Hi Everybody!

I'm Dark_Night-Lullaby, 22 years old, and human. I love to write and immerse myself in all kinds of media/fandoms, so my blog is probably pretty diverse.

I'm also on AO3 under the same username (Dark_Night_Lullaby). You'll also find some stuff on Wattpad, ff.net and even fanfiktion.de, though I've become pretty inactive on those platforms.

I try to keep out of conflicts within fandoms and also could care less about most "problematic" authors and the like, if I write about something you don't like, just ignore it - no need to make our lives harder than necessary.

Also, any hate you throw at me won't make me back down, I've had my fair share of comments telling me to k*ll myself for being trash and writing horrible stuff. Your hate just fuels my fire because I hate being told what to do :)

To everyone else: I'm glad if you like my stuff and feel free to interact with it or request stuff - though, I can't guarantee anything will come off it because my writer's block is unpredictable.

How Petunia Evans (not yet Dursley because I hate Vernon) defeated Voldemort. So this is (obviously) an AU since Lily and Petunia don't hate each other

Petunia is visiting her sister when that one fateful night arrives... When the gate opens without a hand touching it, and when the door is slammed open by a spell. But this time, James is upstairs in bed, Lily right next to him. Harry is not in his crib but laying in-between his parents - happily suckling on his thumb in his sleep.

The dark clad figure looks around in something akin to confusion. It has definitely expected something different... But then it climbs up the stairs and stands in the hallway, tall and imposing. It looks at the pictures on the walls and grins as it imagines the pain it is about to bring to the happy family. Oh, what a pleasure it will be! Straight ahead the door is slightly ajar, and it sees the happy family in bed. Now is the time. The figure creeps closer to the door, wand gripped tight - ready to wreak havoc. Slowly, a pale, bony hand pushes the door open. A bizarre smile stretches thin, parched lips.

The wand slowly rises, and the spell to end it all is right on the tip of the shadow's tongue.

Then there is pain. Darkness.

"Ahhhhh!"

Lily jolts awake and sits up in the bed in shock. James, too, though he looks a lot less awake than his wife. Harry stays oblivious, a heavy sleeper of a baby. They stare at the doorway. Lily's eyes widen as she takes in the scene. Her sister is standing there with a frying pan gripped tight in both hands, face ashen and afraid, and to her feet lies the unmoving form of the darkest wizard of their time.

"Petty?", Lily asks in total shock, "Did you just kill Voldemort?!"

I love to write, I do! But goddamn it is so frustrating at times. Like, I have an idea, I work it out into a rough timeline and all that stuff. Yes, I get sidetracked by character design and all that, fair - but! But I want to write those ideas into proper stories, desperately even.

And I get going and the start is going well until at some point it just tapers off until I can only write like one sentence a day? And I know where I want to go. Often, I even know HOW I want to get there! But I can't f*cking write it!

Anyone else deal with that?

Hab gerade "Der Herr des Waldes" fertig geguckt... Und- Wow. Lassen wir mal die etwas irritierenden Charakterwandlungen (aka Esther und Leos Beziehung, because hello?! Erst können die keine drei Minuten ohne Zoff und jetzt ist quasi Friede, Freude, Eierkuchen? Ernsthaft?) und die Schürk Senior Sachen beiseite:

Was war das für ein Psycho-Ding am Ende als der Lehrer, Peter Lausch, den alten Schürk im Auto hat und die zusammen los lachen?! Ich meine, dass Pia mit ihrer Psychopath-Theorie nicht so falsch liegen konnte, war ja ab dem Zeitpunkt, wo sie mit dem französischen Wald-Kerl reden, klar - aber excuse me?!

Muss seine Frau unter Drogen/Pharmazeutika setzen, um zu kuscheln und lässt seinen Sohn abends/nachts durch den Wald rennen, während er dessen Crush abmurkst. Das ist doch Psychopath auf Steroiden!

Ich meine, ich fand's eigentlich ganz cool, weil man es nicht hat kommen sehen bis kurz vor Ende und so, aber ich hatte schon Gänsehaut, als die dauernd wieder angefangen haben zu lachen...

Und ich meine, Schürk Senior scheint sich ja bisher, noch nicht so richtig an alles zu erinnern, aber ich bin mir sicher, der weiß zumindest, dass er kein guter Mensch war/ist - das kommt ja jetzt schon immer wieder durch. Aber da? Ich frage mich, ob er vielleicht nicht nur aus Panik/Emotionalität wegen der Situation/Pharmazeutika lacht, sondern auch weil er weiß, dass er und der Lausch gar nicht sooo unterschiedlich sind.

Und falls Schürk Senior schon weiß, dass Leo es war, der ihn niedergeschlagen hat, dann könnte er auch lachen, da er sich denkt: "Wenn der wüsste, dass ein 14-jähriger besser war als er mit seinen 3 bzw. 10 Morden auf dem Buckel!"

Ich meine, der Cliffhanger am Ende der Folge, hat ja ein gewisses Potential dafür, dass Roland Schürk mehr weiß, als er bisher zugegeben hat.

Hat's noch wen gestört, dass man nie gehört hat (außer ich hab's irgendwie verpasst), was der Disziplinartyp in "Das fleißige Lieschen" am Anfang zu Adam sagt, bevor er nochmal mit Leo über den Schusswechsel redet?

Ich meine, ich bin erst bei der 2. Spatort-Folge, vielleicht wird's ja nochmal aufgegriffen, aber irgendwie nervt's mich.

Ich meine... Hat der Typ Adam gewarnt? Oder wollte er, dass Adam eine Art Spion wird? "Passen Sie mal auf was ihr Partner so macht und erstatten Sie mir Bericht" oder so was in die Richtung? Oder war's wirklich nur eine kurze Begrüßung?

