested in someone that is never a good sign.
“Why would he be interested in her? She is of no importance.” Namjoon said coldly.
No importance for Lucifer, that is.
Y/N looked hurt, but Namjoon didn’t have the time to reassure her.
Jisoo laughed, “So you still don’t know the truth on why you have to find a bride? The real reason?”
“It’s just some dumb prophecy.” Namjoon snapped, tired of Jisoo’s insinuations, “Now let go of Y/N, don’t make me say it again.”
Hopefully we can end this soon.
“Tsk, tsk, ‘just some dumb prophecy’. I know better. He knows better. Y/N isn’t just any human. Well, she is now but won’t be the moment you kill her body. She’ll become a Being like you; she’ll be Life.”
“What?” Namjoon was stunned.
Not human? A Being like me? Life?
Y/N just scoffed, “Don’t start with that again, Jisoo; I have enough of your bullshit.”
Jisoo pulled Y/N’s hair and said, “It’s not bullshit! Lucifer told me so! God wants to bring balance to the universe or some crap like that so he was to unite Life and Death. But we cannot let that happen. Say goodbye to your precious fiancee, Death.”
Namjoon quickly made eye contact with Y/N and tried to convey to her to wait for my signal. She seemed to get the message because she gave him the slightest nod.
He then stepped closer to them, “Jisoo, I know you will regret doing this. We are not your true enemy here, Lucifer is.”
“Don’t step any closer or she will cease to exist.” Jisoo said, but he could see the conflict in her eyes.
“Jisoo, you can overcome this. Lucifer is just using you. Don’t let him tempt you so.”
“He’s not using me!” Jisoo cried out, but he can see she was really conflicted now and was fighting an inner battle with herself, “He understands me. God must pay for what he’s done to us.”
While she was disbalanced, Namjoon looked at Y/N and nodded. She stomped her foot unto Jisoo’s and then quickly stepped to the side to avoid the blade. Namjoon quickly went up to Jisoo, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her against her in an arm lock.
“Let me go!” Jisoo struggled to break free from his hold.
Namjoon was much stronger than her though, so he kept a strong grip as he snatched the Dagger from her. As he raised his hand to stab Jisoo with the Holy Dagger, an annoying voice stopped him.
Namjoon, she’s an innocent.
Innocent, my ass. She tried to destroy Y/N.
You know better than this. You know how hard it is to resist Lucifer’s influence.
You’re a big softie. You do know that, right?
He chuckled, That I am.
Namjoon sighed and waved his hand in front of Jisoo so the she will be unconscious; then he let the Dagger drop from his hand.
“Did you kill her?” Y/N asked and he raised an eyebrow at her. She gave him a look, “I meant her soul; I know she’s dead already.”
“No, I just put her to sleep for now. She wasn’t being herself; Lucifer was basically controlling her. It’ll be unfair to punish her for something she didn’t quite choose.”
Y/N frowned, “Isn’t she at least a bit responsible for her actions?”
“Of course; her sentence has increased tremendously, but I can sense regret in her soul.”
Y/N still looked quite shaken and, without realizing it, Namjoon made his way towards her and scooped her into his arms to comfort her.
“You were brave.” He murmured against her hair.
“You were about to kill her though.”
Namjoon paused, “Yes, you’re right.”
“What made you stop?”, she asked this very softly.
“God.” He answered.
“You mean God speaks to you?
“Of course, why do---”
Y/N suddenly cried out in pain; that was the worst sound Namjoon ever heard in his life. He pulled her away from him and saw her hand was pressed against her neck.
“Y/N, let me see.” He said and gently pulled her hand out of the way to that he can see the damage.
“Namjoon...”, She cried as he saw the tiniest of cuts on the neck.
In that tiniest cut, a trail of blood was running down her neck and the cut was surrounded by black.
Oh no.
In just a few moments, Namjoon saw her lose all color in her face as he laid her down gently unto the ground. Pathetic desperation started to consume him as he realized that she has been cut by that blasted dagger.
“Hang in there, Y/N.” He said and started
You laugh weakly, “You broke your promise.”
“What?”
“You said...I will die a fast and painless death...”
Namjoon quickly snaps his fingers and you felt the pain was gone.
“Is that better?”
You nod your head, too weak to talk.
Namjoon felt water fall from his eyes, but he paid that no mind. He felt the overwhelming need to throw up, even though he cannot get sick.
What if she’s not the One, like the other brides? What if she isn’t really Life? I can’t stand to lose her too. Especially her.
He brought you closer against his chest, stroking your cheek; he was still crying.
“Please....” you heard him murmur, “don’t leave me too....I love you.”
You smiled, despite you dying you felt extremely happy. He loves me.
“I love you.” You mouth, not able to actually make the sound. But Namjoon saw the words you meant to say and he cried harder, his shoulders shaking.
And you died.
Namjoon felt a horrible stabbing pain in his chest, but there was no wound. He felt as if he couldn’t breathe as he stared at your lifeless body. He resignedly went to take your soul, but panicked when he couldn’t find it.
Then, all of sudden, your body had a...glow. Namjoon stared in awe as it grew brighter and swirls and ancient symbols light up throughout your body, almost like veins.
To Namjoon’s relief, you open your eyes; he let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. You slowly brought a hand up and stared at your hand in confusion.
“Um...am I glowing or am I on crack?”
She always has the weirdest expressions.
“...you’re glowing.”
“...am I going to glow forever?” You turned to Namjoon, not sure if you liked the idea of being a walking disco ball.
Your question was answered as the light began to dim until you were normal again. The only evidence of this whole phenomenon was that there were white scars where all the swirls and symbols on your body were.
Is she...?
Yes, Namjoon, Y/N is the one in the prophecy. She is Life.
Namjoon was relived that his fears were assuaged by the Old Man himself. He quickly embraced you, reveling how warm and soft you were.
You then pulled away from him and looked into his eyes, “Namjoon, is what you said true? That you love me?”
Namjoon realized that those words, said out of grief and panic, were true and he smiled.
He pressed his lips against yours as his answer. Your lips were soft and he knew he was instantly addicted to kissing you. You both finally broke away to breathe and Namjoon rested his forehead against yours, not wanting to lose contact with you.
You stared at each other, breaths heavy, and a thought occurred to you.
“So...what does it mean to be Life?”
“Apparently that’s the reason this prophecy was made--to find Life.”
You wondered if there was an error in the system, there is nothing special about you, but you looked at your arms. These scars/tattoos (you didn’t exactly know what they were) proved that you were chosen as Life.
Namjoon sensed that you were doubting yourself and quickly brings you to a tight embrace again.
“You are my other half--never doubt that. God chose you for a reason, and he’s never been wrong.”
“So do I have any powers?” You asked in bubbling excitement.
“I am as clueless as you about all this, so you’ll just have to find out in your own.”
You pouted, “You’re no help.”
