while it’s important to be aware that individual consumers are not responsible for climate change/cannot be expected to make a difference simply through changing their consumption habits, and it’s important to name the primary drivers and culprits of climate change i.e. corporations and the wealthy, i also think there needs to be more awareness that climate change is still driven by the general capitalist lifestyle lived by all of us in the global north, and that to put an end to climate change will mean drastically changing and restructuring that lifestyle and not just “getting rid of the corporations/billionaires” or whatever. no, individuals especially working-class individuals aren’t “at fault” or “responsible” for climate change, but be really really wary of this rhetoric that reduces combatting climate change down to “guillotine the billionaires” (more will take their place) or “get rid of the big corporations” (those are an integral part of our current fucked-up society and to get rid of them we need to restructure society). complete decolonization and overthrow of capitalism is the only way forward

anyway moments like this are exactly why c!tommy's arc is so satisfying! I know some people say it's just one traumatic experience after another and I get why someone would think so -- if you make a timeline of important events, it all seems overwhelmingly negative, with barely one or two wins scraping by. but really there's all these smaller moments: telling c!dream to fuck off and jumping safely into lava. his apologies before doomsday. ./hug. quietly putting away his wartime weapons and gear. the healing arc isn't a separate, explicit thing; it's woven seamlessly into the rest of the character's life.

Okay, so Tommy’s character has a distaste for wearing netherite armour and using netherite tools. It’s an interesting development!

Now of course his character loses things a lot and has always detested grinding for stuff. It’s hardly farfetched for him to have grown to dislike fancier tools and wish for equality where everyone just uses basic equipment. It’s even these kinds of ideals that began L’Manberg. 

But also, Tommy’s character likes to take things slow, to live in the moment and enjoy life.

This is Tommy! - who prefers to walk rather than run. Tommy will wear armour when necessary but enjoys the luxury of not wearing it when he doesn’t have to. Tommy has said before that he takes off his armour whenever he feels safe. 

Likewise, better tools help you to complete tasks quicker but Tommy is in no hurry to finish as he finds pleasure in the task itself. If there’s no urgency then why be quick when he could just enjoy the experience and take it slow? Its not about having a nice house, it’s about making it and feeling attached after all the time spent on it and the memories it now holds.

Tommy’s character has been in wars so there’s something very charming about his mindset, his wish to enjoy the simpler pleasures of life. His character longs for peace and he knows he doesn’t need powerful items to be happy. He dreams of a world where he can feel safe without them as he doesn’t value material possessions for their material value but rather their sentimental attachment. He’ll never grind but he will try and make the land look prettier. Maybe someday he can feel safe without needing to wear netherite or hide his possessions. 

Tommy just wants to take life at his own pace. ❤
