I think it's also her turn to be a bit spoiled as it is... she's the first dragon I ever bought and has been with my clan for over a year now. She's been mateless most of that time, has worn the same apparel, and has only received one gene from me.

... Am I a bad dragon parent?

Oooooh I think mine would be Light / Metal / Mind

My dragons are super loyal to Light all around, tend to value shiny things for both their prettiness and their potential as decorative armor and / or weapons (even if it's not actually the best armor and / or weapon), and there's a weird emphasis on logical partnering when it comes to offspring color outcomes, even when there are gut feelings involved. They're super picky color pickers. Plus I ended up with two magic wielding dragons on my Coli team with one bloodthirsty brawler so... they really try so very hard to balance her out.

You people like unused images, right? Because I just remembered I had these unused images. Apparently the breeds were going to have two different hatchling “sprites” (artwork??, lines??), but this was eventually cut. These four are the only four that have two different hatchling artworks.

Quick scrooble demonstrating what I meant a post or two ago about eye colour, comparing Starburst (who’s G1) and Makaira (who’s G5 on her paternal bloodline). 

Some bonus headcanons: Wind eyes tend to be among the most difficult to spot interflight influences in — not because of strong genes or… whatever?… but because the Flight culture’s inclination to exploration and friendliness means that the vast majority of the Wind dragon gene pool has already been thoroughly mixed with other flights.

Conversely, Ice, basically being white, tends to show interflight influences quite strongly, especially since both Flight culture and geographical isolation mean that until relatively recently in Sornieth’s history, Ice clans tended to mostly mingle with Ice. 

Light has been trending in the same direction as Wind, though largely because the native Pearlcatchers prefer the aesthetics of eyes with a touch of other flights’ influence. A recent genetic mutation that resulted in some Fae hatchlings being born with vividly pure yellow eyes was met largely with revulsion and dismay, and that feature died out with relative quickness.

Working on a pillow design today. It's a complex design but it's coming out pretty nice. Have some things I need to do to the embroidery files for next time but this is a good first run overall, and I'll be putting the final product up for sale in my shop! :)

Hallow's gonna look like this when she's triple-gened:

Hmm so to breed with Nightmare, I'd like Hallow to be a higher tier species to a) up the chances of getting a Nocturne and b) finally progress with my clan plot of turning rule over to Anaideia since the ruler has to be a Mirror dragon. I originally had planned for Hallow to be a Ridgeback, but I'm liking that idea less and less.

She looks sufficiently pissed off as a Skydancer to pull that off, and Bar and Spines would certainly add to that aesthetic. She might pick up Shimmer further down the road, but definitely this to start.

So, against all of my earliest expectations of her, Hallow might actually end up as a Skydancer. I had wanted her to be a Nocturne because I mean

but HA. Kiss that dream goodbye, baby. She looks mischievous as a Coatl, but I honestly could never see Hallow as a Coatl. Little too much "Come hither..." and not enough "Come hither so I can beat the crap out of you."

And that's enough rambling about Hallow for today.