He pecked your pouted lips with a smile, “Does that help?”
You brought him down for a nice, proper kiss and smiled as you saw his dazed face as you broke the kiss.

“When will you stop visiting me when I’m bathing?” You say softly as you hear the door click. You don’t even need to look up to know that it’s your husband. Your knees are curled up to your chest and you’d forced the nymphs to turn your tub towards the fireplace, since being cold was one of the things you hated most.
You can hear him take a seat a few feet away from you, standing near the window that overlooks the River Styx. He doesn’t pry, doesn’t try to peep, but just solemnly watches you.
Looking over your bare shoulder, you confirm the fact, his dark gaze boring deep into you, and although your entire body is concealed under the milky water and the edge of the porcelain, you still feel so naked and so exposed under his ravishing gaze.
Cupping the water in your hand, you run it over your shoulder, washing away the day’s worries and stresses, breathing in the aroma of the flower petals and fragrances scattered within your bathwater. The only sounds that fill the huge bathroom are the occasional quiet splashes of water and the crackling of the fireplace. And Yoongi rarely speaks when he does this, just silently watching you bathe, and never making a move to do anything that you don’t ask him to.
You turn in your tub, spinning in the water to face him, the fireplace’s heat warm on the back of your exposed neck. Drawing your knees up to cover your chest, you lift your arms out of the water and rest them there, and you rest your chin on them, just sitting there watching, waiting, mimicking him.
He’s dressed in a beautiful white shirt today, contrary to his usual dark apparel with black cloaks and shirts. It hangs loosely on his figure, and in the dim light of the restroom, you can see his lithe body’s outline through the diaphanous material of the silk. Although it covers him from neck to wrist, and disappears into the hemline of his usual black pants, you still feel a little glee at being able to finally see something of his, to pay him back for all the times he’s been watching you.
But in the silence, you notice how white his skin is, pale and flawless from the areas he chooses to reveal, like his chin and neck, the slope of untainted wrist that disappears into the sleeve of his shirt.
“What do you see?”
His voice startles you, and you draw your eyes back up from his wrist to his eyes, dark and steady, but not angry nor resentful. Just…looking. His voice is low and steady as well, and you wonder, that maybe, if he weren’t cursed to be the god of the Underworld, responsible for the deaths of all mortals and the curses of all gods, he would have made a fine musician or a storyteller with the voice of his.
You are a Seer.
What is a Seer? A Seer is someone whose sixth sense is stronger than most people’s and can see Death.
You did not want to be one, you just want to be normal—yet what happens when Death comes for you?
No, not for you to die—for you to be his bride.

CHAPTER 6: REVELATIONS
“Did he believe you?”, Jisoo asked you when you exited Namjoon’s office.
“I don’t know,” You said honestly, “He seemed to, but he looked unconcerned about the death threat. Maybe that’s just a thing with being ‘death’…”
“So what are we going to do?”
“I don’t know.” You said in frustration, your mind still reeling from all that happened in that office.
“So we’re just going to leave it? So that Death would die?” Jisoo asked.
“I don’t know!”, you cried, very agitated.
Although he doesn’t love me, I would still do anything to protect him.
“I love him.” You said in realization.
Jisoo turned to you, “What?”
“I love Namjoon, I have to save him.”
“How will you do that?” Jisoo asked curiously.
You entered your room and your eyes landed on your swords.
If Jin is alive, he will continue to pursue Namjoon, a voice in your head said; it was right.
You knew then that if you wanted to save Namjoon’s existence, it would have to be you that does something. You picked up the swords. As you stared at the swords in your hands, you turned to Jisoo, a little doubtful.
“Do you think I’m doing the right thing?”. You frowned.
“You saw the noted,” Jisoo answered, “He must be stopped.”
You nodded, Jisoo is right, “Take me to his office.”
You followed Jisoo, taking long, deliberate steps. It felt strange, as if you were in a dream and not quite in control of your actions; like you were following some script. You knocked on Jin’s door.
“Come on, Jin, I know you’re in there!” You called out.
The door opened and Jin stepped out.
“Y/N? What a pleasant surprise, what are you doing here? And why are you carrying swords?”
“I am here to challenge you to a duel.”
He looked puzzled, “How—?”
You tossed one of the swords to him and, while he caught it, Jin gave you a look of surprise.
“Draw.”
“Wha—?”
You lunged your sword at Jin and he moved his sword to block it, which made the swords clash.
“Y/N, are you mad? Please tell me what’s wrong.” Jin said as he blocked another attack.
“You! You are the problem!” You answered with narrowed eyes as you clashed swords again.
“Let’s just talk like civilized people, we don’t have to fight.” Jin said as he ducked to avoid my strike.
“Oh, kidnapping people is very civilized,” you answered sarcastically as your sword nipped his arm, which caused him to bleed a little.
“God dammit woman!” He cursed and rose his sword to block yet another blow, “Where did you learn to fight?”
“A very good friend of mine.” You replied, “I think you know her. I believe her name is…LE.”
“LE? You saw her?”, Jin looked very surprised.
“Yes.” You said, faking a move and going the other way. Jin jumped out of the way in time, only to be scratched yet again on his other arm.
He grunted, “Yup, that’s definitely LE’s doing.”
You continued to fight and Jin managed to give you a few scratches as well, but nothing major.
Jin tried to talk to you again.
“Okay, I know that kidnapping you doesn’t look good on my part—”
“Oh please, there’s no accident in kidnapping me. You explained it quite clearly.” You said, cornering him unto the wall.
“You don’t understand—”
“There’s no need to understand. I understand your desire to have power, but I cannot let you take away Namjoon’s life.”
You twirled your sword around his and Jin’s sword clanked onto the floor. Jin raised his hands to protect himself, like it would do any good against your sword.
“Y/N!”
It was another voice, but you were to concentrated on Jin in front of you to pay it any mind.
LE’s #1 Rule: Don’t take your eyes from the prize.
“Y/N, please—!”
Before you could regret your decision, you thrust the sword into Jin’s chest.”
“Y/N, no!”
Startled, you let go of the sword and turned to see Namjoon running towards you. You looked back at the blood oozing from the wound and Jin’s body slumped on the floor, his eyes unfocused. You stepped back and realized what you had done.
It was like you woke up from a trance, oh crap, what happened to me?
Namjoon rushed past you to Jin and knelt next to his body. He grabbed the sword and pulled it out, more blood seeping out; he ripped some of his shirt and applied pressure unto the wound.
“What have you done, Y/N?” He growled and you gulped, barely able to form words.
“H-he was a spy, and he wanted to k-kill you so—”
“Idiot!” Namjoon hissed, “He was never a spy or was going to kill me.”
“How can you—?”
“Because he was working for me.” Namjoon spat out, “He was my spy so we could find the leader.”
