go my ponyfication beam 💥💥
@deadfishmilk using your comment as a shameless excuse because i love talking about horses
my thought process as i drew them was 50% my extremely limited mlp knowledge and 50% my decent amount of real horse knowledge
bones: starting with bones bc unfortunately his has the least amount of thought behind it! i just know he’d be a paint. i felt it in my soul he beamed down and told me. his breed was intended to be an american paint horse bc they’re found in the us south. i made him a pegasus because of the wings on the cadeucus symbol (which i know is technically not for medicine but is still associated with it atp)
spock: his design leans more heavily on mlp lore, in my head he is half-unicorn half-earth pony but his characteristics lean more on the unicorn side. the unicorn earth pony thing is obviously a sub-in for his vulcan human heritage. on his face i gave him a star marking in the shape of a star. i loosely based his breed on a namib desert horse, which is a feral horse breed that lives in desert and very arid climates in namibia (mimicking vulcan). also, to borrow a bit of lore from aos, namib desert horses, like vulcans, are critically endangered :(
kirk: he’s the first one i did! he’s an amber champagne icelandic horse. i chose the coat color mostly to imitate his hair, but i made him an icelandic horse because theyre known for being extremely hardy and confident in difficult scenarios, while also still remaining friendly and good natured. he has the appaloosa blanket patch on his back, which i know is nonexistent in icelandic horses but i doubt mr “no such thing as a no win scenario” would be stopped by that. he has a blaze mark on his face because (at least where im from) it is associated with courage. he’s an earth pony because frankly you can’t get more human than james t kirk.
soo awesome !!
