Might be a controversial post but I have a verryyyy unpopular opinion on that viral Genshin critique video...

I actually don't think the fandom has any right to dislike that video. At all. Especially to this extent.

Not that the takes aren't misogynistic and racist. They are. They're just not new. It's literally just regurgitated bullshit over half of this fandom has said since the games fucking release.

This fandom is so misogynistic that it takes a woman making a shitty video saying EXACTLY what they have said the whole time, for them to finally be like hey...maybe misogyny is actually bad. The only original part of that video was calling Linnea a pedophile.

"united by hate" yeah. Your hatred of women.

Was dicking around reading character details and I decided to read the Traveler's, realizing I never bothered.

I was actually really confused when reading this. What does this mean? Why is it in the Traveler's character detail when it sounds like it has nothing to do with them? Who is "The Keeper"?

And then I realized I'm stupid, because we literally just got the answer to that.

THIS is the enemy from the new Mondstadt area! "Domain Keeper." Also featured in the Temple of Space.

The quest where her creation bemoans about being abandoned ("the creator has not yet returned"), and throughout the quest is on the verge of destruction for going against its own rules ("fading away"). I'd like to point out a "Keeper" isn't the ones doing this but instead a "Watcher".

(Personally I find this not important as this description was added so early on it could just be chalked up to it being name changes further in development.)

It seems I need to replay that world quest because it's much more important than I thought. Of course I knew about it confirming who Asmoday's new master is, but perhaps I wasn't paying attention enough.

I was trying to concoct some sort of theory surrounding this information, because I was stunned when I finally noticed cause I have never seen a single other soul bring it to attention. But I assume it's because there isn't much to go off of as of now.

Wondering what other people's thoughts are. I find it strange that the Traveler's character details reference a world quest that wasn't added until 5 (almost 6) years later. A quest that I find incredibly important, but not enough for it to be the only thing in the Traveler's character description.

I'd love to hear if I missed anything. I'm a bit scatter brained so it's hard for me to remember stuff!

Genshin fandom is truly fascinating (although my complaint can apply to all fandoms)

Because there seems to be two types of people when it comes to female fan service. Those, rightfully, kind of tired of every single female character having to be some sort of fanservice to even be considered.

And then the other side is people who just. Seem to be disgusted at the idea of sex. Or just porn in general. It's not the misogyny that is the issue. In fact they won't even bring it up. They do very round about ways of basically calling this female character a slut, as if she has any sort of agency when she is a fictional character.

And they will never and I mean NEVER get mad about the male characters having fanservice. Lohen can have ridiculous on the nose skill names like "Masterstroke", Varka can make dick sucking noises into the mic, Scaramouche's ult can literally be stepping onto the screen, but HEAVEN FORBID Columbina shares a snack with someone she considers family. Or Arlecchino wearing honestly shittily modeled cat ears to connect with Lynette.

Yes it is annoying that every female character has to wear heels, have super short skirts, or have skin tight tops. But it just sounds like you're disgusted by the idea of female sexuality and not like...misogyny.

Half a year ago was Wanderers birthday, and today is mine.

It's been a pretty weird year, I'm at a different place than when i started this comic 6 months ago, but a lot behind it is still there, just differently.

It's very messy and inconsistent bc I was rushing but the main point stands.

I was doing Arlecchino's quest for a friend, and I had a thought...

Do you think when she looks at Columbina, she thinks—even briefly— of Clervie?

The new quest trailer just dropped and with all the theories going on, I just wanted to point out the first thing I noticed while watching.

They're clearly both Lohen, but...why does he look different?

There are some other differences, like the color of his shoulder armor, and his coat being a more saturated blue. But that is lighting or just an accident lmao, I don't think that's intentional. The other shit definitely is. Developers and artists don't just forget key details of a character design, especially stuff like eye color and accessories.

And they definitely wouldn't accidentally model a symbol that looks exactly like the antagonist's. (The Fatui's symbol is technically straight up, but it's not uncommon to see it tilted like how Lohen has it)

Usually when people make these posts they have actual theories but from the bottom of my heart, I have no explanation for this. I don't buy the "he's a Dottore" segment theory because his design doesn't fit with what we are expected of them to look like. Nor do I think they would bring Dottore back without Wanderer, especially with all the dialogue foreshadowing their inevitable reunion.

I'd love to hear other people's thoughts!