“So he was a double…oh god.” You covered your hand over your mouth in horror and tears began to spill, “I didn’t mean—”
“That’s why I told you to let me handle it! Now his cover is blown and we don’t know who the real leader is.”
You sobbed, “I’m sorry, I—”
Namjoon turned away from you and tended to Jin’s wound, “Just go to your room.”
“But—”
“Go to your room, you did enough damage.” His tone was hard and you knew at that moment that he hated you.
You ran to your room, tears running without restraint down your face.
“How could I be so stupid?” You sobbed into your pillow.
“It’s okay, everyone makes mistakes.” Jisoo was seated next to you as she rubbed your back and tried to comfort you.
“They don’t murder people!” You wailed.
“You didn’t murder anyone, Y/N.”
“How’d you know? Jin looked really bad when I left.”
You pictured the blood oozing from his wound again and it took all your willpower to not throw up.
“Y/N, Jin isn’t human and we aren’t on Earth.”
“Right.” You said and found some comfort that you didn’t—well more like couldn’t—murder him, “But it was the thought, the intention. I was ready to kill Jin, and that’s what scares me.”
What’s wrong with me?, you thought, it’s as if some force compelled me to do so. Am I going crazy?
You winced as you remembered the bloody scene again.
“Sometimes we can’t control our animal instincts.” Jisoo said soothingly.
That was beyond animal instincts though, you thought miserably.
“Mind over matter, Jisoo, mind over matter.” You cried and buried your face into your now soggy pillow.
“We can’t always be perfect.”, Jisoo reminded you and you sighed.
Is it too much to ask to not be a murderer?
“Do you want some hot cocoa? It might help you calm down.”
You looked at her and silently accepted the mug. You took a small sip and felt a little better as the sweet, hot liquid went down your throat.
“Still, it makes you wonder who the real crook is.” Jisoo said and you stared at her; you didn’t consider that, in all your turmoil.
“You’re right. The real traitor is out there, running free. Who knows what he’ll be planning next.”
You took another sip but decided you didn’t want anymore; you gave Jisoo back the mug.
“Well don’t worry, we’ll catch him before he does any more damage.” Jisoo tried to reassure you; she placed the mug on the nightstand next to your bed.
“I hope so.” You said and sank down into your pillow again as hot tears rolled down your face.
“Do you want some privacy?”, Jisoo asked softly.
“Yes, you can leave now. I want to be by myself.” You tried to say without breaking your voice; you think you failed.
Jisoo nodded and left the room, closing the door behind her.
Your crying session seemed to have taken a toll on you because you felt yourself become very tired.
You really are an idiot, Y/N, you thought bitterly, you don’t deserve to live. You royally screwed up.
With those thoughts in your mind, you drifted off into an uneasy sleep.
You groaned as you woke up.
Damn, I hate crying myself to sleep.
You forced yourself to sit up and soon realized that you were not in the comfort of your room. Instead, you sat on the cold stone floor in a damp cell. You felt a wave of de ja vu.
Okay, you thought, trying hard not panic, this doesn’t look good at all. Someone must have kidnapped me when I fell asleep.
But how?
Hello, stupid, it’s all your fault. You hurt Jin, causing Namjoon to be distracted, which gave the kidnapper the opportunity to kidnap you.
You wondered how you didn’t wake up while they kidnapped you; you weren’t such a heavy sleeper.
No sooner did this thought came into your mind did a masked figure emerged from the shadows and walked up to your cell.
“So there she is, the perfect little bride.”
You couldn’t recognize his voice because it was so muffled from the mask; the figure did seem to be a bit on the short side though.
“Who are you?”, you asked.
“Is that important?”, you could hear the contempt in his voice.
“Maybe.”
“Well, too bad, I guess you’ll die of anticipation. It’ll just be easier for me.”
Is this guy serious? Is he attempting to make a joke?
“Wow, that was so funny I forgot to laugh.” You said dryly.
“You are so obnoxious.” The figure said as you heard the jingle of keys.
He opened and closed the door behind him.
Shit, he’s right in front of me. This may be the time to panic. No, wait, just calm down Y/N, You don’t want to give him the satisfaction of seeing you scared.
“What do you want?” You asked as you tried to appear braver than what you felt.
“Hm…let me think…” the masked figure said and took a step closer to you, “You, Y/N, are perfect bait and a wonderful addition to my little plan.”
“Bait?” You felt sick, “You mean you expect Namjoon to come for me?”
Seriously?, you thought, Bait? How did I got reduced to some cliché damsel in distress? Oh right, when I stabbed Jin and let myself get kidnapped. This day just keeps getting better.
“You are his bride, it is his fate to protect and be with you.”
He saw your hurt look and laughed a cruel laugh.
“That is rich! You actually think you mean something more to him than the prophecy? Wake up, girl, if you haven’t noticed by now Death cannot feel any emotions; he doesn’t care about you.”
You felt your eyes get watery as you heard those bitter truths spat at you. Don’t cry, Y/N, don’t cry dammit. You know this already, don’t let this jerk get to you.
You forced yourself to control your breathing and glared at the figure, “You don’t know anything. Frankly, I don’t see how that’s any of your business; you just want to kill him, so why bother with me if he doesn’t care about me?”
“You have such a haughty tone for someone who’s going to die. Who’s the prisoner here?”
You rolled your eyes, “Why are you asking that question if we both know? Do you want me to say it’s you?”
He grabbed your chin and pulled you up, which caused you to gasp in pain.
“Don’t disrespect me.” He murmured in your ear, which caused chills to go down your spine. His nails dug into your skin painfully and you bit your lip to prevent yourself from gasping in pain again.
“I-I thought I was bait. Aren’t you not supposed to hurt me?”
He laughed, “I never said that,” and harshly let go of your chin. You sank back into the floor, coughing.
This guy may just kill me, he seems that crazy, you thought and felt a new wave of fear.
“You are such a weakling.” The figure said and laughed a cruel laugh that echoed off the walls; you flinched at the sound.
He stopped and turned to you, “You disgust me.”
You glared at him as you struggled to sit up, “Not as much as you disgust me.”
Instead of getting mad, he chuckled, “You are so cute, trying to act all tough.”
“I’m glad your amusement is at my expense.” You snapped and he stopped chuckling.
“Another thing I hate about you, you have an answer to everything. You just can’t shut up, can you?”
“Who are you?” You asked him again, quite annoyed that he talked like he knew you or something. Or maybe he does. But who can he be then if not Jin?
“It doesn’t matter to you who I am, you will die anyway.”
“Die?”
He saw that you started to get up again and kicked you so that you lost your balance and fell down again; you grunted in pain as you clutched your stomach.
“Yes, die. You didn’t think you’ll come out this alive? I’ll kill you and when Death comes looking for you I’ll just kill him.”
“Y-you do know that you’ll never get away with this; Namjoon is much more powerful than you could ever hope to be.”
“Ah, but you forget that I have this in my possession.”
