People who say “sorry to inform you” are generally not, in fact, sorry, but rather the opposite - and also generally uninterested in reconsidering their stance. But on the off chance that you’re actually willing to listen to someone else’s perspective, here goes:
This entire comic series is predicated on tired, dated, and misogynistic tropes. Almost every single one shows a woman doing something women tend to be ridiculed for and made fun of, while her husband stands there in manly consternation because his wife is so Strange and Weird and Incomprehensible in her Womanly Behaviors:
In the first one, she’s doing her hair while leaving handfuls of hair all over the place, which her husband has to pick up after her. This woman is vain and centered on her appearance, doesn’t appear to care about anything else, and her husband has to clean up after her
women are often accused of being vain, vapid, thinking too much about clothing, makeup, and appearance, and spending too much time and money on all of those things (despite the fact that they are judged if they don’t). A woman sitting on a ginormous pile of clothes while the man stares in consternation and annoyance, even though he’d probably be annoyed if his wife stopped dressing up and looking nice? Exactly that trope.
Women are often accused of being narcissistic and vain for focusing on their appearance even though they are socially pressured to (see above). The comic in which she stares at her reflection in the car window while her husband tries to pull her away to do Actual Things is precisely that feminine vanity on display. Don’t you know, women only care about looking pretty and admiring themselves?
a woman going into hysterics because her haircut isn’t perfect, because appearance is so so important and she’s so vapid that a haircut is cause for hysterics, while a man sits by and just Doesn’t Get It because clothes and haircuts and makeup are Womanly Things he doesn’t Get? Yeah, one of those good ol’ sexist tropes.
A woman not letting her husband get any work done (he is presumably an illustrator/comics artist who makes money that way) because she needs to climb on top of him, distract him with Feminine Sex Appeal, and generally be annoying and vapid and self-centered while he’s trying to do Real Work? Yeah, great trope there.
Am I the only one who thinks the comic with the baby getting a vaccine makes the woman look like a hysterical anti-vaxxer?
