Can I just say that the Lister/Rimmer fanfic ‘Easy as Anything’ by komodobits on A03 is the gold standard of rimster fics, for anyone who likes to read the more adult stories that are out there. And considering how many positive comments it got, you can see why.

You can really hear the characters voices coming off the page and it takes its time in developing Lister and Rimmer’s feelings, from initial mild lust and curiosity to deepening love and attachment. Yes it’s got sex scenes right from the first chapter but they really serve a purpose in what is a well written developing love story between them, staying true to their characters and also managing to be very ‘Red Dwarf’ in terms of the humour and character interaction. The sex scenes manage to be not only HOT but also funny, tender, imperfect, imaginative - because Rimmer’s a soft light hologram for most of the story - and also a bit sad in terms of reminding them that they can’t touch each other, in fact they can’t even kiss - it took a second reading for me to realise that once Rimmer is a hologram, they never kiss until Legion appears.

I also like the way most of the story is original but it still follows the general timeline of the tv series.

I think the story sells the potential for Lister and Rimmer having romantic chemistry more than most others and I also think it delves into Rimmer’s ‘half-live’ situation as a hologram more than the show did.

Scully in episode 1: I don't really agree with Mulder on anything, but he seems earnest and like a nice enough guy. I think he honestly just needs a friend.

Scully in episode 2: Mulder, my new best friend, has been captured by the US Army, so I will now commit several Class-A felonies and enter into an armed hostage situation to get him back.