He reached inside his cloak and pulled out an ornate dagger.
“Tell me, Y/N, do you know what kind of dagger this is?”
“A dagger that can cause a lot of pain?, You guessed.
The figure kicked you again and you grunted again in pain, “You think you’re so funny. And smart. Of course this causes a lot of pain—but much more pain than a regular dagger.”
You bit back a sarcastic comment because you realized a person who seemed to despise you and Namjoon very much held a deadly weapon not so far away from you.
“Normal daggers kill your body, so your soul still lives and Death faithfully picks it up. This dagger was especially made to kill not only the body, but the soul.”
Your eyes widened, “Is that the--?”
“Yes, the Holy Dagger. You’ll never get to see Death ever again. How do you like being separated from the one you love?”
“How do you know I love Namjoon?”, you asked suspiciously.
“Despite it being so obvious…” The figure took his mask off. No…more like the figure took her mask off.
“You bitch.”, you growled; you couldn’t believe what you saw.
“Surprise.” Jisoo smiled sweetly at you, but her eyes showed the opposite.
Hate.
Jisoo smiled at you wickedly as she regarded the dagger she held, “Surprised?”
You know, I was right; no one suspects the maid.
“I can’t say that I’m not, but I’ve learned that nobody is what they seem.”
You remembered Jin and cringed.
Jisoo narrowed her eyes at you, “You got that right.” She continued to play with the dagger, as if it was a plastic spork instead of a deadly weapon.
“Why?” you asked, still unable to comprehend her motive.
That caused Jisoo to pause, “You can blame it all on God.”
“What?”
God? Seriously? You knew some people were angry at God, but this is taking it to another level. Yup, defiantly asylum-worthy.
“Let me explain, I lied when I said I never met my love after I died, I did and was so happy. I thought we could be together, I thought we could love each other.
“Turns out, he learned to move on with his life after I died. He even became very interested in religion and ‘found himself’ with God; he became a goddamn priest.
“When I was reunited with him, he wasn’t as enthusiastic as me. He said ‘I’m sorry, Jisoo, my only love right now is with God. I am devoted only to him’. I got so angry and screamed at him, cursed at him, tried to make him feel guilt. He just gave me a polite smile, patted me on the shoulder like some child, and said he’d pray for me.”
She looked like she was about to cry and held the dagger so tightly, her knuckles were white.
“I became angry at God. He stole my one true love, my true love! We were meant to be together. Forever.”
Jisoo glared up at the ceiling, like if God was up there.
“How did that turn into killing Namjoon and me?”, you asked, quite puzzled, and she glared at you.
“Let me finish! For the longest time I just moped about and became really whiny. Then I heard a voice that said that I should take revenge on God and the way to do so will be to eliminate Death, this special being he created.”
“You’re crazy—”
You then paused as you remembered what happened earlier with Jin. A voice like Jisoo described convinced you to kill Jin. Now you know it didn’t excuse your actions, since it was still your choice, but something or someone did put the seed into your mind; you may be hot-blooded but you’re no murderer.
“I know what you mean, I think I heard that voice too.” You said softly and looked around you as if the suspicious voice can hear you now.
Are we both crazy or is there some external force manipulating us?
Jisoo didn’t hear you, she was too busy muttering to herself angrily; it was almost as if she was arguing with herself. You saw her become increasingly agitated and knew if you didn’t do something quickly, you would be worst than dead. You couldn’t wait around until Namjoon realizes you were gone.
Jisoo was still having her internal battle, so you racked your brains on what you can do.
Well my hands and feet are bound, so it’ll be hard to defend myself or escape. I should make it my priority to try and get out of them. You then remembered the nail filer you had put in your pocket that morning so you could file your nails instead of biting them (a horrible habit you are trying to break).
You quickly thanked your luck (or God? That’d be funny) and subtly put your hand in your pocket, which was tougher than your expected.
“I still don’t see how this solves anything.” You said, trying to distract Jisoo and she looked you, as if she just remembered you were there.
“I will stop both life and death.” Jisoo said and giggled a little.
Okay, you thought, I think she officially entered the crazy train. You finally felt the rugged surface and thanked your lucky stars as you started to slowly pull it out of your pocket.
“Really? I see how you’re stopping death, but how exactly are you stopping life?” You asked, mostly to buy time.
You successfully took the filer from your pocket and started scraping it against the rope, hoping it would break. You weren’t much for prayers, but you quickly did one. Please God, let this work.
Jisoo stepped closer to you and brought her dagger up, “I don’t need to tell you. But look at that, your time is up. Good bye, Y/N, Forever.”
“No, wait!” You cried, desperate to stall her, “If Namjoon doesn’t love me, why would he come? That kind of defeats the purpose of using me as bait.”
Jisoo laughed, “You think the only reason I brought you here was for bait? No, there’s something else.”
She stepped closer and you quickly asked, “What do you mean?”
Almost done…just a little bit more…
“Once you marry Death, you won’t be human anymore.”
“What?” This caused you to stop your actions.
Y/N! Focus!
You went back to cutting ropes.
“Oh, Death didn’t mention that little fact? Guess he doesn’t know then. You’ll end up some weird Being like him. You’ll be…Life.”
What? Life? What does that even mean?
“I don’t believe you, you’re lying.”
Jisoo walked up to you and lifted your chin so you looked at her; she gave you a smile.
“Honey, the delusional one is you. Now I think I’m done talking and ready to get to the good part. Time to disappear, Y/N.”

Summary
You and Jungkook met through a dating website that matches people based on their search history. You guys hit it off, brought together by your fascination with murder. You are a crime novelist, so you do extensive research on murder and how to make the perfect crime. You assume Jungkook has the same interests, as you’ve never met anyone with your passion for crime.
It isn’t until you marry that you find something…off about your perfect match.
I realized I forgot to add the sneak peak—lmao! Here you go guys:
“That’s it, Y/N, you need to get laid.”
You rolled your eyes as you continued to type on your laptop, “Very funny, Namjoon.”
“No, I’m serious. All you do is live, breathe, and eat murder—it’s kind of scary actually.”
“The research is essential for my writing.” You protested, “You know I’m a very detail-oriented writer.”
“Yes, as your editor I know and appreciate it. But as your friend…I am concerned.”
“Well don’t be, I’m fine.” You retorted, pushing your glasses up, “okay what do you think about this: ‘…she sliced his throat open and the blood gush out; she watched as the life drained from his body and smirked. Her work here is finished...’”
“This is ridiculous, I can’t believe you’re writing that right now.” Namjoon sighed as he sat down across from you.
“…you’re right, slicing the neck will have the blood splatter the walls not gush out, how ridiculous of me…”
“Y/N, I’m being serious!”
You finally looked up at Namjoon, “listen Namjoon, I appreciate the concern and all, but it doesn’t matter who I meet. Every guy I’ve met thinks I’m a weirdo who’s obsessed about murder—“
“Which you are.” Namjoon reminded you.
