think you'll get a kick out of this, but my favorite thing to do to a new blorbo is to make them a Mountain Goats fan whenever possible, and of course Ryland Grace is a very strong contender. Especially the thought of Grace and Rocky finally getting a chance to relax a bit on the way to Erid, sharing music, and some which a way This Year gets played and near immediately cranked to inadvisable volume.

Super don't think about it becoming a ritual for them to play it loud enough to shake the ship for every year into the journey. (<- has hurt myself regularly with this thought LMAO)

This is good, but I feel like we can go so much deeper. Ryland Grace you would probably feel so seen by "Corsican Mastiff Stride" (The land we left becomes a dream / The ghosts we knew go up like steam; and also Point to the spot where our ship disappeared / We're not coming home anymore)

I also feel very deeply in my heart that there is a perfect and achingly cutting Eva Stratt TMG song but I can't decide what it is. Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.

That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. Die Gedenken Sind Frie baby. This is all a reaction to people getting uppity about their lowly lowly rights and is being propped up by the same bad actors tht have made life unlivable. Fuck that shit.

oh damn it also only clicked with me now. Rocky insisting on giving Grace the astrophage fuel to get home, actually saves fucking,,, everyone. Like that one act of kindness, that one insistence of "no I will not let my friend die like this". "I could not save my crew but I sure as hell will save you." and that changes everything. this movie makes me unwelllllll

Like. Rocky gives Grace to fuel to go home, at the cost of reaching Erid 6 years slower. So, Grace starts the journey back with the samples, instead of just sending them back on drones and waiting to die - crucially, this allows him to realise that the samples are escaping their containers (and destroying/eating his fuel). If he had just sent the samples back in the drones by themselves, before containing them in something else, who knows if they would have reached earth intact. Grace would never have known that both missions have failed, leaving both him and Rocky to die alone in their respective ships.

Instead. Because Rocky gave that fuel to Grace, Grace can safely send the samples to Earth, return to Rocky, save him from the contamination of the samples (and the radiation goddammit), therefore also saving all of Eridian. Just because Rocky was like fuck you, you're going home. wow.
