They're for law enforcement, investors, and politicians.

The reason you're seeing it is part of the product those people are getting. It's not just the technological function of the panopticon on display. It's ensuring you know that you're being watched and getting you to act like it.

Similar is the "stop hiring human" kind of ads you see in the Bay Area. Even the ones that are just a bit more subtle. Like this one, the rest of the country got a dose of that during the superbowl.

They're not for you.

They're to get you to accept a product that has already been bought by unfathomably wealthy people as inevitable and uncontrollable.

They're not trying to make AI look morally better than it actually is. They're trying to make AI look more important, powerful, and impactful than it actually is.