“Yes, but if I had to choose between watching serial killer documentaries on Netflix or having half-ass sex with some boring guy, I choose the documentaries.”
“Y/N, I’m just saying that all this…it can’t be healthy. I worry about you.”
You smiled at Namjoon; he’s been your friend since your undergrad school days and he’s always held a soft spot for you. He was one of the few people who put up with your weird habits and antisocial ways. Since your parents died, he became your self-appointed older brother. You knew his concern came from a place of love, but it can sometimes be overbearing.
“I know Namjoon but the guys out there…they suck. No offense to you or Jin, of course.”
Jin was Namjoon’s long-standing boyfriend, who was a lieutenant at the police department and a very good source of information regarding research for your books. It was fun to talk crime and police politics with Jin.
“You’re not wrong, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any guys better than Jin and I but…” His eyes had a scheming gleam in them that you didn’t particularly like, “…have you ever considered trying an app?”

CHAPTER 6: WHAT IS NORMAL?
“That’s Y/N.”
“I heard her boyfriend is in the mafia.”
You tried to ignore the whispers around you, but they followed you everywhere you go.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t mess with her.”
“I heard her English teacher ended up having to take four weeks off!”
“They say her boyfriend will kill people just for talking to her.”
“Yeah, you shouldn’t go near, she’s like a mob boss’ wife.”
You clenched your fingers, damn that bastard. You wondered, not for the first time, how rotten your luck is. You noticed Hyelin and let out a sigh of relief as you went up to her.
“Hey Hyelin! So about the homework in—”
She gave you such a cold look that you couldn’t help but pause.
“…is everything okay…?”
Hyelin gave you a glare as she held up her phone.
“You have one of these, right?”
You looked at her in confusion, “Yes…?”
“Then why did you never text or call? Are we not friends?” She demanded and you instantly felt a wave of guilt for not communicating to her the past few days.
“I am sorry, I just had…a lot on my mind. Things had been kind of hectic.”
“Yeah, I bet. Also, thanks for telling me about your boyfriend.” Hyelin said sarcastically.
“Wait, he’s not—”
“Whatever. Why don’t you hang out with him now? Since we aren’t close friends or anything.”
“Listen, I’m sorry—” You begged.
“I don’t want to hear it, Y/N.” Hyelin said as she walked away without a single glance back.
You wanted to chase after her, but your class was about to start and you figured that she just needs space. She’ll come around. Hopefully.
The whispers continued as you entered the classroom and you saw that your usual seat was occupied. You tried to find an empty seat, but whenever you will approach, the people sitting around the chair would look at you in fear. You were about to give up when you heard a voice.
“Hey, there’s a seat next to me. Do you want to sit here?”
You walked over to the back of the classroom where a very pretty girl was sitting. She never really talked much to anyone else, so you were surprised that she spoke to you, much less offer you a seat next to you.
“Thanks.” You said as you took the seat next to her.
“Yeah, I understand your pain,” She said, her head resting on her hand, “Your life is ruined by a weird boyfriend, right? It’s the same with me…”
You scoffed, “He isn’t my boyfriend!”
“Yeah, same.” The girl said, “I rejected him over and over, but he’s like a leech. He just hangs around, wrecking my peaceful life like some evil beast…”
As she said this she grew even angrier and you wondered what this guy did to get her so worked up.
“What’s your name? I didn’t quite catch it.”
“Heeyeon.” She answered, “But that bastard keeps getting it wrong and calls me Hani. I honestly can’t take it anymore! All I want is a peaceful, comfortable life in a normal world with normal people…” Heeyeon looked at you expectantly, “You understand, right? What it feels like when normal people like us go out with weirdos? They destroy our normal, peaceful lives. The only way to achieve an ordinary life is to avoid them completely.”
You thought about Suga and how your life was never the same ever since you met him. You had to admit that Heeyeon had a point. She kept complaining about her boyfriend all throughout class though.
“Leaving them is the only way.” Heeyeon said again as you left the class.
“Hm…yeah.”
“I have to leave him.”
You wondered why she was so adamant and if she was trying to convince you or herself.
“Hey Hani!”
You both turned to see a handsome blonde man walking up to you guys, smoking a cigarette.
Heeyeon looked at him in horror, “You, you…! Are you crazy? What are you doing, appearing at this hour? Do you want to die?”
“It’s fine.” The man replied, not affected by her upset tone, “It rained today so the sun went down earlier. Hey…were you worried about me?”
You figured that this was the guy Heeyeon was talking about.
“Me? Worrying about you? Yeah right! Also, stop smoking in here!”
“Why not?” He huffed, “Half the humans here seem to be hiding in the bathroom smoking. I’ve been starving for so long, you’ve got to at least give me this.”
“Just stop it!” She took the cigarette and quickly snuffed it out.
“Hey, I just started that one—”
“I don’t care!”
You studied his strange appearance. He had such pale, clear skin and blonde hair. He also had such a unique accent…you figured it out.
“Oh, so your boyfriend is a foreigner?”
Heeyeon looked at the guy nervously as the man studied you.
“Who’s she?”
“A classmate.”
“So…fresh!” He spoke in English and you were a bit confused. Maybe I misheard him.
“H-Hi…how are you?” You said in English, hoping you weren’t embarrassing yourself.
“Your English accent is good,” He switched back to Korean, “My name is Vernon, I’m from New York. By the way, what is your blood type?”
“What?” You thought that was such a random question, “Uh, I’m a blood type O…”
Vernon perked up, “Type O? Wow, that’s my fave—ow!”
Heeyeon pulled him by the ear, “Stop that right now, you weirdo!”
“I’m only being friendly!”
“Friendly, my ass.” She hissed as she started to drag him away.
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry.” Vernon muttered and you watched her drag him out. You wondered if she thinks that Vernon is weird because he’s from New York.
Well Suga is much weirder, you thought. You then were reminded that Suga basically committed social suicide for you and fumed. But I can’t really say it’s Suga’s fault, you sighed, he wasn’t in his right mind thanks to that stupid potion…
You started to walk and heard the whispers again.
“It’s her, right?”
“Did you hear about her boyfriend? He’s a big mafia guy, really scary.”
You bit your lip to keep from snapping, yeah, go ahead and make fun of me. I’ll just ignore them. It’ll probably settle down in a few days...
“Maybe she went crazy after her family died in that plane accident.”
“It’s such a shame her brother died, he was so hot.”
“Yeah, she definitely went psycho.”
That comment made you snap and you just saw red.
I’ll show you psycho.
You walked out of the school and were surprised to find Suga leaning against a wall, holding an umbrella under his arm.
Why is he here? His appearance will only make the rumors worst.
“Suga, what are you doing here at this time?”
Suga just stared at you, “What happened to your face?”
