Not one of my best, not one of my worst.
For Valentine’s Day, my partner and I visited Dracula’s Castle (aka Castle Bran), all the way in Transylvania, Romania!
I made sure to dress appropriately for the vampire hunting XD

“I always remember having this fight with a random dude who claimed that ‘straight white men’ were the only true innovators. His prime example for this was the computer… the computer… THE COMPUTER!!! THE COM-PU-TER!!!
Alan Turing - Gay man and ‘father of computing’ Wren operating Bombe - The code cracking computers of the 2nd world war were entirely run by women Katherine Johnson - African American NASA mathematician and ‘Human computer’ Ada Lovelace - arguably the 1st computer programmer”
- Sacha Coward
Also Margaret Hamilton - NASA computer scientist who put the first man on the moon - an as-yet-unmatched feet of software engineering, here pictured beside the full source of that computer programme. #myhero
Grace Hopper - the woman that coined the term “bug”
- @robinlayfield
Grace Hopper did more than coin the term “bug”. She invented the first program linker in the early 1950s, for the UNIVAC I. A program linker translates instructions from one language to another (for example, numerical codes that represent instructions translated to machine code that computers can read), which is the very foundation of how computer’s operate independently. she also pulled a steve rogers and tried to enlist in the military a bunch of times and was denied. then, an exception was made for her when she joined the navy reserves, and she ended up serving for over 40 years (half of which was active duty). she retired from the navy Rear Admiral Grace Hopper. she was born in NYC in 1906. Grace Hopper was a fucking badass.
also computing was typically a job for women (many of whom were black women that made incredible contributions) back in the day, so it’s absolutely fucking wild that straight white men think they are the foundation of computer innovation. men PUSHED women out and took the credit.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Adding Wendy Carlos to the list! Trans icon and pioneer of synthesized music!!
Also, just about every computerized device outside of desktops is running ARM chips now. Your phone, your keyboard, your car, your watch. Basically everything.
And ARM was primarily designed by Sophie Wilson, a trans woman.
Also gotta throw on Lynn Conway, whose work brought about VSLI [Very Large Scale Integration] in chip design in the early 80s. Basically all modern microelectronics depends on Conway’s work, which got logic gates on a single chip up from thousands to millions.
BTW all of this was after IBM fired her in 68 for disclosing she wanted to transition. They apologized in 2020.
Happy New Year everyone!
May this one bring you all joy and happiness!
…and now to the Warhammer stuff!
Here’s everything I painted this year, and a few favourite pieces!
Thanks to my wonderful brother and partner, I now have a magnifying desk lamp and airbrush!
I’m going to have to rework my entire work area for the airbrush (and I’ve never used one before XD), but these should both help me get my minis up to the next level!
Also planning on working on learning how to properly magnetise my models, and I’m going to put time into learning new basing techniques and texture paints.
Hopefully it’ll help me clear through these two very full stacks of very full boxes of models 😅

Realised I hadn’t posted any shots of the completed Diorama.
“Scavengers” A Kroot warband scavenging the wreck of a damaged and abandoned Rogal Dorn battle tank.
This was a really fun project that had been sat in my head for nearly 2 years. It was a challenge learning all the military modelling techniques that I needed to get the tank looking like it had been burnt out by shell fire, then abandoned by the crew during a beach landing. Lots of inspiration from the Sherman’s abandoned on Saipan beach.
This was also my first proper resin pour so i decided to use a deep poor 72hr cure resin so I didn’t have to colour match the layers! The waves were then carved into the top using a grinding bit in my dremmel. Then some snow terrain paste to represent the breaking waves and a coat of gloss varnish.
I’m really happy with how this turned out and it’s taught me a lot I can use on future dioramas
It’s Orktober!
…actually, the last day of Orktober, but still.
Here’s Orks!
We have: ‘94 Kommandos
A random broken Nob!
Tankbustas!
2000’s Kommandos!
A Warboss!
A big mek!
And a Killa Kan!
Still got some stuff left to paint, but that’s all the orks this year so far!
Oh, and here’s the whole desk so far
Hey hey!
Guess who’s been forgetting to update this again?
(Sorry, brain has been all over the place lately)
This is just a quick update too - here’s my current painted collection for the year!
Over the last couple of months, I’ve been making a huge effort to focus on getting Kill Teams painted - I’ve managed to get my Inquisitorial Agents complete, my Sister’s of Silence, and a couple of Night Lords and Scions. I’ve just started work on my Navy Breachers, and I’ve got a bunch of others built too!
Oh, and I’ve painted up most of the Darktide board game too!
(Annoyingly I’ve only got work in progress pics here, but they are done, I promise!
Yesterday my partner and I went to London to see Spirited Away on stage!
It was absolutely beautiful - never seen a production like it! Such a wonderful feat of theatre!
