Momma, I pick at the skin on my heels a lot, I know there's a thing called dermatilomania, or something like that which sounds pretty similar to what I do, but I'll sometimes chew/ eat the skin I pick off. I can't afford to see anyone to get an official diagnosis or anything, but do you have any advice?

Try other ways to keep your mouth and hands busy. Play with silly putty, chew gum, or get a spinner ring!

To the anon who picks at the skin on their heels, I used to do the exact same thing! It took a long time to find alternatives, but one thing that helped me to was to wear socks all the time. I got some really comfy "spa socks" from target or something. Once I was wearing them, I realized just how often my hands were moving to my feet. It helped me become more self-aware and I was finally able to consciously stop myself. I also started shuffling cards and using a stress ball. Good luck!

Momma I'm always being told I complain too much and I have no one to talk to.. My friends don't seem to care about me anymore and I feel so alone and my chest hurts so bad... And now I feel like I'm whining just like I'm told all the time. I suffer from depression and anxiety and I have severe abandonment issues.. momma i never talk about this since i feel like a wuss but i need help. both my parents died in 9/11 at the southern wtc. i lived in manhattan and the sound of fireworks makes me remember terrible things. however, i live in a busy neighborhood with lots of people celebrating and celebrating the "power of american spirit" will only remind me of that day. i dont know what to do and im sorry to bother you im so stupid im sorry

 Darling, it isn’t stupid. As Momma has said before, she understands. She has war veteran friends who are affected by fireworks. Find a nice dark room, and listen to some calming music. Maybe invite some close friends over to hold you, or to distract you with funny movies and karaoke.

Darling, being forced to grow up in one way or another can be taxing on a person. Momma isn’t saying that you should chase the past, but perhaps you can reintroduce a little innocence to your life. Let yourself have fun, goof off a little and let yourself smile. If you want to think about who you are, meditate on it. Think about it and contemplate the self.  But in the end, you really are nobody other than yourself. You may want to think about the parts that make up yourself, but you are you. This is a journey you will have to take, and Momma wishes you luck.