You internally winced as you realized that you probably didn’t look to good from your scuffle, “It doesn’t concern you. Answer my question: why did you come to my school?”
“It’s raining.” He offered and you looked up at the clear sky and lifted up your eyebrows, “It was raining, but it’s stopped now.”
There was an awkward pause and you thought about what Heeyeon said earlier. They destroy our normal, peaceful lives. You looked around at the whispering students around you.
“You know, Suga, I have something to say…”
“I do too.” Suga answered.
“Really? Well I guess I’ll go first.” You took a deep breath, “That idea about us being friends? Let’s…”
“…drop it.” You both said at the same time and you were shocked he had the same feelings as you.
Wait, why does he not want to be friends anymore? I had a valid reason, but what’s his excuse?
“Oh, well that works out then.” You said with a forceful smile, “It’s nice for us to be thinking the same thing for once, right?”
But why?, you were screaming in your head.
“…yes.” Suga simply said and you couldn’t read his face at all, much to your frustration.
What did I ever do to you? How can you do this to me?
“Now,” he continued, “our contract is still valid, so until I grant your wish I hope you will continue to be my assistant. But you don’t need to come every day, once a week is fine.”
“Oh really?” You smiled wider, “Uh, okay. How nice.”
What is this feeling? Why do I feel cheated? Wait, I shouldn’t feel cheated, we were thinking the same thing, but…why do I feel like I’ve been dumped?
You studied Suga and wondered how he could be totally calm and look so normal. You tried to mirror his expression, to show him you were totally okay with this.
“Don’t feel cheated, you were faster.”
“What?”
“You spoke a second faster,” Suga said, “If anybody was dumped, you could say it was me. So you don’t have to feel cheated about anything.”
“You were reading my thoughts?” You exclaimed, feeling a bit violated.
“Those weren’t thoughts, they were more like screams. I didn’t listen to them on purpose.”
You still couldn’t help but think that it was unfair that he could listen to all your thoughts and you can’t even read his face.
“It might rain again, so take the umbrella.” Suga said, offering you an umbrella.
You took the umbrella and stared at it. Your emotions were in turmoil and you didn’t know what to do with it. What is up with him? One minute he doesn’t want to be friends and the next he’s offering me an umbrella? What does he want from me?
In a fit of anger, you threw the umbrella on the ground and stomped on it really hard; you glared at Suga’s shocked face.
I really, really hate you! Try reading my mind again, stupid!
And with a huff, you stalked away; you didn’t want to see his stupid face anymore.
With every step, your anger grew. You knew you have an impulsive personality, so you’d probably regret ending your friendship with Suga tomorrow and try to patch things up with him…but if Suga says it, he means it forever. You wondered how long he had been thinking about this.
This made your heart sank; all those memories…were they nothing for him? Was he looking for a way out this whole time?
You walked into a park and laid out on the grass. Fine, just leave me, you thought, now I don’t have family or friends. I’m alone in this world.
I’m not going to cry, you thought, I refuse to cry over him.
Instead, you decided to sing a jingle that popped into your head and hoped it would cheer you up. Yeah, I should live alone and be firm and strong, I don’t need Suga, you thought.
“Even if I’m anguished and sad I won’t cry! You should endure, endure, and endure again, so don’t cry. Let’s run through the green prairies smiling, let’s sing watching the blue skies. My name is—”
“Shut up!” You heard a voice snap and you felt someone throw a cigarette bud at you, “That song is dead wrong! If you are anguished, why shouldn’t you cry? Should you run around laughing like a crazy person?” You sat up and recognized that it was Vernon.
He went up to you, anger in his eyes, “Listen, if we’re sad, let’s not run laughing through any green prairies! Wouldn’t that make us more ridiculous? Humans are really stupid…” He sank to the ground next to you and started to sob against your shoulder; you didn’t know what to do.
“Um…Vernon…are you okay…?”
“Obviously not!” He sobbed, “Hani dumped me! Again! All because I’m a vampire!”
“Ah,” You finally understand what Heeyeon was talking about, “I guess that makes sense. I thought it was weird that she was so upset about her boyfriend being a foreigner.”
Vernon looked at you in shock, “What--? What’s with that response? Are you not afraid? Don’t you think I’m crazy and I should prove it to you? I just said I was a vampire! I feed on human blood—isn’t that surprising?”
You shrugged,” Well, not really. I’ve seen plenty of weirder things than a vampire.”
Honestly, not a lot of things can surprise you at this point. You’ve met a flower-princess-alien who healed people by being eaten, someone who died from literally being too happy, a magician who was stalked by the sun, a person from a parallel universe that loses their memory every day, a horde of people ready to kill because of their obsessive love, not to mention Suga…
Vernon frowned, “I wish Hani was more like you. She says she won’t date anyone but a normal human…which is very frustrating because in her former life she said she wanted someone special! Damn it, which one should I believe?” He said the last bit to himself as he lit another cigarette.
“Former life…?”
He didn’t seem to hear you, “Seriously, whose fault was it that I became like this? I became like this because of her.” Vernon then frowned, “Then again, it’s really that bastard magician’s fault.”
“Magician?” You couldn’t help but think of Suga.
“Yeah, a wicked wish-granting magician named Suga. I hear he’s living here in Korea. He’s the reason I’m like this.”
Ah, so Suga is behind this, you thought, why am I not surprised?
“What happened?”
Even for Suga, damning someone to become a vampire seemed a bit extreme.
Vernon scowled, “It all started 150 years ago in New York when I fell in love with Hani and proposed to her. She rejected me in the worst way and broke my heart. She said that I was very ordinary and it made me very boring and unattractive. She needed someone special and told me I could never be that. I heard about this mysterious magician called Suga who can grant your wishes so I went to him to ask him to make me special. He kept brushing me off, saying he wasn’t in the mood to grant wishes at that time. I persisted, begged him. He eventually got tired of my constant whining and told me to go to a specific street that night at midnight. Said I’ll find what I want there. I should have noticed when I saw his sinister smile. I went to the street at midnight, like he said, It was in the bad part of town, it was dark and very scary.”
Vernon frowned, obviously it was a painful memory for him.
“That’s when you were bitten?” You asked,” And then you became a vampire?”
“Yeah, that place was a vampire den. That bastard magician sent me there on purpose!”
“But you didn’t clearly define ‘special’!” You said, “That means it was your fault too..”
Wait, why am I defending that jerk? No, however you look at it, this was Suga’s fault.
“It was totally obvious what I meant!” Vernon cried, “Who wants to be an evil vampire? I was naïve, I used to faint at the sight of blood! Now I only crave blood. Hani then died young of an unknown disease. With this body I couldn’t even go to her funeral. I only was able to visit her grave at night and I even had trouble doing that. I then gave up and fell into evil ways. Unexpectedly, being evil suited me. After many years, I saw Hani’s reincarnation standing among a boatload of tourists and followed her to Korea. Still…in her former life, she hated me because I was too normal. But now, she hates me because I’m too unusual.”
