Amazing…Truly and utterly amazing! To have such advanced senses! Oh, what that must have been like! “Really? Different hues and such? Or perhaps new colors all together…that must be something.” she murmured, trying to imagine what it would be like to see different colors, to have his senses and the like. How marvelous that would be!
Wynter approached the spot where the Siren had situated himself, the young woman taking a seat in the damp sand. She didn’t care if her dress got wet, if sand and bits of seaweed stuck to it, she had others she could change into. A dress was hardly as important as learning about a whole new species that was previously believed to be nothing more than a fairy story.
A frown touched her lips for a moment or so as he confessed that a great number of the shipwrecks in question were caused by his kind. So that wasn’t just myth or wild sailor’s stories…Sirens really did lurk on the rocks and draw ships and sailors alike to their boom. How utterly terrifying… Wynter suddenly found herself very grateful that her Uncle had insisted that she was brought to the estate via the carriage, rather than boat that she’d originally thought she’d be traveling on.
The young woman cleared her throat softly, chasing away those thoughts. She hadn’t gone by boat, her ship had not been overturned by Sirens, so there was no use in fretting over such thoughts. No, she was fine, she was in one piece and she was breathing.
“Wouldn’t it be something to find such ruins, though? Just imagine being able to step foot, or rather swim through, somewhere that no person has been for centuries…It’d be haunting, don’t you think? Haunting but utterly fascinating.”
♔—- "Obviously I’ve never seen out of human eyes before, but I believe the spectrum that we see is somewhat larger than that of humans. I see colors like blue and green and red, but I can see other colors like...” Well, how did one simply explain a color? That was next to impossible, wasn’t it? How could you describe the consistency of purple without relating it to another color? It was dark and it was majestic and it was regal, but what did that actually say about the color itself? Nothing.
“Well, I’m not entirely sure how to describe colors to you that you haven’t seen, I’m afraid,” he admitted, watching as Wynter came close to him. The siren didn’t move as she neared him, too afraid to scare her away with any sudden movement.
As silence stretched between them, Loki assumed she was taking in his confession. It wasn’t every day that one learned myth and legend were not only partially true, but completely true. Loki never took much liking to attacking entire ships to devour the sailors, mostly because the swarms that attacked the ships would often leave other bodies afloat in the water, left for the buzzards. Not every sailor could be devoured, and they had no means of keeping meat. Eating a human that had been dead for a week wasn’t exactly appetizing.
Loki didn’t care much for pointless killing, but sirens had grown leery of such practices when more and more humans came to investigate the odd influx of shipwrecks in the area. Other sirens in different locations might have still stuck to the traditions, but Loki’s family didn’t usually.
“You’re right. It would be an amazing experience indeed. I’ve been through many parts of the sea, but I have never ventured far enough out to find such a place. In truth, I care more for exploring the surface than exploring sunken ruins. That could be exciting though. Perhaps Atlantis truly does exist? Who knows?”
