one of my pet peeves about star wars legends is when they give additional information that is almost snide towards the main canon. like, each time a jedi unproblematically navigates love via "non-possessive attachment" in legends this is obviously also trying to simultaneously say something about anakin and padme, which then falls apart the moment you add shmi to the equation too. there's no "only POSSESSIVE attachment was banned you guys"-ing out of the fact anakin was not allowed to check on his enslaved mother or help her. and in general, filling the additional canon with characters who are meant to be very virtuous only makes me appreciate the very fallible prequels trio more. i don't think you can navigate your way out of massive, complicated political corruption in which your organisation is complicit in by being more religiously virtuous. the jedi doctrine would not have saved anyone by itself because the jedi order was built to work with the republic & democracy and didn't have a real safeguard for what would happen if the republic itself was becoming a threat to democracy. this story of complacency implicates everyone who participated in it, not just anakin, padme and obi-wan

The thing about in-universe podracing rpf is that Anakin himself would be pretty popular in there, but not only that, is that he's the link between the podracing rpf AND the Jedi rpf, both communities that outside of Anakin, wouldn't usually touch but because of Anakin they do and I'm sure it brings up a lot of drama

Podracers rpf are all about having little Ani being adopted by the Big popular gay ship or either as the golden kind that is in love with some of the sons of the other pilots and creates drama, it probably also focuses more on social issues because podracing is after all, a blood sport first, so many became podracers out of neccesity or are outright forced (slaves) and through prizes win their freedom. So podracer rpf!Ani is most likely just a cute potato sweetheart of a kid, which is actually what Ani used to be, but he remains so as an adult by the fanfic authors, basically they see him as kind of how actual SW fandom views Luke.

Now, rpf!Jedi fans,,,, that's a whole other deal. But oh boy, we can BET that podracers rpf fans hate how they characterize Anakin, lmao. He's the Bad Boy and he gets shipped with virtually everyone and their mom. (Everyone BUT the persons the podracing rpf shippers like to pair him with, like the podracer's sons)

In fact, maybe TCW is actually fanfic made by the rpf Jedi fans, who knows...

The thing is, there's a 90% chance that after Obi-Wan dropped the 'actually your dad was a jedi' Luke tried to look up Anakin Skywalker on the holonet and found many, many fanfics and most of these he regrets clicking on.

Also there’s one part of Queen’s Hope where Ruwee agrees to take Padmé off-world at age fucking nine to help with a dying planet just because she begged him to take her with him so, there’s also that.

Star Wars really said "Anakin Skywalker had issues rooted in childhood trauma that was not his fault" but also "Anakin made his own choices as an adult for which he alone is responsible" but ALSO "In spite of the truly evil things he chose to do Anakin was still capable of being loved and redeemed" and I think that's important.