Ich bin neugierig!!!

Gucke nach langem Warten und Prokrastinieren endlich Tatort Saarbrücken und hab zufällig mitten bei "Der Herr des Waldes" angehalten:

Ist noch wem aufgefallen, dass Leo den Vorlesewettbewerb zwar der Überschrift und dem Bild nach gewonnen hat, aber Adam Schürk laut Text zur bundesweiten Runde fährt?

Musste bei dem Kopfkino kurz lachen, auch wenn sich das nach einem interessanten Life Swap!AU für eine Fanfic anhört.

What if...

After the accident where Mo read out Capricorn, Dustfinger etc., and Resa went into the book, Dustfinger doesn't run. He sees the broken and hurting husband and the crying baby, and he can't leave because he is broken too. So, he stays. He stays and helps Mo get back on his feet. Helps raising Meggie - tells her stories about the Wayless Wood, the creatures, Ombra. Everything, really.

And she grows up knowing why Mo doesn't read anymore; she knows that her mother is trapped in a book and that they need to protect Inkheart with their lives.

She grows up without a mother but with a loving father and a wonderful uncle/big brother.

And when Capricorn comes they face him together; they work together instead of against each other, and they can trick the villain without needing to pull innocents into their fight.

And all the while they know that even if they should never get their lives back - if Resa stays in the book, and Dustfinger can't get in - they still have each other and that's enough...

Did you ever...

Feel like there was too much inside you one moment - happiness, joy and all those positive emotions - and the next you are so, so empty and void with sadness and grief all around you but not inside you?

Did you ever feel so warm and safe with some people but when you leave for home alone, you immediately lose the smile or laugh that had been with you all day because on your own - what is there to be happy about?

Did you ever feel like no one could possibly like you because you are always too much or not enough - too loud, too quiet; too inquisitive, too self-centred?

Did you ever feel like you are just right; just enough?

Maybe you have, maybe not but please, don't think that you are alone with those questions... Everyone feels like that sometimes - some longer, some stronger but everyone does. So please don't drown in those thoughts.

What do you do? What if it doesn't bother you for years? What if it only comes back in the bad ways?

Suddenly all you say about it comes out wrong - everyone says you're talking sh*t. And it swallows you up. Slowly. Because no one understands. No one wants to talk about it anymore.

For them? It's done. For you? It's only just beginning - again.

So, I was just out walking through the forest when I had to take a really muddy path and my mind - with no f*cking context just went:

Hey it's really ✨maddie✨ here.

And from there, I couldn't help but imagine a Buck in Wonderland kind of AU with Maddie as a kind of Cheshire Cat who just appears everywhere in the forest Buck needs to walk through, giving more or less clear advice.

Rewatching Elementary and I'm remembering why I love the show, but anyway:

In S1E19 "Snow Angels" when Sherlock is trying to prove that Denise Castor, a supervisor from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), is part of a murder + robbery/money heist (or whatever that is classified as), the whole precinct is basically playing a large game of deception.

And I can't help myself but think... That probably was one of their best days ever because 1) the crime rate was probably rather low during that snowstorm (if only because no one could reach 911) and 2) they got to play around like kids.

Like c'mon, just the guy in one scene banging a trash can or something similarly metallic on the floor. Or Bell's act of "should we really leave her alone?" with Gregson's reaction of "the door can only be opened from outside, c'mon". They were totally having fun here, and that day will probably stay in the whole police force's collective memory as "the day Sherlock Holmes for once didn't cause us a major headache"

something I think we all know about fanfic, but don’t talk about because it would hurt writers feelings is that some fics are like fast food. I mean this as a compliment. I don’t always want to sit down for a six course meal that will be a flavor experience. Sometimes I just wanna dip some fries in a frosty. Sometimes I want something homecooked and delicious and super niche, but super comforting. Sometimes I want to eat an entire dark chocolate cheesecake in one sitting even though I know Its gonna make me sick. Just. holy crap, y’all. Sometimes I don’t even want fast food, I just want to eat an entire bag of chips. and yeah, I’m ashamed of myself afterwards, but at the time it was exactly what I wanted. So, no, we’re never going to say to our fanfic writers that we consider their writing to be the equivalent of a midnight run to taco bell - and we shouldn’t, feelings would be hurt by that. But writers, please, please, please, remember this. You don’t need to create a six course meal if you don’t want to. You don’t have to make something complex and homemade if you don’t want to. You don’t even have to finish cooking it - because someone will be thrilled that you brought a bowl of cookie dough and a spoon, because they cannot even consider sitting down and having a proper meal right now. It’s okay writers, whatever you decided to make. Someone was happy to have it. You gave them what they needed. You made them happy. You did good.

I don’t know why being fast food would be considered insulting!

A few years ago, I read an essay by a romance writer who openly admitted that her books were trashy, formulaic, and not Great Art. But what she said is that she gets fan letters all the time. From women with six kids whose only time for themselves is reading her books. From women in abusive relationships who read her books to give them hope that loving relationships exist. From women with depression who manage to eke out some pleasure reading her books. From women whose lives are awful and who read her books to give them the strength to live another day.

And– she points out– the writers of Great Art have many virtues, but they do not generally get fan letters from people whose lives are miserable and who seek out comfort and joy from the books. Because most of the time when our lives are awful, we don’t seek out Great Art. We seek out, well, literary fast food. We seek out emotionally manipulative hurt/comfort or fluffy coffeeshop AUs or Mutual Pining where there is Only One Bed.

Be proud of your work! Be proud of making literary fast food. Try to make the best damn literary fast food you can. Because somewhere out there– you might not know who, you might not know when– there might be someone who has just finished their last final, or who got fired from their job, or who is up all night with a newborn, and your fast food fanfic made their lives better. And that is no small thing.