Vernon ran his hand through his hair in frustration, “Just what does she want me to do? I can’t live like this anymore. So…I’m going to get revenge on the evil magician who made me this way. Just you wait—I’m going to make him pay for everything he did to me…”
You couldn’t stand Vernon bad-mouthing Suga anymore, “Stop it! Suga isn’t an evil magician. Even if it seems like he did something wrong, it was probably just a mistake. Suga has never done anything bad, not even once. Of course, he is a bit arrogant. He’s irritating and he’s always acts uncaring…but the things he takes from his clients are mostly useless things. He risked his life to grant a wish and he didn’t take things people truly need. He might seem mean, but he isn’t a bad person. I don’t know why he did that to you, but I’m sure he didn’t have evil intentions.”
As you started talking, you couldn’t bring yourself to stop. All the words kept gushing out and you knew it was a mistake to try to break your friendship with Suga. You were just upset in the moment, but you really did care for Suga.
“I’m sure he had a good reason.” You continued, “There must have been a reason…he’s my friend.”
Vernon stared at you, “I didn’t realize you knew this magician.”
“Yeah, I do.” You answered, “I’m sorry for what Suga did, but he really isn’t a bad person. I’m sure if you talk to him now he can find some way to fix this—"
“This is perfect.” Vernon said with a smile and you looked at him in surprise.
“What do you mean?”
“Suga’s girlfriend is right here. This must be destiny. I can get my revenge now.” He moved closer to you and you started to panic.
“Hold up, I’m not his girlfriend—” You stammered as you backed away.
You then felt something hit you in the back to the head and you blacked out.
Shit.
“Let me go!” You cried as you struggled to break free from your bounds.
When you woke up, you found that Vernon had took you to some abandoned parking garage and tied you up. You pleaded with him and tried to get into his head that you were not Suga’s girlfriend, but he didn’t listen to you. Instead, he called Suga and told him that he had you and would hurt you if he didn’t show up. So far, there’s been no sign of Suga.
“It’s no use. You’re just a weak little human, you won’t be able to get out of those bounds.” Vernon said lazily as he turned on and off a lighter, “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you. I just want to get back at your boyfriend.”
“He’s not my boyfriend!” You snapped for the millionth time, but he didn’t listen to you.
“One hour has already passed, why isn’t your boyfriend here?”
“I told you, he’s a friend not my boyfriend.” You fumed, “You stupid leech!”
“Why do you keep insisting he’s not your boyfriend? Suga obviously thinks he is. He seemed very demanding over the phone.”
“No he doesn’t, you’ve got it all wrong!” You insisted but you started to panic.
Does Suga even consider me a friend? We did decide to stop being friends so how can I be sure he will rescue me? But still…he won’t leave me here to die…right…?
You refused to let your negative thoughts persuade you, “He will come. Don’t be so jumpy just because he’s a little late.”
“He’s not a little late! It’s already been an hour. I even threatened to kill you, you would think he would be here by now.”
“Well there must have been a reason.” You insisted, “Like traffic or he got a stomachache.”
Wow, those excuses sound stupid even to me, “Maybe he got into an argument with someone on the street…oh! Or he froze to death because of the cold.” Okay, it got worst.
“Or maybe he just thinks you’re as worthless as a penny rolling around on the ground.” Vernon said and you frowned.
“I told you, that’s not it”!
But it might be, you thought, you did throw his umbrella to the ground and stomped it and called him stupid. Suga has a sensitive personality, he might have gotten seriously angry. And we ended our friendship, now we’re nothing to each other. He might actually leave me here to die.
You couldn’t help but feel tears start to well up in your eyes.
I really am alone in this world, no one to help me.
The door suddenly slammed open and, to your surprise, Suga walked through it. He was quite disheveled and out of breath. You stared at him, you’ve never seen him without a nice suit so seeing him in such casual clothes in shocking. He glared at Vernon.
“Damn it, when teacher sealed your powers ten thousand years ago, did he seal your brain as well, V? If you just say ‘come here’, how am I supposed to know where ‘here’ is?”
You looked at Vernon’s shocked face and could help but snicker, “Wow, that’s such an amateur mistake. This must be your first time kidnapping someone.”
Vernon glared at you, “Shut up,” He turned to Suga, “Okay, that was my mistake. But ‘V’? I’m not V. My name is Vernon.”
Suga looked at Vernon in shock, “What? You’re not V? Then who are you?”
“I told you! My name is Vernon!”
“Vernon…?” Suga’s eyes widened, “…ah…”
Vernon stalked up to Suga, “Do you remember now? The Vernon whose life you destroyed?”
Suga’s face went back to being expressionless, “What do you want?”
“Turn me back to a normal human.”
“…that’s troublesome. I can’t.”
Vernon walked up to you and pulled out his lighter, “Shall I light your girlfriend’s head on fire?”
You rolled your eyes, “Stupid, who would fall for a lame threat like that? Try it, go ahead.”
“Stop it!” Suga snapped and you both turned to Suga in shock, “If I turn you back into a normal human now, you would change from a 150-year old vampire to a 150-year old man. That’s why I can’t grant it. But I’ll grant you another wish, just leave Y/N alone.”
“Wait,” you said, “I thought you can only grant one wish per person. If you grant two, isn’t something bad going to happen? I’m fine, I can just untie this rope and run away.” You continued to struggle with the rope, I swear I can feel it loosening.
“And I don’t want a different wish!” Vernon added his little two cents, “Turn me back!”
“I told you why I can’t do that. If you want to get angry at someone, be angry with me. Just leave Y/N alone. Please.”
You look at Suga in shock. If you didn’t know any better, you would think Suga is pleading with Vernon. But Suga will never beg…right…?
Vernon stared at Suga and slowly went up to him.
“Fine. I accept your offer.” He held out his hand.
Suga stared at the hand, and for a moment you thought he would do the same he did to you back then and ignore the hand, but then he took it and looked at Vernon in the eyes.
“The deal is set. Whenever you want, you can have your second wish.”
“You can bet I’ll come.” Vernon said as he let go, “Now excuse me, I have someone I have to talk to.”
And with a blink of an eye, he was gone.
You stared at Suga in concern, whose nose started to bleed, “Are you alright? You told the vampire you’d grant him another wish so…”
Suga waved his hand and your ropes disappeared. Why didn’t he do this in the first place? You didn’t say this because he literally looked like hell.
“No, I’m not alright.” He groaned as he sank to the ground, “It feels as if my blood is flowing backward. But it doesn’t matter. I always knew I would have to pay a price for what I did that day.”
You looked at Suga; him appearing so casual and weak is not something you were used to.
“Why did you do that?”
Suga smiled sadly, “The person you think of as a friend isn’t always good or all-knowing. He’s just a plain magician. That say 150 years ago…I’m not proud of. I was in a bad mood. I was about to explode from overwork, I was on my way to a friend’s funeral, and he just kept whining…but there’s no excuse for what I did. I vented my anger on an innocent person and ruined his life. There is no guarantee I won’t do such a thing again the next time I’m in a bad mood…and there’s no guarantee you won’t be endangered again because of my actions. It really is better if you don’t associate with me anymore.”
You stared at Suga, contemplating his heart-felt speech. You sighed as you shrugged off your coat and draped it over him, “No, my question was why did you come out in just a t-shirt and sandals on such a chilly night? Let’s talk more at home.”
Suga clutched your coat and looked at you in shock, not knowing how to respond.
You smiled and offered your hand, “This time I’ll take you home.”
He stared at your hand and hesitantly brought his hand to yours. It was cold as always, but you didn’t mind. You helped him up and started to walk back home.
“Hey, did you notice?”
“…notice what?”, Suga asked.
“This is the first time we’ve walked next to each other.” You chuckled, remembering your frustration.
“…is that so?”
“Yeah, you used to walk ahead of me when you took me home.”
“…did I?”
“Heh, somehow, I’m feeling great.”, You smiled softly.
Suga ran out to save you. Without a coat or shoes and with his hair a mess. Just like a normal person.
We are normal people.
“Wait, so Suga is sick because he granted someone two wishes?”, Rose asked.
You sighed, “Yeah, that’s why I wanted to ask you for help…”
Rose nodded as she went to gather some ingredients, “Of course, let me make something then.”
“Thanks, Rose, I really appreciate it.”, You studied the room, “The furniture in your home is pretty old-fashioned. I wouldn’t have it pegged as your style.”
Rose sighed, “What can I do? It’s RM’s style. But I agree—it’s not really furniture fit for newlyweds.”
“Oh right, I heard you two got married.”
Rose beamed, “We did, it was a very private ceremony, just us and Suga. It was really romantic. Suga was grumpy, like always, but he seemed happy for us.”
RM and Rose just got back from their honeymoon, which is fortunate because Suga is sick now.
“Anyway,” Rose said, “about Suga. It must be so hard for him. There’s so many conditions to fulfill a wish, if he isn’t careful it might end really badly for him…”
“Conditions? You’re talking about him dying when he accepts a wish he cannot fulfill?”
“Yeah. And he’ll also die if he doesn’t take good care of whatever he gets for granting a wish.”
“Why did he even become a magician? It seems like a lot of trouble.” You wondered.
Rose shrugged as she started to mix some herbs, “Well…when our master brought Suga home for the first time…he demanded Suga to become a magician that grants wishes and said he’ll beat him if he didn’t become a magician.”
“Wow, what a psycho.” You said, “So that’s why Suga always pulls a face when someone is talking about his master.”
You couldn’t help but think that his master really reminded you of your brother. Jin used underhanded methods to get his way. And he always got his way. He can be quite the bully. Take for example, that fateful plane accident. It was originally your ticket. Your uncle unwittingly gave your family three tickets to Hawaii instead of four. Your brother had a cold so it was agreed that you would have the ticket. Jin was adamant that he got the ticket, saying he’ll be healthy by the time the trip comes around. You still refused, and he purposefully did things to pass the cold to you so you ended up being sick. So instead he went…and he died because of it.
“It was master’s hobby to bully the people he liked.” Rose shrugged, “Suga had to experience that the hard way too.”
Jin was like that too, you thought, ever since he was small. He will tease me all the time.
“Say Rose…you brought RM back to life with your magic, didn’t you?”
Rose looked at you strangely, “Yes, why…?”
“Then…would you be able to revive someone else as well?”
“That’s not possible.” Another voice answered and you turned to see RM leaning against the doorway. Rose’s face lit up.
“Ah! My dear husband is back!”
“But why not?” You asked him.
“In my case, I was revived before my soul left my body. It’s not simple if the person died a long time ago. Besides, your parents are in heaven. I can still foresee a bit, so I know. I think they wouldn’t enjoy being taken away from paradise to be brought back to life.”
“And what about my brother?” You asked, “Did he actually manage to get into heaven as well?”
Oh my god, what if he’s in hell, you bit your lip, not wanting to think about that possibility.
RM quickly looked at Rose and back at you, “Uh…I guess. So you should give up on reviving someone who’s already dead. You don’t actually plan to ask Suga for that? It would be useless to make such a wish to him.”
“I know,” you sighed, “I already asked for it when I met him for the first time. He obviously said no, that’s why I became his assistant and all.”
RM studied you, “…but certainly you will ask him to grant a wish sometime, won’t you? You can’t be his assistant forever. Any idea what you might wish for?”
“Huh?” Thinking of a wish was honestly the last thing on your mind, but you realized RM was right: you can’t be Suga’s assistant forever. It never really crossed your mind before, but now it felt strange. You’ve become accustomed to being with Suga, “No…not really at the moment.”
RM went up to you and pressed his two fingers against your forehead.
Your eyes widened as you tried to take a step back, “What are you doing?”
“I just told you that I kept some of my foreseeing powers. So I should be able to see your future wish…”
You perked up, “You can see what I’ll wish for? Please tell me! Then I’ll meet with Suga and ask for it.”
Why didn’t you think of this before? RM is so smart!
RM closed his eyes and his expression suddenly became serious.
“….no, I cannot see it. Oh well, looks like I’m getting old.” RM said, walking away, “But I do have a question for you, child.”
“What is it?” You asked, trying not to be too disappointed that he couldn’t see anything.
“Do you have come to like Suga a little?”
You stared at RM, that’s such a strange question to ask at this time, “Sometimes when he’s all bitchy again I’d love to beat him up but…still…he’s actually quite nice and…well…yeah, I guess you could say that I’ve come to like him a bit.”
“Is that true? Then promise me one thing: when you ask Suga to grant your wish, don’t forget how much you’ve come to like him until that moment.”
You stared at RM, trying to figure him out. He is still a mystery to you, much like Suga.
“…I don’t really get what you mean, but okay. I’ll promise.”
RM gave you a warm smile, exposing his dimples, “Good…you’re a nice child.”
Rose then came up to you guys with a flask, “Here you go, Y/N, here’s Suga’s medicine. Suga should recover quickly after he drinks it.”
You took it from her and gave her a smile, “Thanks, Rose.”
“It’s no problem.” She said, grabbing RM’s hand, “It’s the least I can do after all the trouble I gave him.”
“Well, I’ll leave then.” You said and started to leave.
“Don’t forget your promise.” RM called out. He looked very serious again and you frowned.
“Yes, I will.”
Maybe he saw something, but then why didn’t he tell me?
...lots of personal stuff were happening in my life (one of them being that I got a bf!) so I didn’t have time to write. There should be updates though again this week :D
